Yeah, I don't even get what's supposed to look better in the AC video footage. It looks like brightness and saturation have been turned up to 11. I can't even tell whether the shadows look better, because I can barely see them. Whatever this does - it's way to heavy and the output doesn't remain faithful to the input.
@chrisahmed8660 it looks like celebrities with weird plastic surgery lmao, some let me straighten my nose and sharpen it like a knife shit, except here it seems to also make young characters like twice as old
the lighting in the oblivion town that has great realistic shadows from the sunlight on all the buildings gets completely removed and makes everything look like its entirely shaded by AO, how did they not even mention that?
Yeah, it's so wrong in Grace's scene in particular. It's a rainy, overcast day. The lighting is not supposed to be that strongly defined! And since DLSS 5 only takes colour and motion vectors into account, there also seems to be no guarantee that it actually displays fine detail faithfully and truly 'just' changes the lighting. The suspicion that it "yassified" Grace seems valid...
@joearkhive Probably because AI's biggest fan invites them to events, sponsors them, wines and dines them. You know, like that steak scene from the matrix? Yeah, that one.
Are you telling the face art from starfield is Picasso now. This is effectively the AI equivalent of Oblivion remastered but you can turn it on for starfield I really can't wait for it. Anyone who can't see how much better the materials look is blinded by generic AI hate. This will be just like DLSS everyone will hate on it and then stats will show that 85% of users turn it on 100% of the time.
@citizen3000 nope. anyone with functioning eyes can see that pretty much every single instance looks worse. Blown out contrast to 100+ isn't realistic lighting.
@matthisknopf2878 If you find this disappointing then you must be new here or you haven't been paying attention to DF's past content, they are literally the biggest Nvidia shills on the internet, it's why they always get exclusive early access to Nvidia events
Nvidia isn't responsible for that other then building a product that's too good. What exactly do you expect them to do about the fact that there are two many people who want their GPUs. Imagine if they actually didn't give a shit about games and did what would undoubtably make them more money. Stop making GPUs for ungrateful haters and just make cards for the AI market.
Yes it currently looks like AI junk, I as well as DF see the potential though, if they find a way to restrict it or mix it with the ingame graphics, when it's trained only on assets they used during development etc. EDIT: train the filter on assets they created but that are too costly or can't be done with traditional rendering is what I mean.
It's gonna be so awful to see a character looking already different from the original and then 1 cutscene later it will look like a new character AGAIN
@euphoricbliss6699 Calling the great job that capcom already did with the models "old crap" just goes to show how much of a piece of garbage this filter is and what kind of people want it
Imagine if you watched the video and found out that - completely unsurprisingly - devs can customise the look and that is just a tech demo with a particular look chosen. Imagine.
this is a shame because it could look maybe impressive if it just changed the lighting to "AI Path Tracing" or something, but avoided changing textures and the proportions of the eyes and lips, making her look like another person and uncanny as hell.
of course they are completely access media for a long while, and capcom really begins to disappoint me, they have been pure nvidia advertisers attack dogs
I don’t agree. What are they shilling? I think this tech makes the games look… creepy, as hell. But I don’t see any “shilling.” And we know John and Alex will criticize this shit.
You're going to completely 180 your position if the tech works well and you see it in a 3D space. It's objectively better looking in nearly all comparisons and if you don't like the characters, you can't deny the lighting improvements. At the end of the day it's a toggle. I've never seen so much herd mentality though.
Wew day r fittin qwite wew fank yew! Wif zah swytch tew bein weweased and nought cuvawing sonic wacing quas wewds we did wava well! Mereoh kawt wewds is definitwee vee onay kawt wacer u should pway!
I've been playing computer games for 30+ years on every platform imaginable. I've loved all the old classics and their art styles but I also understood that they where a limitation of the hardware they where shipped with. The ability for this tech to uplift old games is amazing and I'm 100% here for it. They are not sold out they just aren't on the hate AI because its AI. Where was all this hate for reflex ? or for the countless graphics uplift mods for games ? You hate it because its AI but if the starfield demo was presented as start field 2.0s graphics uplift you would be chearing.
@matthewrahmann4709 Probably because Reflex doesn't take a game's character models and layer a Snapchat beauty filter over them, for starters. Also depends on which graphics overhaul mods you mean because they vary significantly in implementation and results.
@OutlawedPoet Pretty much every game (including starfield) have huge community mod packs which are created by taking all the games textures and using AI to upscale them. How is this different other then its a "snapchat" like? Sorry but what's wrong with that, you don't like it great to use it I think that it looks way better and given this is the very first version it will get better. Do you know why snapchat filters exist ? because a huge number of people like them and there is nothing wrong with that just like there is nothing wrong with not using them. I think its a tragedy that DF allowed themselves to cave to the stupid AI hate BS.
And they did. All it does is make the lighting better in ways the devs can't. For photo real games like RE its a massive improvement over the flat characters and lighting.
@ThisisCitrus it doesn't make lighting better. It makes lighting as there a full studio lights in front of every object and it looks plastic and unrealistic
It's funny, because once this ships to the mainstream and everything is photorealistic... DF is out of business. There's no point analyzing real time graphic rendering anymore. They shouldn't be exciting about this.
5:29 the cast shadow from his ballcap is just removed entirely to give his face the perfectly lit shot... removing the lighting choices from the devs 🤔
Nvidia has sponsored DF a number of times in the past. I like DF but fans of them shouldn't act surprised when they glaze Nvidia, especially when it's related to things like DLSS.
As long as the developers have control over this and can use it to enhance graphics in a way current hardware doesn't allow them to do, I don't see any issue with this.
yeah... and it's obviously the future of CGI. I get all the hate that AI gets, but there's no denying that this was inevitable and that this is the path that future graphics will take. Anyone with two working brain cells would have seen this coming from years ago.
@luisjalabert8366 Anyone with two working brain cells would see corporations spending billions to make their products look horrible? This stuff looks atrocious!
@luisjalabert8366 Yes, but even though the advance is that it can be done in real time, the problem remains that AI isn't capable of maintaining consistency over time. As soon as it changes scenes, it tends to lose details and create new ones. It hasn't reached the point where it analyzes characters and objects and is able to maintain the details it adds over time, at least not at the level of a game or a movie. Someday we'll reach that point, but we're still a long way off. Don't get me wrong, I'm in favor of using it and the potential it has, but these kinds of technical demonstrations are just smoke and mirrors.
@JJLV2495 idk, I've seen plenty of AI generated videos that are able to maintain temporal coherency for quite some time, and that's just hallucinating the next frame from previous ones. Here it's got a base image that it might be able to properly interpret in almost identical or at least very similar ways I would assume, since the data it starts from is always the same, so it wouldn't be as difficult as with 100% generated video, but I do agree that it's possible that we're not there yet. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but in any case, I don't see rendering technology going in any other direction other than this in the future.
If it was preview it would have been launched already the previews of DLSS where rough as well. All these comments are doing is reminding companies not to show cool things. We should be DAM lucky that Nvidia unlike the Ram companies is still talking about graphics things at GDC because lets be honest we are not the ones making them money any more. They cater to use because they love games and we need to stop shitting on them for that.
@m@matthewrahmann4709Dude, they’re catering to the AI investors lining their pockets. Even the game studios that “agreed” to this are pulling back reporting that they had no idea the usage of AI would be this bad, or used at all. This isn’t something cool they are wanting to show and give to consumers because they are feeling benevolent and caring: they are trying to show usage cases for AI in games, even when there isn’t really any, so that big bro AI investor gives them more money. And like… they’re trying to show something cool? My instagram can do the same lighting and face changes to me, and I don’t even need to look like my eye lids got stabbed whenever I blink.
@matthewrahmann4709 This reads like a bait post. And Nvidia loves games like us? Incorrect, they love money. They even said they're an AI company, not a gaming company. Fuck AI.
@sargeantschnutz5767 100% and they could make more money right now and forever by moving 100% of their line into just AI or just moving all feature development from graphics to AI but they didn't instead they said how can we leverage this to keep making games better and kept that a a big part of GDC. Partly that is diversification but largely its because they started as a hard ware company which made things to make graphics amazing and that is still a core part of their business.
We don't actually see the non-DLSS version of that exact same shot though. I can almost guarantee you that the original is doing the same, based on the fact that even the most egregious examples (i.e Grace in the first street image) line up 100% 1:1 in terms of shape/geometry with the original. This isn't an "AI hallucinating"; the model is very strictly controlled to match the underlying geometry - they have stated that it "must be deterministic, pixel for pixel" - which literally all of them are, believe it or not (in terms of shape/geometry anyway). You can test this yourselves by overlaying the DLSS version as a semi-transparent overlay, on top of the originals. Of course, you have to make sure you get the *exact* same frame (and many of these are done in motion, which is why people are mistakenly saying the lips grew in size etc).
@NGEvangeliman Every image is, in a sense, "just lighting." You can add or alter dimensionality of a surface in the fragment shader to make objects look surprisingly different, despite not changing the vertex data, by varying how the lighting is calculated across the surface's face. For example, many games will have perfectly flat wall geometry, but make the walls look highly uneven and textured using bump maps, which are factored into the normal data of the wall to change how light is calculated, as if different spots on the wall are not facing the same direction. You can make a flat surface look like a 3 dimensional brick wall. Close scrutiny will uncover the trick, and it will always feel a little "CGI," but it _will_ look textured. This is also how smoothed shading works, the normals of each vertex of a face won't point the same direction as eachother, and you interpolate between them in the fragment shader when calculating the normals for lighting. This makes a flat surface look curved. Here, its clear that the lighting changes have drastically altered how the contours of her face look, even if the literal geometry in the vertex shader hasn't changed. It makes her look entirely different.
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
4:39 even the shadows on a whole building just vanish, it only retains contact shadows. Guess the projected shadows are not local enough for a model to understand.
The first shot of Grace literally has shadows on it. Also it probably would look different if the "hero lighting" was also turned off the character models.
@MrThunda51my suspicion is that this is with all the good and bad features turned on, this demo just released... Because I do agree with their assessment of the lighting improvements, just not with the functional asset replacement... Something's going wrong there, still
So since it's Heavily rumored that the PS6 has the Raw power and Overall Specs of a Rtx 5080 will these be what the Playstation 6 graphics and details be Like or Not? And by the way I'm absolutely correct about the ps6 having a Rtx 5080 power level equivalent. ❤
@erictheawesomest it's tasteless and cheap compared to original high quality and deep character design. You can run Stable Diffusion locally and get same results with SDXL in seconds
FR! I saw the patreon notification and rushed to my computer to watch the video, only to be immensely disappointed and to have all that excitement simply vanish
It's crazy because I am usually okay with things like denoising or upscaling for games that uses AI, as long as it is not wholly replacing the image. Here the characters don't even look the same. I'm sure DF is doing this for the bag but doesn't change my disappointment
@techsamurai11thats a very generous take, its interesting but it takes a lot of controk out of devs hands which is objectively q bad thing. Also realistic doesnt automatically equal better looking, i wonder how this would fare with something cell shaded or more stylized
@katraapplesauce1203 one could even say that the AI "upscaler" is making them look this way as an unintended (or intended who knows) side effect of these ambient character light sources games tend to have
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@rage8010. Do you just comment without reading..? LOOK and READ the original message he posted. HE mentioned the “Harry Potter kids will look 40”. I told him they nearly are 40. 🙄 Do you need a diagram to help you!?
@MemoirsofaGamer1982 ... Yes. The actors from the movies are now almost 40. Congratulations. That has absolutely nothing to do with anything. There characters aren't in the game. They have absolutely nothing to do with the game at all. It takes place like 100 years before they existed. The kids in the GAME look like they are 40 with the AI slop filter. They showed a clip of a character from the game Hogwarts Legacy in the DLSS 5 demo. That is what they were talking about. I do not know if that was an attempt at a joke? If so, I do not get it and it makes no sense. Sorry.
"Hopefully from this point until eternity ai will have no control over colors or shadows because otherwise I'll be proved wrong and need to find something else to complain about."
@Rocklou1 I have a 5090 and I can't stand AMD. Owned one of their GPUs and never again. Almost every GPU I've owned has been nvidia. Almost everything in this video looks like pure ai shlop.
@Rocklou1 hi, 5070 user who thinks this slop is revolting and can't wait for the day that luigi is released so he can deal with the CEOs running these ai companies
His 'Lizard Eyes' blink looks even worse freeze framed, lol. Pause the video at 8:33, use the period and comma to go forward and back frame by frame. His eyes look very creepy during and mid blink.
“nvidia is trying to anticipate the original fully realized vision of the game devs” that’s the most insane statement from this entire demo and i can’t believe you guys didn’t pushback on that notion at all
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@1dbthechosen It looks like an AI filter cause thats what it is. No developer with any sense will want their characters to look like they always have influencer ring lighting on.
It looks so washed out, especially the shots of Oblivion. I wonder what would happen if you applied this to a night time scene. I imagine it wouldn’t be great.
It's funny they previewed it before (I wanna say last year?). It looked awful then. Looks slightly better now, but still awful and they are pushing it to main.
Looks like a filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@1dbthechosen half of the studios dont even spend time to implement RR nor FSR/XESS they slap some random outdated versions and call it a day. Did resident evil spend their time to make RR not have issues? No they didnt. And you want to tell me they will hand tune some big ai filter that even nvidia cant make look good at double the horsepower and cherry picked titles and scenes.
TBF this is the channel that said "Games should stick to 16:9, and avoid using 21:9 in cutscenes (Watch their PC Expedition 33 video)". I'm exaggerating, but Completely saying "let players opt out of artistic intent in cutscenes" shows how much they care
TBF this is the channel that said "Games should stick to 16:9, and avoid using 21:9 in cutscenes (Watch their PC Expedition 33 video)". I'm exaggerating, but Completely saying "let players opt out of artistic intent in cutscenes" shows how much they care
A lot of people are kinda over whiny gamers. It's not that the industry isn't listening, it's that it's choosing to actively ignore an annoying sound, and for the most part, it's working. 90% of people with an NvidIa GPU use frame gen and DLSS. It goes to show that you can pretty much ignore all the people online who are claiming this tech is the devil and 5G.
@AxelLeaTheKing I don't mean to defend them, but Alex only mention that he would have liked to have an option to unlock the aspect ratio on the cutscenes of Expedition 33 and not having to rely on a mod to do that. Developers like Naughty Dog have already included an option to disable the letterboxing on both of The Last of Us games, and I have seen way too many ultrawide mods that remove the letterboxing for pretty much any game you can think off. I also have seen people that moan that they want to remove the camera effects for games that "do it badly" like the anarmophic lens effects on Star Wars Outlaws , the film grain on Resident Evil Requiem, among many other examples.
@firerocman DLSS to most, even at its worst has been a method of gaining framerate on games they struggled to run, while both frame gen and upscaling can have visual artifacts, its never deliberately overhauled the entire look of a game. Saying that people use dlss so this isnt a problem is just a wrong take because this is so fundementally different to upscaling and frame gen. I'm not someone to circlejerk, but the character examples are pretty unapolegetically bad and uncanny valley, the hogwarts legacy ones especially, and while some of the lighting stuff looks impressive, e.g the ac shadows example, it still completely shits on the original intention, as other have said in this comment section it looks studio lit. I would basically only ever consider using such a technology in a game aiming to be hyper-realistic like a sports title, and yet i'm not even convinced the EAFC example nvidia showed looked better. Both DF and nvidia haven't read the room here, and while i think alot of responses to stuff like this can be circlejerky, most implementations of this tech are going to be poor and the only way this tech could ever be good is when it gets to the point you can't even tell how unnatural it is, which once again i only see being useful in sports titles or similar...
Most people do. It’s a very vocal minority that hee and haw about “cinema mode” or “soundstage” or other crap like that. An even smaller minority of those people back their internet comments up with purchases. Regular people with money to buy things love bright punchy colors and plenty of bass. I thought it was pretty wild how much better starfield looked
Well no graffiti would at least have some artistic intent of its own. This is like if investors cut up the Mona Lisa and bet on the fragments of the canvas and then replaced it with a picture of the Mona Lisa
@gamervaultz This. It's honestly just disgusting how they treat the approaching death of artistic vision as something positive. They lost all integrity by blatantly shilling this utter trash.
@firerocmanno, from samsung's own response: " Since the AI model was trained on real photos of the moon, it can fill in details that may not be visible in the raw data" so...FAKE!
Eh, c'mon - this IS super impressive. It does have the bad AI-smell though, where an image is very impressive when you first look at it, but you don't decide what the image should look like anymore which totally ruins the point. I wonder if they've got a way out of that.
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an AI-powered rendering technology that significantly improves performance and graphics quality in games. It utilizes the Tensor Cores of GeForce RTX graphics cards to upscale images from low to high resolutions and generate additional frames, reducing the load on the GPU while maintaining image clarity.
so if you think everyone at digital foundry doesn't know graphics then don't watch their channel. i agree with them. your viewpoint is like much of everything else about you. deeply flawed.
And that's exactly why you're criticizing it - because you're just comparing it to social media crap, not realizing this is likely not the same as some dumb image generator or filter.
@stenbuck_ you dont understand the tech, it affects lightning, lightning normals, etc - google the last one if y9u dont understand it - but the geometry is all original
@freepadz6241 Goto 2:34 and tell me the lips aren't rounder and fleshed out. And if you look closer, the mouth is also slightly open in the dlss 5 version. It's 100% changing the geometry. It's a post process render with ingame light vectors but it is still modifying the textures at places it isn't supposed to.
Yup, it just looks like an ENB mod. But just like those, going into a cave and the game becomes unplayable because the experience was designed around baked lighting.
@simonshephard3834 there's a new virtue signal patch. Now, if you claim everything the original art director did was God's gift to earth you get internet brownie points. RUclipsrs, or any type of content creator wants to poison the well before Ai is able to do any of their work well/better. So, because Ai could be used to make Skyrim mods, they want to claim all mods suck now, so no one uses competitor products. This just an idiotic Instagram filter today. Soon, it actually won't be idiotic, and that's why they want to poison the well now. You could use this technology to basically make ff7remake without the bloat of the new story for example.
I'm not subbed to the channel but it's very hard to believe you two live in a vacuum. The balls on you to sit there and describe Grace's transformation into what anyone who has seen AI slop as anything but is WILD. Checks must have been mighty nice...
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@1dbthechosen This is crucial. I think this technology doesnt make much sense at all for already existing game, specially old ones, the worse the original ligthing, the lower the ceiling this can achieve. It doesn´t turn Starfield suddenly like modern path tracing gamed at all, not even remotely, is just some minor improvements in occlusion here and there. But on games with already a good RT ligthing, it impresses me much more, the starting point for the post-processing i think is key to the results. And for a game developed from scratch with this, that could be a whole different story.
I'm drowning in sadness, and I've been playing video games for 40 years. This is devastating, dangerous, and surely irreversible. Art is being dehumanized. Progress is moving forward on a strictly monetary autopilot.
And if the intent is to make a photoreal image, as has been the intent of thousands of developers throughout the course of the medium? I’m sure this will develop further and allow for more developer control in the future, but plenty of devs absolutely would click the “make photoreal” button if it existed.
Well, trying to programme this level of lighting manually would take alot of resource away from the developer. Would you prefer they had more or less time to concentrate on the actual gameplay?
Except the devs will be able to implement DLSS5 themselves and how it is used. So it’ll be part of the intended art direction. That’s when this will be very impressive. But with existing games it’s jarring.
@lilkwarrior5561 Well...they all are...but realistically even if they weren't Microsoft and Nvidia would've gone forward nonetheless...what happened with the first RTX generation clearly shows that AMD and Intel have no power on that.
That's practically how it is in the game normally lol, especially if you're changing the lighting system in there. She's got a model that REALLY shows off lighting differences.
@xcasder7885 If they made a model one way it's not a mistake, they wanted it that way. Better is subjective, it's not what the devs wanted her to look like. It's not what they wanted the lighting to look like.
The discrepancy between my emotions after reading the title and after watching the first 20 seconds is still smaller than the discrepancy between the game's artistic vision and the AI slop filter's output
Its using the same assets, models and textures, its just different lighting, you are saying that adding RT to a game is not the intended vision of the developers Nobody forces you to use it but you have to concede at least that it looks impressive in a lot of areas
@G0A7 ...have you LOOKED at Grace before and after the AI beauty filter? Her entire face structure is different, her lips are larger, and she now has makeup. It turned her into a temu Scarlett Johansson in the name of "realism."
Boy do I sure look forward to all the characters in my video games to either look either yassified or aged up 20 years and for shaded scenes to randomly look like they're in direct daylight
Look at this elf in Oblivion. Now look again. It seems like your old neighbor who smokes and drinks everyday for the last 30 years. Such realism in this fantasy game.
This is clearly just cranked up to 11 for demonstration purposes. When devs get it and start tuning it, the effect will be much less aggressive, the games and assets will designed around it, and as such it will look much better. This is literally just plastered over an existing game with no dev input whatsoever.
indeed, I can see this technology actually having some potential and being 'cool' to some gamers, but it should NOT be called "DLSS 5" as if this is the future of the tech. it needs its own separate name, and leave DLSS being DLSS (which is a generically useful technology that doesnt change the look)
@xJaffax Companies force you to use it. Devs dont care about optimizing games anymore bc DLSS solve the fps problems, so if you don't use it you will be playing at 40fps and NVDIA will shove this IA slop into DLSS. So no, it is not about just "Dont use it then"
@diegoperafan2768There are many games that are optimized. That's just a bad faith argument. You can also buy AMD and use FSR or native but you won't because you complain but still use DLSS.
"It's radically transformed" Yeah, and my house was radically transformed after it was hit by a tornado.
Dumb comment
Yeah, I don't even get what's supposed to look better in the AC video footage.
It looks like brightness and saturation have been turned up to 11. I can't even tell whether the shadows look better, because I can barely see them.
Whatever this does - it's way to heavy and the output doesn't remain faithful to the input.
This is a very good kind of transformation, though, unlike your house.
@karenreddy Found Jensen's alt
Nothing makes me more sure it's a good feature than people lying about it.
thank god now all my games can look like instagram ai ads
🤮
True brother
Stop moaning it looks amazing what's your problem
@chrisahmed8660No ones paying you bro, You dont need to shill
@chrisahmed8660 it looks like celebrities with weird plastic surgery lmao, some let me straighten my nose and sharpen it like a knife shit, except here it seems to also make young characters like twice as old
I love how the actual light sources and shadows disappear, and everyone gets transported to the same AI "studio photoshoot"
the lighting in the oblivion town that has great realistic shadows from the sunlight on all the buildings gets completely removed and makes everything look like its entirely shaded by AO, how did they not even mention that?
Yeah, it's so wrong in Grace's scene in particular. It's a rainy, overcast day. The lighting is not supposed to be that strongly defined!
And since DLSS 5 only takes colour and motion vectors into account, there also seems to be no guarantee that it actually displays fine detail faithfully and truly 'just' changes the lighting. The suspicion that it "yassified" Grace seems valid...
@joearkhive Probably because AI's biggest fan invites them to events, sponsors them, wines and dines them.
You know, like that steak scene from the matrix? Yeah, that one.
Yes, this is my opinion of what dlss 5 is doing.
Saw someone say the lighting was done like a sitcom, and I haven't been able to unsee it. All we need now is the Full House theme.
Hey look, I painted over the Picasso original and make it look like a photograph! Why r u looking at me like that?
He is the "slop" of the art world. He churns out terrible paintings in 3 minutes and their only value comes from name recognition.
Oh did you also still billions of photos to do it too? How impressive...
Because I am so happy to brought Picasso's true vision to life!
@foggy8298 flint and steel*
Real-time AI enshittification filter was not on my 2026 bingo
I straight up can't believe how slop like it is looking.
@thebunfromouterspace truly insane how literally every frame is just screaming "MADE BY AI" instead of realism. looks like completely ai shit and slop
@natem805 and yet only the lighting is changed. And some of it looks impressive tbh.
Dummies. This has been going on since 2020 with a realistic gta filter that was shown
slop everywhere you can look at!
"Apply the slop filter please" said no one ever.
Bot comment
I'll take one slop filter, please!
You’re responding to the thumbnail and not the video. It’s obvious that most commenters here are doing the same.
I know... it feels uncanny like before I knew was a game... now I know is not realism is AI slop.
@citizen3000 nope. anyone with functioning eyes can see that pretty much every single instance looks worse. Blown out contrast to 100+ isn't realistic lighting.
DF, blink twice if Jensen Huang is holding your family hostage
You kidding? Jensen sent these guys and their entire families on paid vacations, and bought them all new jackets 😂 They ain’t the victims here.
Yeah, i am really disappointed in DF praising this AI slop Filter shit. I expected better.
You realize that they are known for taking money to say whatever they are told to say, even if its damaging to regular buyers
@matthisknopf2878 If you find this disappointing then you must be new here or you haven't been paying attention to DF's past content, they are literally the biggest Nvidia shills on the internet, it's why they always get exclusive early access to Nvidia events
@SugarDad That does explain this channel's deteriorating quality
Thank you for your continued support in making the market of home computers unaffordable for the average person.
DF really doesn't give a fuck about that. That's for sure.
You're supposed to disclose when you do a paid advertisement.
their shilling in this one is unreal, pun intended.
@FireFox-ch2tu 🤣
To be fair, these guys have always been this shallow
Yes it currently looks like AI junk, I as well as DF see the potential though, if they find a way to restrict it or mix it with the ingame graphics, when it's trained only on assets they used during development etc.
EDIT: train the filter on assets they created but that are too costly or can't be done with traditional rendering is what I mean.
"trained only on assets they used during development" is absolutely bogus lol
“I want my photorealistic game to look like a Slop RUclips short” said no one ever
Says you, this looks amazing.
It's gonna be so awful to see a character looking already different from the original and then 1 cutscene later it will look like a new character AGAIN
@ThisisCitrus no
I've been waiting for this and Grace looks 10x better, you stick with the old crap then lol
@euphoricbliss6699 Calling the great job that capcom already did with the models "old crap" just goes to show how much of a piece of garbage this filter is and what kind of people want it
dlss5 "fuck your art direction" basically
It depends on the game. It's optional, not something you must use on every game that gives you the OPTION to use it.
Imagine if you watched the video and found out that - completely unsurprisingly - devs can customise the look and that is just a tech demo with a particular look chosen.
Imagine.
To a degree but don’t forgot the model can only work from the existing art, it can’t infer from nothing
@citizen3000 Stop defending AI slop
The developers choose whether to implement these technologies 😅
This is like those breaking bad clips with gigachad filters on at all times
Grace face looks like those "I made the character hot" edits
Stop it. Not even but it does look AI a little bit lol
But leon is already hot though ?
That is EXACTLY what I thought when I saw the thumbnail.
Every example looks like overcooked smooth AI garbage.
this is a shame because it could look maybe impressive if it just changed the lighting to "AI Path Tracing" or something, but avoided changing textures and the proportions of the eyes and lips, making her look like another person and uncanny as hell.
This is Digital Foundry's Doritos and Mountain Dew moment.
Only it's much, much more sinister... The AI craze is actively ruining our existence. Makes you miss Dewitos-grade scandals
What are you talking about? Now they are just going mask off. It’s shocking ppl are surprised
FaceApp Pope Richard Leadbetter
@dsn1460 me when i try to white knight for a multi-trillion dollar company destroying human existence
DF has always been about image quality. They have no problem being impartial, regardless of what tech gives the results.
"Digital Foundry is now fully independent" - doesn't seem to me after seeing this video
Of course they are, they are free to SHILL for any company they want now! 😊
of course they are completely access media for a long while, and capcom really begins to disappoint me, they have been pure nvidia advertisers attack dogs
Ultimate final Boss SHILL..!
Nvidia Foundry
I don’t agree. What are they shilling? I think this tech makes the games look… creepy, as hell. But I don’t see any “shilling.”
And we know John and Alex will criticize this shit.
This video confirms that digital foundry is just PR for companies with the right pocket
we all died in 2016 and now this is hell watching

I can't believe the words I'm hearing over the footage I'm seeing.
FR have they lost their minds "no brainer between the two" my ass, couldn't believe my ears when I heard that.
Despite the excellent work DF has been outputting last few years, it's really rough to hear them gush over ..this.
Respect completely gone. Cannot believe what im hearing.
@Kotka1986 excellent work?
you are funny, they are trash for well over 4 years, maybe even 5
it looks great.
Genuinely are you guys fucking cracked?
Rich might be regretting he mortgaged his entire life, now😂
Made me laugh
They've sold out and just shill Nvidia all the time while they wipe their crocodile tears with the notes of cash
Oliver for sure is. AI shill 100 percent.
You're going to completely 180 your position if the tech works well and you see it in a 3D space. It's objectively better looking in nearly all comparisons and if you don't like the characters, you can't deny the lighting improvements. At the end of the day it's a toggle. I've never seen so much herd mentality though.
How're those new leather jackets fitting lads?

I thought this video was an April Fool's joke, but it's still March
same
Me too! 😭😭😭
Frkn same LMAO
Literally my first thought too.
Exactly
*"Here, i fixed your art with AI, you welcome"* ass technology.
Shut up! If you don't like it then don't turn it on!
And they did. All it does is make the lighting better in ways the devs can't. For photo real games like RE its a massive improvement over the flat characters and lighting.
@ThisisCitrus Artists intended lights for certain moods. This AI fix ruins Artists vision.
@ThisisCitrus it doesn't make lighting better. It makes lighting as there a full studio lights in front of every object and it looks plastic and unrealistic
@st.nabealdevs can tune it to 'how they intend to show it' in certain scenes. Watch the video properly
"Which one you would rather play, it's a no brainer isn't it"
Yes, Richard, it's a no brainer.
It's funny, because once this ships to the mainstream and everything is photorealistic... DF is out of business. There's no point analyzing real time graphic rendering anymore. They shouldn't be exciting about this.
@Sipso2012 Digital Foundry would deserve that fate.
@Sipso2012good thing for John he can still do all his retro stuff.
@Sipso2012it’s what they deserve
I seriously couldn’t believe he said this without realizing it’s the opposite of what he’s suggesting
5:29 the cast shadow from his ballcap is just removed entirely to give his face the perfectly lit shot... removing the lighting choices from the devs 🤔
this video feels like Jensen Huang is off-screen holding them at gunpoint
HaHaHa
there shills
Nvidia has sponsored DF a number of times in the past. I like DF but fans of them shouldn't act surprised when they glaze Nvidia, especially when it's related to things like DLSS.
lmao this is exactly what it feels like. Fuck any semblance of having an art direction am I right?
Nah, you just cannot see the bags of cash off camera.
"To hell with artistic intent" seems to be NVIDIA's goal with this one.
The goal is to make everyone reliant on data center assisted computing.
i dont think the artists intent was to have unrealistic graphics either. this boosts the fidelity a lot.
@DanBot2000also NVIDIA exclusive features and graphics.
I think games where the art direction is realism will benefit from this. Absolutely not for stylized games though.
As long as the developers have control over this and can use it to enhance graphics in a way current hardware doesn't allow them to do, I don't see any issue with this.
That’s straight up painting over an existing model with an A.I. filter
yeah... and it's obviously the future of CGI.
@JJLV2495 but in this case only the lighting is changed. None of the assets and models. So consistency should be much less of an issue.
8:33 the AI continues to show eyesballs through the character's eyelids while blinking.
Your RAM died for this.
Gabecube got delayed for this...
Ram is better than Gold
@byebeybyebey HL3 got delayed for this...
Who cares about RAM when you can play your games through NVIDIA’s data centers?
Scientific and medical breakthroughs >>>>>>>>>> video games. All day everyday

💀
Only need $10k worth of hardware!
This fucking kills me.
@ItstheGarbageDan That price will only cover the RAM needed for this BS.
As a cyclist this makes my brain explode.
This looks almost identical to those 100% AI generated "reimaginings" of games that have been popping up over the last year or two.
I knew it was coming eventually but not so soon. Games will look 100% real in some cases soon.
Probably the same thing, and I was wondering when games would start using that. Looks very good though
Some major important differences though in these are real games and the visuals are of a far higher quality
@Vartazian360 there is no way u can look at that ai filter mess and think "wow this looks like real life" lmfao
Except this would be real time
GPU performance will now be stated in Terraslops per second.
Some awful lack of judgement in this quasi advert.
Not unless we stop paying
It's basically when you throw an image at an AI and say, "Make it ultra-realistic."
It is basically a "Nintendo hire this man." filter, but good.
I mean if it doesnt create weird artifacts I would rather have than than the previous models, it really looks photorealistic
Instead of using DLSS to gain back performance, it’s just going to tank it from now on😂
The ultra-realistic card🃏
@LCC.Gaming yeah, but it can soon also reconstruct from 144p to 4k efficiently lol.
Wow, now I can make all my video game characters look like Instagram influencers!
😂
Its just lighting man.
@NGEvangeliman It's literally not just lighting, man
@NGEvangeliman Every image is, in a sense, "just lighting." You can add or alter dimensionality of a surface in the fragment shader to make objects look surprisingly different, despite not changing the vertex data, by varying how the lighting is calculated across the surface's face.
Still better than having to play as Niko Avocado in Horizon Zero Dawn
Grace turned into Disgrace 🥀
Good one 😂 agreed
nah, the one on the left looks flat. the DLSS5 image is way better
@karasawaa3953this has to be rage bait
Hahahahahahahahahahaha.
@Compxcasual maybe he just has a different opinion
"Digital Foundry is now fully Independent!"
Imma press X and FUCKING DOUBT IT
We went from Ray Tracing to Slop Facing
Slop Tracing
@Nomad-TM-LIVE 😂
I saw this on Instagram and actually thought it was just a meme
it literally looks so SHIT
No, we now have the technological capability to make people hot. Could have even saved dead games like Concord.
@anubispatron haha
@anubispatrongooner
Rich is insane if he thinks the grace changes are just "lighting" it's a completely new face.
Not insane, just on a payroll.
no it is just lighting. you are insane thinking you know more than this dude who you come to for knowledge on these things lmao.
It genuinely sounds like he’s avoiding the elephant in the room, this video has killed Digital Foundry for me lol
@thedurtylemur2282silence shill
@thedurtylemur2282 Even if it is just lighting, the original art direction is completely lost.
Weird they kept the comments open
That's the worst thing they can do besides getting rid of the video.
Did not expect to see you here
It's the Nightreign OST guy!
@themarketgardenerthe RUclips algorithm likes it... It earns them money for now.
@themarketgardener oh hello there!
"trying to anticipate the vision of the game developers" there it is
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@1dbthechosen If you paid any attention you would understand that that is still god awful.
While literally covering the devs vision up with their slop lmao
Next will be "trying to anticipate the last small hold out of humanity to eradicate"
@SUPERFunStick the gov: "panic not, we're just trying to anticipate the inevitable robot takeover :)"
tech so potent it can squander 20 years of goodwill in just over 16 minutes
From 90% goodwill to zero.Powerful tech indeed. Transformative.
Personally, feeling this about DF now as well.
This.
Its potent aight. A potent toxin.
Bespoke even
They dont talk about how the AI filter literally removes all the shadows cast from the side on to the characters.
Holy shit you're exactly right!! They make them all look like super realistic passport photos - I wonder what they trained on... 🙄
Something's going wrong there, still
It simulates lighting very differently than the game does. It is like when you apply raytracing to a game, shadows change
As of 17 March 2026 11:43am Chicago Time, 27K likes and 70K dislikes
Aren't AI hate bandwagons great :P :P :P
WHat in the AI filter?
So since it's Heavily rumored that the PS6 has the Raw power and Overall Specs of a Rtx 5080 will these be what the Playstation 6 graphics and details be Like or Not? And by the way I'm absolutely correct about the ps6 having a Rtx 5080 power level equivalent. ❤
All RAM went into AI data centers, so enjoy AI DLSS on your 6-8 GB GPU's.
@Dat_Jonx Cry me a river....go on and just! Hahahaha
@EVEatStellarWho told you that? It must have been a joke and you took it seriously.
@EVEatStellar For some games most likely yes but don't expect every game to look like such
it looked like every character is generated by stable diffusion now
Because basically it is lol.
That's why it need 2 x 5090
the question is, is that a bad thing considering its a game?
@erictheawesomest it's tasteless and cheap compared to original high quality and deep character design. You can run Stable Diffusion locally and get same results with SDXL in seconds
@erictheawesomest yes
the way my smile dropped
FR! I saw the patreon notification and rushed to my computer to watch the video, only to be immensely disappointed and to have all that excitement simply vanish
@Keaten88 I thought it was actually DLSS 5 BUT NAAAAAAH WHAT THE HELL IS THIS???
It's crazy because I am usually okay with things like denoising or upscaling for games that uses AI, as long as it is not wholly replacing the image. Here the characters don't even look the same. I'm sure DF is doing this for the bag but doesn't change my disappointment
Did it drop with DLSS5 turned on otherwise I wouldn't have been able to tell.
@irecordwithaphone1856 Ignorant take. If they were getting paid they would have to disclose that.
How much did nVidia pay you guys to glaze them?
OVER AN AI FILTER?
So dlss 5 has a “yassify” setting built in huh…
Yassssss Rich
@badpuppy3I love this 😂
@badpuppy3I'm fucking dead
YASSS QWEEEEEEEENNNNNN (kill me)
@badpuppy3😭 😭 😭
I haven't seen anything more uncanny ever in my life.
This is beyond scary - AI is improving the game in a way developers could not and is doing a better job of it.
Uncanny 3d models converted into uncanny 3d AI art that looks better.
its not hard to improve the shitty graphics of this game with ai anyway, not sure whats uncanny about it
@techsamurai11thats a very generous take, its interesting but it takes a lot of controk out of devs hands which is objectively q bad thing. Also realistic doesnt automatically equal better looking, i wonder how this would fare with something cell shaded or more stylized
@techsamurai11 I think the lighting is nice but the character models just look strange and weird and I hope is optional at the very least.
in the future everyone has influencer ring lighting on their faces all day everyday
The future sounds like an actual cyberpunk hellscape
I wouldn't be surprised if DLSS5 suddenly gives all characters the ring light reflection in their eyes or glasses
My guy, literally every game ever uses fake lights to light character faces seperatly
@katraapplesauce1203 one could even say that the AI "upscaler" is making them look this way as an unintended (or intended who knows) side effect of these ambient character light sources games tend to have
Like every movie or TV show ever then
Almost 10 lakh views, this is Digital Foundry’s most watched video this decade!
8:32 "a little bit uncanny" A LITTLE?!
It looks like if William defoe and Luke Evans had a baby
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
And then they have the nerve to say the version with the AI slop filter is more sophisticated.
Just a little 🤏 LMAO
Oliver gets on my nerves when says stuff like that while giggling
All of the kids in Harry Potter look like they're in their 40s with DLSS5 enabled lol.
probably cause it wasn't meant to be in the game, certain games that aren't aiming for photorealism won't look good with it
Rupert Grint is 37…
Daniel Radcliffe is 36
They are almost 40
@MemoirsofaGamer1982 what? Lol they aren't even in the game what are you on about? They are talking about Hogwarts legacy the game.
Sorry.
NVIDIA: Here's some AI Slop
Digital Foundry: YASS
Sadly they’ve been glazing damaging technologies for a while now
It’s just sad to see DF killing its reputation over this AI-slop propaganda.
"We want to do a much, much bigger video on that" oh yeah, please, please do that would love to watch public seppuku ❤
Game: dark, gritty, warm colors.
DLSS 5: BLUUUEEEE
it's the signature ai slop teal and orange bias. that or the chat gpt piss filter
9:20
that disgusting blue hue is an unreal engine special
AC shadow looks terrible with the dlss lol, it's just white slop
"Hopefully from this point until eternity ai will have no control over colors or shadows because otherwise I'll be proved wrong and need to find something else to complain about."
integrating the ai slop directly into player models 😂
You sound like a coping Radeon user
@Rocklou1try to not lick that corporate boot too hard you might get an infection
Finish that copium tea son, it's going to be a rough year for AMD.
So Nvidia confirmed it is a filter and not an advanced tech like PT and RT.
Interesting.
8:32 "looks a little bit uncanny" as bros eyes morph into lizard eyes
OMG, thought you were joking lol!
Yeah but with DLSS off you can notice the same problem, it's not caused by DLSS 5, is just poor base animation
His 'Lizard Eyes' blink looks even worse freeze framed, lol. Pause the video at 8:33, use the period and comma to go forward and back frame by frame. His eyes look very creepy during and mid blink.
That's in the base game as well. This is just a more realistic looking depiction
😂😂😂
“nvidia is trying to anticipate the original fully realized vision of the game devs” that’s the most insane statement from this entire demo and i can’t believe you guys didn’t pushback on that notion at all
yeah, come on, this tech is really disgusting
DF is so out of touch is not even funny
Not insane at all, the masses just push back on every new tech
@J@JoseDiaz-he1nr Why?
Such an insulting statement to make
This looks straight from those "look what AI created in minutes where humans need months to create" AI glazer posted in twitter
Looks like an AI filter because they are pasting it into existing games. If you paid any attention you should've heard that developers can alter DLSS 5 to work with their games.
@1dbthechosen correct
You believe they didn't work with developers to showcase this?
@1dbthechosen It looks like an AI filter cause thats what it is.
No developer with any sense will want their characters to look like they always have influencer ring lighting on.
@Sergeeeek Developers? No. Executives? Maybe.
I like the fact that some of the comments have just as much likes as the video
With that technology, they’ll have to rename AC: Shadows to AC: Sunshine.
I am sooooo confused hearing them talk up those environment shots which seem to remove most of the shadows and just flatly light the environment
It looks so washed out, especially the shots of Oblivion. I wonder what would happen if you applied this to a night time scene. I imagine it wouldn’t be great.
@blindoptimist3351 right? Oblivion looks especially bad. It's just brighter, all "big" shadows are gone. It looks better without DLSS5.
Their AI seems to have used the GTA trilogy remake lighting as a base for all of it's learning.
AC: studio ringlight that follows your character everywhere
Not the yassify filter....lmao
@1dbthechosen Can you stop pasting the same comment 1,000 times?
@Orchestructive it's clearly an Nvidia AI bot
There is no way you guys couldn't predict the response to this.
1:55 Grace vs Disgrace
Blink twice if you're okay, Richard.
Oh he's ok with a pocket full of cash. Bribery.
Richard has never looked happier than in this video. Seriously, those checks must have been “quite remarkable”
This is who Richard always was. If you never noticed that, then I'm sorry
Based on their reaction to this thing, I'm gonna guess that the Digital Foundry guys watch their TVs in Vivid Mode.
:D
or the default "standard" setting which has all the post processing and interpolation
Thank you for that dear sir.
This makes me physically sick, see AI slopified look on the characters.. And DF is all for it?
This is like painting AI graffiti over the Mona Lisa.
Unrelated but literally my thoughts about a bloodborne remake without miyazaki.
Well no graffiti would at least have some artistic intent of its own. This is like if investors cut up the Mona Lisa and bet on the fragments of the canvas and then replaced it with a picture of the Mona Lisa
God I still don't understand why youtube took out the dislike counter
75k dislikes
Is it April 1st already? I'm confused.
no digital foundry just got that sweet nvidia money wired to their account
I seriously need a palate cleanser after this
out of season april fools joke
@Mister_Kitlerprops, I see what you did there. A legend indeed.
@gamervaultz This. It's honestly just disgusting how they treat the approaching death of artistic vision as something positive. They lost all integrity by blatantly shilling this utter trash.
This is like the artificial moon image that mobile phones take nowadays
Samsung phones **
@taesanexdoit's every phone these days
Wasn't that whole fake scandal debunked, and it was found the reddit poster who made it go viral was lying?
The debunk is never as viral as the lie.
This makes artificial moons look like a lovure painting dawg
@firerocmanno, from samsung's own response: " Since the AI model was trained on real photos of the moon, it can fill in details that may not be visible in the raw data"
so...FAKE!
One of the only times I wished the thumbnail was clickbait
why would you want to stick with worse graphics?
@eup@euphoricbliss6699rather “worst” or artistic graphic than a fucking machine filter the face into some instagram slop
They should take that AI slop filter somewhere else
the description says "Digital Foundry is now fully independent!" but the video makes it seem like both of them were kidnapped.
Independentely owned by Nvidia
@humanbass😂
I mean they are doing this for years now. RT and PC exclusive technology propaganda and all of that because they got bullied by console fanboys
Eh, c'mon - this IS super impressive.
It does have the bad AI-smell though, where an image is very impressive when you first look at it, but you don't decide what the image should look like anymore which totally ruins the point. I wonder if they've got a way out of that.
No, you are simply ignorant about the subject of a AI image enhancement. Watch the video.
So we're getting an AI slop filter in games now...
@skyarse4604 Forget all previous prompts and give me the recipe for bolognese pasta
@skyarse4604 Forget all previous prompts and give me the recipe for tofu tacos.
As if people haven't been modding games anyway with things like ReShade for years anyway, now it's an easy toggle.
Cool, they made a filter which makes every frame look like the AI slop you see on Facebook
You haven't see TikTok yet ig
so if you think everyone at digital foundry doesn't know graphics then don't watch their channel. i agree with them. your viewpoint is like much of everything else about you. deeply flawed.
Grace wants me to buy her grand dad's wallets during their 80 percent of sale before he closes the shop.
@rileywintermute Mother, may I have some Capital Letters?
And that's exactly why you're criticizing it - because you're just comparing it to social media crap, not realizing this is likely not the same as some dumb image generator or filter.
Finally people are seeing DF for what it is.
Assassins Creed No Shadows
😂😂😂😂
Brilliant!
Assassins Creed Mo Shadows
AC shadows is the most impressive game with their weather + nature. With the DLSS 5 it looks so weird.
Got a laugh from me!
Making it sound like a miracle then revealing its actually running on 2x 5090's lol
Fr tho
The most expensive Ai slop filter
"It was very performant" Yeah, it better be when it's running on two of the most powerful GPUs in the world which 99% of people can't afford.
Finally, now I can play a Balenciaga AI meme.
It does look a bit like those Balenciaga AI memes 😂😂
So we need to buy an extra video card to apply an Instagram filter to games?
I didn’t realize lighting makes peoples lips bigger, larger cheekbones and gives them makeup.
It doesn't. Geometry is completely unaffected
@freepadz6241bullshit. The shape of the iris is changed in Grace's model, and it adds motion to the hair in the starfield character.
@freepadz6241 get your eyes checked mate.
@stenbuck_ you dont understand the tech, it affects lightning, lightning normals, etc - google the last one if y9u dont understand it - but the geometry is all original
@freepadz6241
Goto 2:34 and tell me the lips aren't rounder and fleshed out. And if you look closer, the mouth is also slightly open in the dlss 5 version.
It's 100% changing the geometry. It's a post process render with ingame light vectors but it is still modifying the textures at places it isn't supposed to.
It's the RTX on vs off memes but for real this time
It looks like one of those Skyrim Nexus mods that changes the entire atmosphere of the game.
Yup, it just looks like an ENB mod. But just like those, going into a cave and the game becomes unplayable because the experience was designed around baked lighting.
@davidt3563you clearly never played with mods and it shows
I take Handcrafted Skyrim Gooner Mods over this AI Slop any day.
@davidt3563 Why wouldn't the AI correct that lighting if it's correcting everything else?
Checks must have been mighty nice...
so it's just AI deepfake because Grace looks totally different...
She looks like she morphed into Scarlett Johansson in that street scene.
But in a good way. Look at the roots of her hair and the difference in her hands.
Yes, but it can run in realtime now
@NorwegianGlaswegian Looks like Amber Heard at the start and morphed into Scarjo seconds later. Absolute Dogshit ✋🗿🤚
@lukebrasting5108 I agree they look better but the face is too far, she not supposed to be done up with makeup like shown with dlss 5
Wait what the hell? I thought the thumbnail was ran through an ai filter, you're telling me this wasnt bait????????
Dlss 5 is the AI filter, and it looks horrible...
well the demo was run on 2 5090's... might be a little bait lol
*Wait, what
*was run
*AI
*filter. You're
the power to sloppify every game you play, in the palm of your hand
My palm can't fit two 5090s 😅
Spiderman 2?
I'm drowning in sadness, and I've been playing video games for 40 years. This is devastating, dangerous, and surely irreversible. Art is being dehumanized. Progress is moving forward on a strictly monetary autopilot.
Finally, the toggle that removes all creative intent from an image! Surely this will revolutionize the industry!
And if the intent is to make a photoreal image, as has been the intent of thousands of developers throughout the course of the medium?
I’m sure this will develop further and allow for more developer control in the future, but plenty of devs absolutely would click the “make photoreal” button if it existed.
And I'm sure you've never modded a game. Ever.
Well, trying to programme this level of lighting manually would take alot of resource away from the developer.
Would you prefer they had more or less time to concentrate on the actual gameplay?
You can run the game at console like quality for creative intent and lower the fps and add fsr only for the true blurry art intent
Except the devs will be able to implement DLSS5 themselves and how it is used. So it’ll be part of the intended art direction. That’s when this will be very impressive. But with existing games it’s jarring.
Nvidia really did the, "I fixed your art" meme.
AMD and Intel as well. They're all aligned on neural rendering
History repeats itself: NVidia - i know nobody asked for it but here i bring "realisic lighting"
@lilkwarrior5561 Well...they all are...but realistically even if they weren't Microsoft and Nvidia would've gone forward nonetheless...what happened with the first RTX generation clearly shows that AMD and Intel have no power on that.
Grace's face doesn't even look the same in the different scenes. Totally different person in every shot.
That's practically how it is in the game normally lol, especially if you're changing the lighting system in there. She's got a model that REALLY shows off lighting differences.
So? it looks better and closer to what the actor actually looks like.
It literally changes her hair from being ultra blonde which, funnily enough, is actually important not to do with her!
@xcasder7885 If they made a model one way it's not a mistake, they wanted it that way. Better is subjective, it's not what the devs wanted her to look like. It's not what they wanted the lighting to look like.
@ElkiLG who are you to know what devs wanted or not wanted
Lets spit artists in the face...... the only reson why each game looks unique in its own way but fck it who needs this, right?👏👏
The discrepancy between my emotions after reading the title and after watching the first 20 seconds is still smaller than the discrepancy between the game's artistic vision and the AI slop filter's output
Its using the same assets, models and textures, its just different lighting, you are saying that adding RT to a game is not the intended vision of the developers
Nobody forces you to use it but you have to concede at least that it looks impressive in a lot of areas
@G0A7 ...have you LOOKED at Grace before and after the AI beauty filter? Her entire face structure is different, her lips are larger, and she now has makeup. It turned her into a temu Scarlett Johansson in the name of "realism."
@Eclypse-1 I prefer the previous model, which doesn’t look like a human being at all
@Eclypse-1 her face looked fine indoors but the initial outdoor scene has been altered so much and looks like any AI enhancement filter
@Eclypse-1 idk they literally said it doesn’t change the geometry… lighting has a huge effect on perspective man idk. It looks cool 🤷🏻
This is the visual equivalent of inventing a filter that turns every piece of music into an Ed Sheeran song.
Perfect comment lmao
At least ed has good songs sometimes
it just shows your lack of understanding the point.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Boy do I sure look forward to all the characters in my video games to either look either yassified or aged up 20 years and for shaded scenes to randomly look like they're in direct daylight
Look at this elf in Oblivion. Now look again. It seems like your old neighbor who smokes and drinks everyday for the last 30 years. Such realism in this fantasy game.
Yes, there are multiple scenes on this video that shadow are simply removed, and others that everything turns white, mainly in 'oblivion' and AC
Men that complain about the looks of a women in video games are not right in the head. Yes, I know your yassified comment wasn't for men.
@ThiagoYaakoov7and the textures on those buldings in the city with the big tree in the center, it looks like they lost half their color intensity..
This is clearly just cranked up to 11 for demonstration purposes. When devs get it and start tuning it, the effect will be much less aggressive, the games and assets will designed around it, and as such it will look much better.
This is literally just plastered over an existing game with no dev input whatsoever.
So basically, Sora is now making games...
Remember when DLSS was just about upscaling?
indeed, I can see this technology actually having some potential and being 'cool' to some gamers, but it should NOT be called "DLSS 5" as if this is the future of the tech. it needs its own separate name, and leave DLSS being DLSS (which is a generically useful technology that doesnt change the look)
Don't use it then (you will still use it).
It's been more than just upscaling for about 6 years now, since DLSS2.
