Strasburg Rail Road: Day Out with Thomas 2019-June 29, 2019

On a humid and sunny late-June day, we headed out once again to the famous Strasburg Rail Road to catch Thomas the Tank Engine and Decapod no. 90.
Thomas the Tank Engine, built by H.K. Porter, in Pittsburgh, PA, in March 1917, worked for the Brooklyn East District Terminal (BEDT) as no. 15. After the BEDT was dieselized, 15 was sold to the Southern Appalachian Railway in 1965. The Southern Appalachain Railway ran from Burnsville, North Carolina to Erwin, Tennessee. 15 worked there until 1975, when it was moved to the Toledo, Lake Erie and Western Railway in Grand Rapids, Ohio. It was later purchased by the Strasburg Rail Road and arrived there on May 9th, 1998. It was completely converted to a steam replica of Thomas the Tank Engine, and ran for the first time on April 29th, 1999. The engine is still currently in service, but only runs on Day Out with Thomas events on various railroads. (Gary Everhart, RRPictureArchives.net)

I maybe 18 and still like Thomas but I'm hopping to attend a dowt event someday since I want to see what the event is like and riding behind a life sized Thomas even if it's operational or not
