Most Americans are actually quite sane, but many of those have little to no faith in the system. This election is probably different. Trump always avoid accountability. Every question he didnt like was a "nasty" question from "terrible reporters".
His whole campaign is built around the idea that he is answerable to no one, and you think there's a scenario in which he'll take questions from the press?

This is nothing new, and happens with all stutters and is what they're trained to do.
More relevant than the half second flubs is the two hour press conference afterwards that showed he still has understanding of minutia and details of complicated subjects.

Kings don't HAVE Vice Presidents. Thats why Dumpster Fire hasn't announced one...
But they often do have heirs to the throne who are trained for that position from a young age. Very often, even in countries with little military tradition, the crown prince(ss) will be military trained as the nominal head of the troops. They will have gotten some university education in politics and law, and will be trained in being a figurehead through the tradition of royal patronage, where members of the royal household are patrons of different patriotic (and other) organisations, such as the country's Red Cross. They will perform royal tasks on behalf of the monarch, and be looped into the business of the country. And in more traditional monarchies, the crown prince may even have his own estate to 'learn the ropes', that's partially why the British crown prince is also the Prince of Wales, as Prince of Wales, he has his own castles and surrounding lands to manage to make him money.
Not saying this system is good, just saying that the average crown prince is better prepared for the job than the average vice president.
But Trump refuses to let anyone share his spotlight. He may put Baron up for it. When he announced that Pense would do COVID, he immediately took over as he could not allow Pense to get any of the credit. His VP will only get to do the dirty work.

Your explanation shows really clearly why, despite much of the popular commentary on the SCOTUS ruling, djt is NOT, and never could be, a 'king'. Put simply, he isn't royal, he's not from a royal family, not even a minor royal one. Secondly, not one of the (seven) Western kings considers himself above the law of his country. They are all constitutional monarchs... another factor that disqualifies djt. Bow out, wannabe Dictator Don.

The only reason Trump needed Pence was for his scheme to throw out the votes, which Pence would not (and could not) do. Obviously if rump gets in power again he's not going to even pretend there's a constitutional order he has to follow.
We had a primary and we voted for President Biden as our candidate. This is ridiculous! Wasting time fighting among ourselves instead of dealing with the felon.
What primary? The DNC anointed Biden and didn't let anyone else run. They even outright cancelled primaries in a bunch of states.
The issue isn't how the permanent democrats see Biden, its how the swing voters see Biden.
Sorry Delores, that was not a real primary. They had no debates...no competition. The dem party even did deliberate election engineering like telling New Hampshire that if they held their primary on the same early date that they had for many decades that their votes would not count because they wanted South Carolina to go early (a State heavily favoring Biden) so they could chalk up an early win. Plus they obviously hid Biden's decline as best they could from the wider public. No they committed FRAUD on the democratic primary voters. Biden only inspires the very few hard core democrats and intense Trump haters. There is just a little time left before the convention to change course. I voted for the ticket too! The fact that some of the opposing people (Cenk?!?) were garbage does not change that I voted for Joe. He's clearly the same guy I thought he was, I knew what I was getting into. All it would have taken was a call saying "you should cover Kamala doing xyz and maybe I can find some time for an interview on you channel to discuss it?" Boom. Kamala is all over the news. But, hey, I have an open mind, maybe she has been doing great things. What you should do is list the things she has done to improve the material conditions of the working poor and disenfranchised. I anxiously await your reply and to be educated on why I should support Kamala. I'm a prison/police reformist so it'll be a hard sell admittedly, but I'm sure you have a huge list of things the MSM didn't cover.

Most People didn't listen to 95% of the press conference. They will only hear the 5% verbal trip ups. Biden did do well. He answered a whole lot of questions articulately and thoroughly. Similarly, if you read the debate transcript, he answers the questions substantively with pointed policy.

Seriously. People vote primarily for the top of the ticket. If Harris is front and center she needs to be the nominee. It also lets Harris pick a running mate to help her. Someone like Shapiro or Beshear.
Undecided voters won't have any trust in the media if he steps down now. I think we are seriously underestimating how hard it will be to get traction with another candidate regardless of how well they speak.

The DNC fucked up AGAIN. We had several exceptionally strong choices during the primaries, and instead of continuing to move left (as Sanders had forced the party to slightly budge in 2016), they court the moderates and swing voters. NOT THEIR BASE.
The answer is not the status quo. The answer, as progressives have been screaming, is to go hard left. You don't play with the extremism of the current Republican party. You pull in the opposite direction.
Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line. That's why despite how heinous some of their platforms and candidates are they still win all the time. This is not the year for a purity test.
Several members of congress reported as doubting aren't really and have had to publicly state the news is lying about them.
Hopefully people are smart enough to realize a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris. 🤞

Outlets like Pondering Politics, Brian Tyler Cohen, Adam Mockley, Luke Beasley and Meidas Touch Network, among others, are worth looking at too.

I like the option of him going in, then turning her loose to finish the term. This secures her in place for a fair chance to show who she is, without the same harm they did with Hillary. Yes, this. Remember how nobody was excited about Biden first time around? Remember how they said he was old with dementia in 2020? He won because he is nonthreatening, and at least part of the reason he is nonthreatening is his race and gender. Which is wrong, but being wrong isn't going to stop sexist or racist people from voting based on sex or race. And really? They want to switch horses 4 months before the election? Mainstream media just wants the Democrats to lose, which is why they are pressuring Biden to step down. That doesn't mean replacing Biden is a winning strategy. It means the people whining about his age are paid to highlight his age by the people who own their networks.
I think Biden has put to rest any critique of his current capabilities. But he's old, and reassuring voters that there's a rock-solid succession plan can only help the ticket.
Also, Biden and Harris don't always appeal to the same set of voters. They both need to be out there. And all the other Democrats who are sitting around panicking do too.

I mean, when FDR ran for his fourth (and ultimately final) term, one thing that was a concern was that he would not survive another term. As such, he did make sure to “sell” his VP in his campaign, which turned out to be rather important within a matter of months.
Harris will get my vote if she's picked. Biden will too. So would a pet rock the democrats put up, if that pet rock is surrounded by subject matter experts.

In 2020 I decided Biden was too old. If he died in office, I was ok with Harris taking over. I voted against Trump. Nothing has changed in this equation from my perspective.

I still want to scream at the left-wing media outlets for making such a big deal out of Biden's debate performance instead of talking about the safeguards that exist in the system against a president being incapacitated for whatever reason.
Biden dying in office wouldn't be a big destabilizing crisis, and the way the media is covering this is actively helping Trump's chances at getting reelected.
