Those turned out fantastic. Anyone who get's one is going to be really happy. I have to say that a project where the majority of what you're doing is sanding is so unusual. Nice change.
Thank you for not putting any music on this one Carl! Love your videos, and this one is just as great, but better because I don't have to mute it throughout, or, avoid it altogether, which I admit I do sometimes... I know others like the music, but for me, I'm entirely satisfied just seeing and hearing your work happen, and the music over the top takes away from that.
Those are sweet Carl and great idea Heath!! I have no clue how to tag people on RUclips, sorry bout that Heath :( I really enjoyed the pics of you and Robin at Freight Liner too, thanks for adding those in for us. Think I'm going to have to use up some of my scraps one of these days and make some of those!
I took a lapidary class one time and we used a similar technique to cut and polish the stones as you used here. It brought back memories. I forgot all about that class until now. Anyway, these are beautiful! You do great work!
Soooooooooo I'm embarrassed. I learned about you from Peter Brown quite a while ago. At the time I was too lazy and stupid to click "subscribe". His murder bowl video brought me to you again...and I will not be making the same lazy mistake. Subscribed, sir.
great job, I love that stuff. after seeing you make a knife handle out of it, I want to inlay some in one of my future knife handles. I can't afford to do the whole thing, but it was cool. great job
I Iove those and they turned out so great. Is there anyway I could get one made in the shape of a butterfly or close to it? I have no way of doing it myself. Would you please let me know? How much it would be? Please sir!! Thank you so much!!!
I guess the drying time for clear enamel is a little longer than clear lacquer, but it looks just as good. Might even be more durable, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the tip. The key fobs are great, excellent way to use left over scraps.
hey carl is there a reason you are not cutting and shaping these like you would other stones and is there a reason your rounding over the corners instead of doing proper cabochon on these?
You may remember me asking you about the paint chips a few years ago? Well these keychains and a couple other do dads is what I was thinking. Glad you got some made and selling them should be easy! Take care!
Great Key chains and enjoyed watching the process. Would love to make one, but the built up paint is more expensive than Ebony. Lived in a GM town in Flint, Michigan. If I would have only known about this stuff. They used to chip it off and haul it to the dumps back then.
I toss my keys in a bowl I turned and I'm concerned the paint might break. do u think it break over time. i really want to try this project with my new powermatic lathe
Hello i love the stuff you make with it so i decided to take a look but it's bloody expensive! I don't really feel like stealing the trash of an automotive industry so i wondered if you had this from an old job or a friend?
Nice video. Thanks. Now I have another idea for the Fordite I got from you a few years ago BTW, I almost didn't recognize you ... I was expecting a black t-shirt.
Can you make a video to show how to make the paint chip blanks? I want to be able to show a body shop the best way to make & remove these so I can get some here locally. Thanks Patrick
Hi, I'm 13 and starting out with woodturning and I have a problem. I bought a lathe for quite a good price, about $140, but I still don't have any woodturning tools. I have no trouble finding places to get them, but I can't find any at a price anywhere near reasonable in my opinion. (If I were to buy them at the price I find them at, 2 or 3 of them would cost more than the lathe itself!) Basically the same thing goes for sharpening equipment as well. Can someone point me in the right direction, or at the very least tell me why woodturning tools are so expensive?
I really have no idea what I'm watching. I started out watching Liza Koshy and I ended up here . Help Edit: u earned a sub bcus ur voice is so soothing. Don't add any music
going to become a member just to enter for that bowl. I love that bowl got the 10$ membership. hopefully I win sounds like you are drawing or announcing on my birthday May 31

Thank you Zac! It would be cool to cast them in epoxy as keychains too.
I really love your videos. Watching you shape and create things is so satisfying, and I love the sounds of the machines. Your voice is calming too :)
Thank you very much!

I love these paint projects. Would putting a drop of ca on both sides of where you want to drill prevent the chipping?
Thank you! CA is a great idea thanks!
They all look great Carl, and what a great idea. I have a thin piece that was given to me years ago, now I know what to do with it :)
Cheers
Mike
Thank you very much Mike!
Take care,
Carl

Those would make nice little Christmas ornaments too!
That's a great idea too :)
great job, I love that stuff. after seeing you make a knife handle out of it, I want to inlay some in one of my future knife handles. I can't afford to do the whole thing, but it was cool. great job
Excellent, they look great...

Thank you Adam!
Cheers mate
Very beautiful keychains !
Thank you!
I Iove those and they turned out so great. Is there anyway I could get one made in the shape of a butterfly or close to it? I have no way of doing it myself. Would you please let me know? How much it would be? Please sir!! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you Tonya, I think we could do that. jacobson68@yahoo.com
Wish i could get some of that Fordite... nice to see it being re-used and repurposed!
Check Ebay! I really like working with it.
Cool project Carl . Gave me some ideas ✌🏽 have a good weekend buddy
Thank you Nick! Take care mate!
Love the work. Peter is the one who pointed this channel out for me. The only suggestion I would like to make is that you need better lighting.
Thank you Bruno!
Do you think you could get a piece big enough do make a shifter knob? I think that would be even more fitting than a key chain
I don't have pieces that big, but I've done inlays in wood for gear shift knobs.
The keychains turned out great, Carl! Looks like you have the twin for my keychain from Heath...I still find myself staring at it from time to time.
Thank you Mark!! Right!? I love the pearl in it :)
Thanks Carl always a pleasure to watch your video. Friendship Eric.
Thank you very much Eric!
Carl Jacobson c
Beautiful keychains!
Thank you Aleksey!

It really is a nice finish.
Nice video, I love the look of fordite... haven't had a chance to work with it but hope to some day. Thanks.
Thank you Tom! I really enjoy working with it!
as bright as those keychains were I would never have to worry about my wife losing her keys again. great job Carl.
Lol Thank you opa :)
hey carl is there a reason you are not cutting and shaping these like you would other stones and is there a reason your rounding over the corners instead of doing proper cabochon on these?
This stuff is much softer than stone, it's easier to sand the shape you what. I'm not a big fan of cabochons, I like the raw look.
thats really cool looking Carl! nice bowl too👍👍
Thank you very much Joe!
Carl Jacobson always bro!!
It is memorable and unique.
You may remember me asking you about the paint chips a few years ago? Well these keychains and a couple other do dads is what I was thinking. Glad you got some made and selling them should be easy! Take care!
Ya, it's a great idea, and they seem to be selling good :)
Take care,
Carl
Great Key chains and enjoyed watching the process. Would love to make one, but the built up paint is more expensive than Ebony. Lived in a GM town in Flint, Michigan. If I would have only known about this stuff. They used to chip it off and haul it to the dumps back then.
Thank you very much! Ya it's sad how much they just throw away.
Cool looking keychains! That stuff is big bucks on ebay! And I am sure they are getting it for free.
Thank you Tom! Yes it expensive, but hard to get too.
Cool idea. I'm going to hit my local auto body shop and see if they have this.
Thank you Marsh! Great idea see if they can save you some.
little out of my price range, but really awesome stuff!

Thank you man!
I toss my keys in a bowl I turned and I'm concerned the paint might break. do u think it break over time. i really want to try this project with my new powermatic lathe
The enamel is pretty tough, but it will scratch. I would suggest setting them in the bowl...lol
Oh no I just ❤️ love ❤️ love the murder bowl. Disabled Lady veteran in Alabama.

So, you can stock the key holders into the murder bowl 😁
You used the Lathe anyway 😁 nice

Hello i love the stuff you make with it so i decided to take a look but it's bloody expensive!
I don't really feel like stealing the trash of an automotive industry so i wondered if you had this from an old job or a friend?
Thank you! Ya it's not cheep because the paint process has changed, and you can't get it anymore.
oooh ok thanks for the answer!
I'll bet that Heath would like to put some of that Fordite in clear resin. It might look pretty cool.
Good idea! I'll send him some :)

Thank you John! lol I'm trying to mix it up :)
Very cute👍
Thank you Alice!
Can you make a video to show how to make the paint chip blanks? I want to be able to show a body shop the best way to make & remove these so I can get some here locally.

I don't work as a painter anymore, but it's just over spray cured in between layers.
Very nice 👍
Thank you!

Hi Steve!
I would look at starting off with carbide tool. No need for a grinder or grinding jig.
cool vid you inspire me to turn wood
Thank you very much Andrew!
I really have no idea what I'm watching. I started out watching Liza Koshy and I ended up here . Help
Edit: u earned a sub bcus ur voice is so soothing. Don't add any music

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it!
love the Fordite, but it is prohibitively expensive.

Hi James, YT has glitches very now and then! Try unsubscribing and resubscribing.
You gave the murder bowl as a giveaway? That's fantastic! Sad I missed it, but it's awesome you did it.
