Honestly this song brings back a bunch of sad memories I had forgotten from around 2001. I was stuck on this level for months as a little kid so the song played for a long time while my parents had arguements in the background. It was right after 9/11 so this song deff is like a core memory. Depressing times just like this song sounds. Everything was better before I got Earthworm Jim 2. Thankfully I had Sonic 3 and Sonic 2 to takes my spirits higher! Those songs hit me in a better light
I always liked the Genesis versions of the soundtracks better. The music sounded cleaner. SNES always used that damn organ/keyboard synth sound I couldn't stand
@@VergilHiltsLT Yeah, usually when there's two games on different consoles (SNES/SEGA) the SNES comes out on top in sound and graphics/sprite quality, but in Earthworm Jim's case the Sega version is clearly superior.
@@commandervile394 I agree partially There are some cases where SNES is better, but I found that more Genesis games are superior. At least the ones I like. Most notably Streets of Rage, Vectorman, Aladdin, Mortal Kombat, Battletoads and Double Dragon and many others. Mortal Kombat and many other games are censored on SNES, that's sufficient enough for me to disregard them. SNES has "better" sound purely in instrumental sense, but oftentimes sounds really muffled. The music is artificially instrumental, but not pure synths like Genesis which I much prefer. Genesis just packs a heavier punch and has its own strong aesthetic, whereas SNES just sounds like compressed, toned down modern music. Weak. Not to mention SNES music often interrupts sound effects, or they are missing entirely in favour of the music (sound effect limit). For voices, yes, SNES will sound better as it recreates sounds better. But can the same be said about sound quality in general? There's no reason to play Earthworm Jim on SNES when you have PSX with way superior audio. But the Genesis version has its own unique takes on sounds, and manages to hold up super well. Magical sound chip.
@@VergilHiltsLT Yeah, the FM Synth chip was amazing, I agree. There is also Ecco Tides of Time, ThunderForce, Gunstar Heroes, the Sonic trilogy and Knuckles. Lots of gems there.
2:20 the heartbeats, a callback to Intestinal Distress, because it's Doc Duodenum's summer place… no, wait, that's The Vili People. This is Queen Slug for a Butt's place, why are those heartbeats so? Maybe they swapped tracks before releasing the game, otherwise I can't explain why those heartbeats that sounds so similar to Intestinal Distress ones are there.
Hands down best version. Volume swells in the intro convey a moodiness the snes string samples miss on & Percussion sounds so tight and punchy; snes drums in it's version are just too reverby. And the Saturn version w/ its 🎸 is just a different (awesome) song altogether.
The genesis version isn't bad and it definitely has a killer beat. It just doesn't handle ambiance and it can't set the mood the way the snes version does. So for that reason the snes version always comes out on top
@@jadedheartsz Just because something wasn't made in mind doesn't make it bad or sound off. It's just different sounds with the same stuff pretty much.
*takes out the drum track* It's an Ecco the Dolphin song now
Why did you do this to me
Есть немного схожесть.
great... now i have to take out the drums and upload it xD
really love this tune.
sounds really sad but also upbeat at the same time.
it sounds depressingly hopeful
She's meditative.
Sad because we never got a proper Earth worm Jim 3.
i feel bad for those sega kids that missed on how good it sounds in SNES
@neil2905
So I'm not crazy because I got that feeling as a kid.

The main reason is that it is based on Sadness from Enigma
I remember this song. Simple but catchy beat. Nostalgia.
I used to play this game a lot in genesis when i was a little kid, good good times :')
This is no question the ear-wormiest song Tommy Tallarico ever composed (pun intended)
In case you don't keep up on him, his mother is very proud
Sounds like a miaterious song with a mystic tune
*mysterious
This is the best version of the song IMO
Snes ver and saturn ver: *allow us to introduce ourselves*
Wow mega drive did it well !
Lorenzen's Soil/ISO 9000 is track 7 of Earthworm 🪱 Jim 2 (Sega Genesis) (1995).
Одна из лучших мелодий на приставке Сега.
I feel like the genesis version is more authentic, maybe that's because this is the port i played
I always liked the Genesis versions of the soundtracks better. The music sounded cleaner. SNES always used that damn organ/keyboard synth sound I couldn't stand
The SNES version it's more akin to the cd versions
This sega genesis version is way better than snes version.
Agreed! Slaps so hard.

Saga Genesis always does soundtracks better.😎👍
This version sounds like it doesn't know if it wants to suck or blow.
on Genesis the level is actually called "Lorenzo's Soil"
No, it isn't.
@@alelauguz yes it is

The psx versión Is a complete masterpiece.
I always thought snes had much better music than genesis when it came to ports, but the psx version blasts them both away.
@@RBEO22 Yeah SNES version is very close to the PSX version actually.
Genesis track is great. SNES track is excellent. CD track is perfection.

Ya hay un 3, que sería el 3D, pero es horrible, este que tú dices cuenta como el 4.

Too bad, Snes sounds SO better
yeah right
All CD Consoles >>> Abyss >>> Snes >> Genesis
On Earthworm Jim 1 there are some tunes that sounded better than Snes, on EWJ2 nope.
Que mala versión
This sound terrible. The genesis sound chip was ass in multiplatform games
nah it sounds dope

I disagree. The SNES has some banger soundtracks but Genesis has a certain grittiness that keeps me listening
