I agree with Sarah. Double dates are for couples who are friends, not first dates. Of course there's going to be one guy or one girl that's more attractive to both members of the opposite sex. Recipe for disaster.
I found it interesting that Sarah went straight to that one specific problem. My concern would be more generally, what's the likelihood of finding two people who click with two other people? Like, it's already hard enough to find someone you hit it off with, what are the odds that two friends happen to both hit it off with two other friends? Seems miniscule to me. Two people fancying the same person is definitely part of that though.

I don't know about the UK, but here in the US, I don't feel like double dates are all that common. They happen when it's either a) couples that already know each other or b) a couple trying to set up their single friends. 2 people hooking up with 2 other random people via an app? I don't see it as broad a consumer base as they think.
It's like a tandem bicycle rental service. I'm sure there's someone out there, but not that many.
Pay to contact someone? Massive red flag there, with free chat apps like tinder/bumble etc with far more users, no one uses pay to contact apps anymore, driving more people to tinder. There would end up being a handful of users in a vast radius, and paying to contact them is a death blow for any dating app in the last 10 years
And no sign of it with a Google search. Guess that 3 year plan didn’t quite work out as hoped. 😂

All it takes is one out of four people to be not interested for any double date to fail. And the chances of that happening increase dramatically when it's based on strangers found on the internet.
In real life, double dating only works when there are two couples who are already dating separately but are also friends with each other. The idea of using an online app to setup a double date between strangers is absurd.
Also, I'm shocked that any of these otherwise serious and thoughtful dragons would actually hand over serious money to three clowns dressed like idiots. They clearly don't take their business serious.
From my own observations in real life, double dating is something usually initiated by the woman in a relationship in order to find a mate for a significantly less desirable female friend from among her boyfriend/husband's more desirable single mates.
It usually results in a disaster when the two single/unattached friends aren't interested in each other.

Also, what happens if one couple hits it off and the other doesn't? Do they have to keep dating in a group or do they split off after that? And I guess if one person finds a relationship then their friend is left alone to look for another partner to keep dating?

I only know this because my lecturer highlighted in one of his lectures that one of his ex-students appeared on Dragons Den. He said the investment from Nick went through but they didnt make any money and eventually went bust.

When one date has a second date, their friend has to find another friend to double date or go back to single dates. Flawed idea, so for that reason I'm joining triple dates.

You can't patent a double date. These people know that. I can't count how many times 'no protection' was a deal breaker. Half a dozen companies could have this built into their dating whatever in 48 hours if theres even a hint of profitability.
