Why cant they make more steel coasters that fly over the hills like this. I have been on over a hundred individual coasters and lemme tell you, Every B&M I have been on has been just utter trash, they crawl over the hills. They need to FLY over the hills, were talking 40-60 mph...only Intimins seem to do it be they wood or steel. RMC has some good stuff too, I rode Steel Vengrance...the Intamins just feel like they are launching you out of your seat.
Steel coaster have more friction, and are clamped tight to the track by three sets of wheels. Wood coasters have one set of steel wheels, running on a steel strip. Much less friction.
@@johnulmerRacing The momentum loss of a steel coaster is actually less than wood precisely because it is clamped to the track. Wood coasters loose energy every time the car shifts and bangs around. I have been on a few that actually fly over the hills, and rmcs do it like no one's business. I personally think it is because B&M fears doing anything even mildly powerful on their non inverts.
@@johnulmerRacing I'd also like to point out that wooden coasters have 3 sets of wheels just like steel...but they have far more tolerance between them and the track. What do you think holds you on the track flying over a hill? It is not just gravity.
@@spider0804 I should have been more detailed. I am talking about the rolling friction, only one set of wheels on the wood coaster makes contact, until negative g situations, or lateral g situations, where it is required. And yes, those clamped polyurethane wheels create more friction. RMC is a good example, I'm glad you brought it up. Even with the increased drop height on Texas Giant, and 800 ft less track, it still crawls through the ending, where the old coaster flew on to the closing brakes. Same with Iron Rattler and it's original. Steel coasters will not carry the same momentum, at the same height, as a wooden coaster. Steel wheels on steel plate simply creates less friction. Of course, a wood coaster that doesn't have good maintenance is another story. Voyage absolutely flys through its 6500 ft layout while only being about 165 ft tall. Same with El Toro, and it's the Intamin fart that keeps it on the track. Also, if you think B&Ms crawl over the hills, then you've never ridden Fury, Diamondback, Intimidator, or Orion. If you're basing it on Candymonium? Okay, I'll give you that one.
@@johnulmerRacing I have ridden all of them, Diamonback is alright but still crawls over the second half. Fury has the B&M rattle the worst I have ever seen it and again crawls in the second half. Orion is alright and the 200 foot Intimidator is the worst hyper I have ever ridden, every single hill is trimmed. Intimidator 305 is my #2 behind Pantheon but that is an Intimin so yea.
@@HayFatYT40, but it was mainly my neck and I hurt my neck in a pretty bad car accident years ago. @@JJdaSamuRai I do agree. You sit in basically the old runway train box type cars. Vertical seat that supports only half your back. Garbage small handles if you needed them and then send you at like 80mph on an intense ass ride. If it was just a tad slower or had a little more support, I would have loved it.
I felt like five people kicked the crap out of me after riding this. I still have neck issues six months later. I should have sued.
are you old or like..
@@HayFatYT40, but it was mainly my neck and I hurt my neck in a pretty bad car accident years ago. Maybe it was the car I was in, because I heard that it does matter on this ride or maybe the way I was sitting. The boxy unsupportive cars didn't help and I was on it during like the third day of it's reopen. The first drop was awesome and if it was maybe 5mph slower I would have loved it, but for some reason it felt like an elephant was standing on my head compressing my neck.
Its the head restraints there are practically none on here sorry abnout that.@@Hatemode_NJ
Maybe I tensed up too much and it was only like the second day after it reopened last year. Thing was going so fast it almost seemed like something was wrong. But I heard from other people don't sit above a wheel. We went on a non-crowded day which was awesome, still every row had some people waiting except the one my and I jumped on (towards the back) I feel like they knew something we didn't lol. I'll never ride that fkn thing again. Nitro, Medusa, and Superman are the best there.
@@Hatemode_NJI wish you had a better experience with this ride because man it is amazing, I wish you luck with your neck though
I rode it in the rain( started raining after I got on)and man talk about pin and needles.
This ride felt like was Tina Turner as bad as it beat me 😭😭😭 had the biggest headache. Medusa whipped me pretty good too.
Who saw kinda ka
*Kingda ka
I did. It’s at 0:33
it does not have seatbelts and sh*t so you gotta hold on tight.
it does have seatbelts🤦🏽♂️
does have😂 just rode it today in the first row, damn that view of the first drop was amazing. looks like you were crushing the ground vertically
@@ZipNoBluff when i rode it, it did not have seat belt.

I believe "El Toro" is the name of an old wooden ship from the civil war...
It mean the bull in Spanish

You get thrown on those type of tracks you dead dead.
1:36 this is the part where it derailed...
That’s not where it derailed at. Derailed after the first drop
@@TheSecretsofAddictionoh yea but it stopped in this part
Ahhh, the intamin fart is back baby 😏
heck yeah
First drop makes you feel like your stomach drops to your throat, but I really liked this ride
the fact they reopened this ride and it feels like it’s brand new again is awesome, they did a great job repairing it
I actually work in on it, did the reconstruction thanks for the ups we worked out asses off for this season
@@ethanthedeersorts2103i think it need some more work chief still love it though.
Six Flags Great Adventure coming thru BIG with the insane turnaround for Toro. You can tell they love this ride as much as us enthusiasts do! Truly the crown jewel of the East Coast! Toro lives!!!
That minor derailment was a wake-up call to always maintain your rides.
@@zacharyyamashita8554 they did, they literally did. They followed Intamin's rules and stuff but it still happened, and they have steel crossties on it now.
I went on this ride last week for the first time. Literally felt like I was on a car accident the last few days.
It's a great ride, but I have to say I much prefer nitro over this ride, el Toro is just to rough and you get a crap ton of whiplash, it's a good ride to go on once or twice.
They’re both #1 in my eyes two different experiences
Yuh stoopid. Yu cent say dat el towowowo int beter den penistwo. Penistwo is stoopid.
This ride is vicious, your neck, back nd head may hurt a lil after, but so what?! u aint no punk! Get on nitro after , you'll be ready for anything then 😆
I work on it, it’s “thrill” ride for a reason
i jsut went on it yesteday , and my friend told me keep your back straight at all times that helped a ton because how forceful it is no pain and they upgraded it to it felt really smooth it didnt feel rough
@@stevenrubio-vasquez3552 Yes, it's better after they worked on it. I went on it just a couple weeks ago and it's not bad at all. I mean it's still rough... it's wooden. But anyone complaining about it should compare it to Predator at Darien Lake and get back to me...
this ride is just straight whiplash
I’d usually enjoy El Toro but the last time I went on it, it nearly knocked the wind out of me…it felt like it almost snatched my soul smh 😂
Just left great adventure and El Toro was up and running all day. It still whips the same and I can't get over how amazing the first drop is! Thank you six flags great adventure for fixing this magnificent beast!
Scariest shit I've ever been on, way worse than Kingda Ka. Never again.
Personally I had way more fun on this than Kingda Ka! Still one of my top 3 coasters taken. Kingda Ka scared me more but it was more the anticipation than the ride itself.
I never done kingda ka but I’ve done el toro. Kingda ka looks scary as hell
“Thrill ride” maybe try the water park
At least you can say you rode the best wooden coaster in the world!
@@ethanthedeersorts2103Nobody cares.
My fiancees last name is DEL TORO so I always tell her they named this after her
This ride is pure insanity. My son went on it 4 times. I can be impressed by it while still absolutely hating it, because it’s not my kind of coaster (my son begged me to do it with him the first time, so I did). I thought I could muscle through it, and it wouldn’t be that bad. Looks are deceiving. This is not a typical wooden coaster. Good grief. It is super high and sure fast.
Really don’t take little kids under 8 on this no matter how tall they are imo. It’s too intense! But for everyone else that likes drops and lots of negative Gs, I’m sure it’s a blast.
My little sister is 8 years old and she went on it and was amazed, I'm almost 11 years old and when I got on it I thought, best coaster I ridden, it's so intense and filled with airtime
My 9 year old son wanted to ride it, but when I told him how intense it was he backed out. I was kind of glad he did, because I don't think he would be able to handle it. I am an experienced coaster rider and can barely handle it lol
Guys. Tomorrow we get to ride one of the best coasters in the world after 9 months.
Had a sore neck for like a week after riding this thing twice. Totally worth it.
You never been on wooden coasters then. These things will kill ya even on the best days
Toro is supposed to be super smooth. She just had an accident yesterday and sent people to hospital
