G'day James & Carina, I'm looking at buying a Gear up soon in Australia, so look forward to your videos with good and bad reviews. Safe travels Cheers :-)
Enjoy! We will start to do some more videos soon. Hit a deer a few weeks ago. Killed the deer instantly and all I had was a small dent in the windshield fairing. Tough bike!
bullegal coming soon. We are in Europe to get our visa’s. Planning to start blogging once we get to the states after the 25th March. Will put out a quick update vlog before that though.
Hi, just saw a video of a guy here in California who burned up his right side piston and cylinder with a winch in that same location. The winch blocked the air flow to the cylinder and it overheated on that side. Be careful with yours.
Looking forward to following your Ural journey. You certainly seem very well prepared! However, I'll be very surprised if you can climb hills at 50 or maintain 65 on the flat with all that gear, a sidecar passenger and a trailer. Any wind at all will also slow you to a crawl.
Surprisingly, it will maintain 50-55 uphill in 3rd gear happily. We won’t be going any faster than 60 on the flat in any case, and 55 most of the time.
ripper shakedown mate quite professional like >>>> we will be looking forward to following your ride. do you have an air compressor setup sorted. if your going off the blacktop deflating tyres will save some pain etc
Just found your channel, hope you are soon able to get back on track with your plans. Who is the manufacturer of the trailer? Looks ideal. Thanks Cheers from Vancouver 🇨🇦
@@redbaronnomads3223 I've had numerous sport touring motorcycles but never a Ural. I know Ural has updated their machines, especially 2017-2021. I'm looking forward to your insights. Stay safe.
Hi, I have a 2019 gear up, just wanted to let you know that the 2014 and up Urals are known for the gear oil leaking out of the final drive vent at highway speeds. They put the vent too low on the housing. I solved this by removing the vent from the housing, installed a 8m x 1.25mm set screw with some RTV on the threads in place of the vent and got a dipstick with a vent built into it from Ural of New England. I put over 500 miles of highway driving and have had no issues or leaks. I took a 900 mile trip before I got the new dipstick and had to wipe down the final drive everytime I stopped for gas and it also made a mess of the rear tire.
@@redbaronnomads3223 I also have the same 2 into 1 exhaust system but in black. I did notice a little better throttle response and a little better power. I also put on a throttle asist to help on the long flats, also got it from Ural of New England. On my road trip I was packed light, averaged low 40's on gas mileage, one tank hit 47. When all this stuff blows over I will be moving to Arizona, what part are you in?
Scott Evans we were living in Scottsdale for 3 years. We have now packed up, and are on lockdown in France. We were supposed to start our journey this week, but that’s been delayed quite a bit. Now having to re-evaluate our plans. Arizona was fun for motorcycling, but summer was a bit hot!
PROHLADA unfortunately we went back to France, just before COVID, and have been stuck here since with the Ural in the US and no way to get there ! Once we can get back in, we will start creating episodes again!
DestinationHamzic yep a GoPro for this one. Will be using 3 GoPro’s and an Insta 360 One X for the big trip. We also have a drone for taking some cool shots too!
I know exactly where you ride took you. As a matter of fact you were within a few hundred yards or our home. Your vid will be shared with the gal sitting next me. Thanks.
Chris Weigel we got that from Ural - their new 2-1 system. Not cheap, but better sound, up out of the way, and all little more power from the engine in the midrange
Chris Weigel it doesn’t, I had to modify the base plate by cutting some slots for the exhausts to run through. Took about15min to mark out, and another 15 to cut with a cutting disc
Stephen Littfin we start at the end of March, and work our way around the US in an anti-clockwise direction over the course of 6-8 months, going up as high as Halifax and across the top before coming back down.
Great work - enjoy 😉. Can you keep us updated about the Ural, good and bad bits as well please 👍
Make sure you come up here to Alaska, in the summer. A bit of mud, lots of construction, and skeeters!

Lip close to Holy Paul Florida where there is a dealer look at them often sure wish Honda made something like that with stand in line to buy
Subscribed, can’t wait to see adventure.
Joseph Gagnier welcome! Not too long now. We kick off on the 29th March. Will be doing some lead-up videos before that too though
Look forward to videos of your trip!
looking forward to the next vlog

I have temp gauges for bot sides, and it is not showing much variance between them

@@redbaronnomads3223 By "happily" I assume it's not over-revving. That is surprising. I have the same bike as you.
Doesn’t seem to be. I generally wouldn’t go above 50 uphill. 55 is revving a bit high for me.
Awesome first video! Looks like a blast.

Jem Ty yep, compressor in the toolkit as needed! Thanks mate!

Already subscribed and looking forward to future videos. 😏
KYLE DYE thanks! We are currently waiting to return to the US as soon as we can, and once the borders open!

Scott Evans yeah I have that problem, and will solve it the same way. Our trip has been put on pause though, with the Corona Virus situation.

Ralph Bosse awesome! It’s a beautiful area of the countryside out that way!
There is no way that motorcycle can handle all that load. Good luck, you’ll need it.
The Ural's maximum permissible weight is 1325 pounds. They should be fine as long as they follow recommendations.
Where did you purchase the upswept muffler?
Chris Weigel we got that from Ural - their new 2-1 system. Not cheap, but better sound, up out of the way, and all little more power from the engine in the midrange
Thanks. I didn't know if the Ural system would fit around the Kalaber skid plate. I know they are creating one as well.
Chris Weigel it doesn’t, I had to modify the base plate by cutting some slots for the exhausts to run through. Took about15min to mark out, and another 15 to cut with a cutting disc
Can that motor pull all that weight?
It did just fine on our test runs
@@redbaronnomads3223 😀
