Gotta love how people are calling PP's army a "troll army." It's just countering a meta that's been in place for far too long is all. Gotta respect his foresight and skill.
Thanks! It's quite possible to beat this Empire composition with a cav heavy Greenskins build, which I've done in another tournament, and relatively easily at that (it was pretty decisive). I was thinking whether or not to send Maximus these replays, but I suppose now I have the answer. The anti-meta counter counter. :)
Hey man if you're fighting the empire expect any number of loadouts. Extreme flexibility and versatility in their roster so you gotta keep that in mind. Anyways it's nice to see something other than MELEE BLOB ATTACK GO in a tournament. Always a good day to see black orcs get pulverized.
GreatGranpapy This battle was particularly not hard, as the enemy had a specifically vulnerable setup. So, this one, not even close. But overall you need to go push your own game to kite and destroy an army that has both foot missiles and interception cavalry counters. Playing without staying power is walking on edge. To put it simply, your enemy should play awkward, and you are bold and swift enough to pick at those weaknesses. And also careful enough to not waste your riders, which is the general mistake done all the time. And that you have enough attention and endurance so your riders won't be roaming off the battlefield because of an ignored pursuit. It all adds up, you need to know what you're doing. Between players of comparable competence it is only a matter of luck in army setups.
why do high tier players never use artillery? i feel like a large portion of the multiplayer community thinks artillery is good or overpowered with many servers limiting it but pros even using dwarfs never really seem to use them, is there somthing they know that we dont?
The thing is artillery is only worth the (expensive price) if it fires a lot. Which means you'll have too keep it alive till the end game. But usually if you brought artillery, you won't have enough units left to defend it. And if you leave some units behind to guard the artillery you'll lose the main fight. Also there are lots of cheap fast units (like Goblin Wolfriders, Fellbats or even Pistoliers) that can distract the artillery while the rest of the army advances. I would argue though, that an Empire Great Canon, a Dwarf Canon and a Dwarf Organ Gun can pay off with a bit of luck.
There are some good specific uses for artillery. For example, if you're playing as Dwarfs against Empire, cannons could do well. They would, however, have a specific role: snipe the Demis from the beginning of the game. They're pretty effective at that.
The reason people make no art rules or max art rules is because many find them annoying for casual games. It forces you to be very aggressive or get blown up. It is also to prevent troll players from spamming art and wasting people's time.
All the people complaining about PP's army setup here are going to shit bricks when the Wood Elves are implemented- they're an entire army based primarily on archers! Now how do you think such an army is meant to be played...
Utter Troll army by prussian prince, yes a lot of greenskin players have got into the lazy habit of not bringing enough cavalry but that is a pure kite army I wonder if he wasnt winning whether he did endlessly run away to drawin another game, a tactic that I have seen from this composition in QB employed by other players.
Not a troll army. It's like the skirmish builds you saw in Rome 2. If used correctly they could win against standard melee heavy armies. It's what happened here. A viable army comp to counter a melee heavy build, played by someone with the micro skill to do it.
Well against greenskins, chaos and vampire counts the problem with facing this build is more acute, but it is even possible to use this against players using balanced builds with other races with good range(bretonnia, empire mirror, dwarfs) by just trying to trip them up, if they keep up with the defence and dont break formation to chase you then you just kite endlessly until the timer runs out and you get a draw. That has been my experience in QB versus this, other people have experienced this build in previous tournaments as well which you can look up on the forums. I may well be wrong but from my experience it requires a specific build to counter it not a balanced army.
I wouldn't have kited endlessly to draw the game because I'm pretty sure my opponent would be given the win by the admins of the tournament in that case. And whether you consider it a troll army or not, for me it isn't but I can see why some people think it is. It's just a build that I have confidence in when playing against Greenskins (at least when I'm up against standard compositions).
TPP is such a good player, but he really gives up his dignity to win these tournaments. I mean, obviously he was going to win, he sent you the replays, after all, but I would have preferred him winning by actual skill (which he has) and not gay army comps.
Well there is no way I can win this tournament since (spoiler alert) I forfeited the finals because the game's too boring, unbalanced and there is too much RNG for me. It is clear that whoever was in charge of multiplayer had no idea how to make a proper one, but I almost feel like there wasn't anyone. Regarding the skill required to execute this build, there is skill involved, for sure. Also, I sent Maximus plenty of replay losses in Attila that he posted. So, there's that. :D And how do you bring in dignity to a competitive environment? That ends at "gl hf", "gg" and being nice to your opponent in chat. Whatever tactic/strategy/build you employ has no bearing on honor.

That was a masterclass in cavalry tactics. Well done by the Prussian Prince

Yeah, Empire is very flexible. Still, Vampire Counts are even more flexible. lol
That's the kind of battle that puts people off multiplayer. He should have had a limit on skirm cav and normal cav
It takes no fucking joke to execute.
Gggleplus Suxx i guess as hard as high level micro of sc2 pkayers?

I call what azag did hero surfing. This is a common thing on routing heros that they get pushed and just do not take a hit.
A satisfying game :) Nice to see some skirmish ( even when i'ts whole game) in Warhammer
Gg, that was the ultimate counter build!
jese, all these mp games make me feel inadiquite with my campaign victories.
the unpredictable MP of TW Warhammer
2018?
2020?
2021?
24 😢
this is why the empire is so strong
kinda reminds me of a carthage in rome 2 but the empire's high end options are easier to make cost effective. can bring an army of any kind
yea orcs are bit like the germans/gauls with great infantry
why do high tier players never use artillery? i feel like a large portion of the multiplayer community thinks artillery is good or overpowered with many servers limiting it but pros even using dwarfs never really seem to use them, is there somthing they know that we dont?
because artillery is only cost effective if you let it shoot for a long time and has a dozen counters
The thing is artillery is only worth the (expensive price) if it fires a lot. Which means you'll have too keep it alive till the end game.

+Joe Shmoe Sadly there are a ton of other ways to waste peoples time in a TW game...
I swear ive seen this battle on the same map before......
pretty sure HeirofCarthage casted this game aswell..

Some wolfriders could have made that a lot more difficult...
So a great counter to the 08/15 Orc rush build is now a troll army?

ThePrussianPrince Yeah, that's probably the reason I get slaughtered in tournaments. I try not to exploit all the cheese that Warhammer offers^^
I'm glad you also see twwh meta deficient for anybody with keen obsevation on balance and variety.
