    Speaker: Professor. Brian Miller
Brian P. Miller is the Sam Frumer Professor of Accounting at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and Associate Chair of the Residential MBA Program. Professor Miller’s research focuses on decision making by various capital market participants involved in reporting and using financial statement information - including managers, board members, regulators, and investors. He explores decision making through two primary lenses: (1) monitoring and (2) disclosure effectiveness. His research on monitoring examines the determinants of decision-making by directors and regulators with a primary focus on restatements and regulatory investigations. His work on disclosure effectiveness examines the role of various disclosure characteristics (e.g., textual readability, reporting frequency, etc.) on investors’ trading decisions and price formation. His work has been published in several prestigious journals including The Accounting Review, The Journal of Accounting and Economics, Management Science, Contemporary Accounting Review, and The Review of Accounting Studies. He serves as an Associate Editor at Management Science and on the editorial boards at several other prestigious journals. He is also the recipient of the awarded American Accounting Association’s Notable Contribution to the Accounting Literature Award.
