- Time to get the Red Sea Max Nano Peninsula set up and full of salt water so that we can start the cycle of getting ready for fish and coral.
In today's video we take a look at the rockwork, sand, mixing salt and finally kick starting the cycle using a traditional method that is rarely seen or used today
Nice 👌 Paul
thanks Paul
Cheers Paul can't wait to see end result 👍
Thanks Tony. This is definitely a slowly slowly tank so gonna be about a year before it takes shape
Very nice tank!! 😎👍
Thanks 👌🏻
A brilliant tutorial video on how to start the cycle. Loved this one, super simple to follow. Love how you've taken the old skool approach. Can't wait to see how the cycle goes. Love the aquascape and brining the RO straight away saves a lot of time 👍🙂
Thanks jay. Trying to keep this tank super simple with as little effort and kit as possible. Want to show that reefing can be relatively easy and cheap ish
Looking to purchase one of these as my first marine tank you made it look so easy but I do have some more reading to do . What live rock can you recommend ? Can you buy it in big peaces or to you have to build it to get the shape you want ? Looking forward to the next video of this 🎉
Looks great Paul. When I had my Max Nano I never had a power head. I just upgraded the return pump to push out more flow.
Good idea. I won’t be going sps so I think flow should be strong enough but could upgrade return. 👏🏻👏🏻
Such a cool little tank Paul, even the Joey Essex sand 😂
It certainly is Darren. Still not 100% on the sand but it is currently brown and full of diatoms
I like your rock scape I have a Max Peninsula also. It is challenging to make a cool scape on all 3 sides. I did the same as you on the scape halfway up also and I also have a front sand bed. I went with the BRS 100 watt w/Helio controller. I am very happy with the Peninsula.
Looking forward to your next post.
Thanks for watching. It is certainly a challenge to create a scape that works on 3 sides. It is a lovely stank for sure 🙌🏻
Nice vid on the tank Paul. Scape looks very nice. Defo room on the sandbed for a couple of more rocks if you wish. It would keep the corals off it !!
Thanks for watching, appreciate it. I have added a couple of small pieces of rock from one of the other tanks so will help add some life to a sterile tank. Can always add more as I go. 👌🏻
Nice
Thanks Michael 👍🏻
Great video. Where did you install the heater? The rear sump is quite crowded. Can you give me detail on where exactly you inserted the heater? Much appreciated.
I fitted the heater at weekend and there is room between the skimmer and edge of middle chamber. Seems to be sufficient room although a little tight
@@fishpalace Thank you. My heater is slightly too large for that. It does fit underneath the skimmer, and would lay on the bottom of the sump. Do you think that would be a good idea or no?
Are the pump connections to the power center proprietary? So if they have issues or want to upgrade you cant use the power center anymore?
Both the skimmer and return pump are so if I upgrade either piece of kit I will have to go straight to mains and bypass the power centre
@@fishpalace thanks for the quick reply! How are you likely it so far, and how is the quality of the skimmer, pumps, and light? Been out of the hobby for a couple years now and seriously considering this tank as an easy way to hop back in.
@@johnson4523 just finishing a 3 month update that covers build quality of display, lights, skimmer, return pump and should be out in about 10 days. Will continue to update on how I have found the kit every so often as views change as tank progresses and kit beds in
@@fishpalace thanks, appreciate it!
Aqua Medic 100w titanium H2O sell 100-watt titanium
Good idea. H2O is my closest LFS so might take a look 🙌🏻
