Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm 28 and my babies are both now 3 months old. In so much pain and shock still but I will push on for her and do her proud with the twins mate 👍. Think it's definitely worth getting the dengue vaccine, definitely don't want anyone else going through what I'm going through.

Hello Richie. My Thai wife and I have been successful business owners for 14 years now. Entrepreneurs are risk takes by nature, and a very large percentage fail because we tend to leap before we look. It's fine to have dreams, as long as they are grounded in reality, and yours right now is that your business partner is pregnant. Don't make any big decisions such as taking on a partner or buying land for a new location with such a huge unknown on the horizon. Keep doing what you're doing, and do it well. Have the baby, then reassess. You'll be glad you did. Best of luck in life!

I have visited their place and I must agree with you. I believe they should maintain what they are doing and they will come. No need to rush into it take very small steps. I have seen so many companies close by trying to go bigger to fast.

    • @SeanHendy
      @SeanHendy 11 месяцев назад

@@dennishill1128 for me its a no brainer. Diversify by adding a non tourist based business, no seasonal ups and downs, and reduce risk overall.
Optimise the existing business and leverage where possible, that existing customer base and following to launch business number 2. My go to would be ecommerce, low start up cost, far less risk, and easy to outsource functions.

Ideas are a dime a dozen. It all about who is implementing it. The best thing about you is how you leverage social media. Not sure about expanding, I think people expect to see you and Maybelle when they visit. I might just focus on just moving to a better location. So many businesses fail when they try to open a second location.

Concentrate on what you have and relax and live a nice life what Thailand has to offer you. Yes more businesses and money would be nice but because of there distance between each other you will be tormented with travel and pressure. Best of luck whatever you decide ❤🇨🇮

Richie, crazy about Ricky and his Thai wife , I only just started watching his channel. I contracted Dengue fever back in 2017 when I was living in Phuket, i went to the pharmacy for the first two days and got different drugs, one of my staff at the hotel suggested going for a blood test and I did, yes Dengue fever, I spent the day on a drip at the clinic a few doors from super cheap ( near crossroads of soi banzan and Nanai road, excellent clinic and cheap) I was very sick for about a week but mild sickness for about 3 weeks, takes it out of you. Get an injection, thousands of Thais die each year from Dengue because they dont want to pay for a doctor, or think the pharmacy will do, but they are sick for months until the virus get into the brain , game over at that stage, thats what I envisage happened to Rickys wife, poor sole.
Business Plan, think of what you want and where you should be, then work backwards, staff, customers rent, salary for you

You're making a critical mistake in thinking that your two "head or heart" options are to expand into malls or expand into replica coffee gardens. My head says an important option to consider is not to expand at all, and instead stick with what you've got and protect it / improve it, because you never know if something better is going to open down the road and steal all your customers.

Regardless of the location or how beautiful the place looks, if the food is below par then your not gonna get returning customers and you can’t always rely upon the RUclips community to live on mate, my advice mate goes without saying but get yourself good cooks and staff, together with good quality food and your half way there mate 👍👍🙏🙏🇹🇭🇹🇭🇬🇧🇬🇧🍻🍻

Yeah, I saw that same news about the passing of his wife, and left with twins. Tough times. A very good friend of mine from way back in school, we reconnected some 20 years later and his news floored me. He got married in his early 20's, they were expecting, and mid way through the pregnancy she was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Clearly she couldn't start any treatment at that point, had the baby, and she then passed 8 months later. Sadly, within a year, he also lost his parents, about 2 or 3 months apart. My mate said that if it hadn't been for his son, he doesn't know if he would have made it out the other end. Now some 15 years later, he has remarried, and he is doing well, but that is more than most people can handle at one time.

Richie, best wishes to you and Maybelle. The baby will give you joy you never thought possible as a single man! For your business plan, why not share? All that can happen is that you get help with it, and some fresh perspective. Personally, I think Phuket old town would be a great spot for another version of 'Maybelle's'. Better foot traffic there. Tourists will always go there at some point. May well be a better money-spinner at far less square footage. Good luck with the babs!

I actually met you one day early last year in 2022 at your Cafe March-April but I wouldn’t expect you to remember me
Yeah this Dengue Fever is a real worry and the Doc told me it’s very likely I will experience this again ☹️
    I don’t think their is a vaccination 💉 that I know of ?????
Can you let me know if they do have a vaccination because I am planning to move to Thailand in 18months and probably visit again a couple of times before that

When should you not eat bitter melon?
Bitter melon may affect blood sugar levels. Check with a doctor before using it if you have diabetes. It could cause very low blood sugar when mixed with some diabetes medicines. Bitter melon is not safe for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.Feb 26, 2023

Well, a business plan consists of two parts. The business, meaning the idea itself and the plan (at least 5 years in advance). I guess you have the idea(s). But be careful not to cannibalize your existing business. Then you have just to figure out the "Ws". Who does it? In your case, is it realistic, that you run the existing business and build up a new one at a new place? Even, if your partner and wife may be consumed with your baby? Do you realize, if you're working all the time you will miss a lot your wife and your baby?. You know how much effort it takes to manage the existing coffee garden. So if you want to grow your business, you will be in need to hire a trustworthy manager, capable of running the existing coffee garden. Otherwise I do not think it will work. This might also be a problem for "when?". You cannot be at two places at the same time. And there is "where?" too. Distance is also important, too near might cannibalize the existing shop, too far, might steal the time driving around. And don't forget all the emotional stuff and stress. But OK, let's say there is a solution for all this. Then just write down all your expenses, you have to pay private and for the existing business on the monthly base. Add to them all investions for the new place and when opening, also the costs of running the place on a monthly base. Now take all income and loans and so on on the other side and see what cashflow is visible. This, I would recommend to plan for at least 5 years. And now do it again in three scenarios best case, worst case, and most probable case. And now you have a base for decisions. When I, together with my former wife, founded a medical tech compnay, this businessplan stuff did last more than half a year.

Dengue fever is terrible! I once caught it in Cairns Australia and was bedridden for 10 days where I slept 24 hours a day. The danger with Dengue is if you catch the same strand twice in 2 years as you can get heamoraghic fever which is bleeding in the stomach which you can die from.

You can do something you love and be passionate about, but will it produce profit? I don’t own any business, I only have master’s in business administration (although) it does not make me an expert 🤣, but having a plan in place makes sense to me and is a great idea that would allow a business owner to see other opportunities to expand your business in times of booming economy, or contract during low seasons. From past experience I would start by looking at your current customer base, and determine why they come to you. If you don’t already, you should be doing a full English, a vegetarian and a European breakfast, and put them on a Board outside and on your FB page. Teach your Thai cooks how to serve fried eggs our way (soft yoke) and firm white.
Your business plan should include projections based on previous sales figures from last year, and how you’re going to achieve those figures. Any thoughts of expansion in terms of franchises should be taken very carefully and seriously and licensees should be vetted carefully as it is your name and business reputation that will suffer if they fuck up. You must get a lawyer to drawer up a suitable contract for your franchisee.
Try not to polarise your business as British and introduce European breakfasts and learn what they consist of. There were a lot of Dutch in my area so I did Uitsmijters on my menu. Sounds like you got a few Germans and Russians, so do some cultural research. I hope this is useful and contributes to what others have said. Cheers, Steve.

Personally I would not plan any more work load with a baby on the way , the lack of sleep when looking after a new born cannot be underestimated. It was 38 years ago but I still remember it as a very tough year .

    I know one thing
If you open more business in other places you probably never stop work before you die
I am 66 year and from Sweden, married with Thai wife for over 15 year, live in Hua Hin
Do everything you can with your business you have, check every dish you have, if you make money
Check everything where you buy your grocery and meet
Take care of this business because you have started from nothing, survived covid and survived lo season
    Done big investment
I think it will be better and better when the investment you have done start to pay back
Maybe in low season take 2-3 day of sometimes
    Get back your energy
    Really a big good luck
    Best regards from
    Hua Hin

Its a difficult call mate. I think your business plan should ( for now ) remain your plan🤔. For me!!! Investors can help but they always want return. Shopping malls can be very expensive rates, just maybe?. A choice of a 2nd Coffee garden in a quaint!!! Area could be a very good idea, as your business model is great and i could see it going very well in the rite area especially OPT??. As for franchises i would still see that maybe considered 5 years down the line. Either way we wish you guy's all the very best for the future and we will always support you as friends and local business owners 🙏🙏

Richie- dont damage the brand- if its going to be "coffee garden"- it needs to be the same, if you go to limited menu style- it needs to be Maybelles Cafe or Coffee Lounge. Dont fracture the vision. On the business Plan- dont openly share the strategy until it is done- the competition dont need your advance warning on what you are doing- if they get a sniff, they will cut you out. Its theirstyle

So you’re going to have your baby on my birthday, wow that sounds great. Hope all goes well with your business plans and for the future. Take care and miss you both and my breakfast buddy

Obviously, the reason you have success is because you are what you are don’t change that if you look to duplicate your success. A quick analogy comes to mind, people love the big Mac at McDonald’s because of its special sauce but if you offer it without the special sauce, would they like it? 😉

We are looking forward to getting back to Maybelles Coffee Garden in January. We want to give you a gift for the baby. Any ideas? Around the 2000 baht mark or would a voucher be okay. Dave and Sarah

Hi Richie, we said hello last year when we visited Maybelle's and have followed your vlog from the start. I would be happy to create a website for you, blog/tips/advertising/workshops/tours/b&b/car and scooter hire etc

Do what you've always done Ritchie, and you will, back yourself. You'll make the right decision. You're a smart dude and seem to be able to see opportunities where others can't.

Hi Rickie & Maybelle Congratulations on the baby pregnancy every going well. After watching this video and it’s only my opinion I would suggest not taking on a new venture at this time especially with a new baby coming Maybelle will be kept very busy in the first six months looking after the little and I am sure you will help as much as you can. Honestly you don’t need the added stress of trying to start a new business, I’ve been in two partners and both were disappointing outcomes. I was told by my Dad best friend a business man never go into partnership do it on your own if you can as I said only from own experience and my opinion. PS I did make it on my own very well. Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul

You are a smart guy Richie and I am sure you will make the best decision for your situation. I personally believe if you always try to think of all the consequences resulting from various possibilities, you will ultimately make the right decision. Good Luck mate and ma'am.

You've got a 9 months delivery on your way. It's not uncommon that in the first months of birth there could be complications which might not only occupy your wife, but you aswell. Might be worth including risk management and timing into your business plan and ensure that you've set the priorities straight. Because if s hits the w, first priority will be the wellbeing of your family which could put a new business at risk.
