this fight gives me chills..want to see sawamura vs mashiba get animated too...it was most brutal fight of hajime no ippo... sawamura counters and ability was world class even without cheating.
in real life mashiba would be a bad match up for sawamura. he can just stay on the outside and snipe him with that jab. sawamura would be forced to go on the inside, which plays right into mashiba trap
An awesome showcase from Ippo but the real MVP is the referee. He jumped in an instant after the first punch to stop Ippo from absolutely massacring the guy. He really needs to be recognized as well
the last one was tumbling dice, the guy behind that music was the same guy who made h.t., the opening of trigun. so yeah, this scene just became more badass for me.
Because the story has been and still is at a frustrating point. There's no good material to wrap into an anime season as the main character has not achieved anything relevant after retiring.
There's still a lot more content before Ippo's retirement though, like his final title defenses as the Japanese champion, Takamura vs Bison and Ippo's fight with other national champions and those alone can cover a season or two.
not sure. But it might be that the studio Madhouse has too many projects working on. They been doing quite a lot of stuff. Ippo does get like 6 years or so between it's seasons. The last season of Ippo was co produced with studio MAPPA and they co produced together on some other animes as well around that time. Maybe when they get some free time to co produce again they bring back a ippo. But not sure how long that will take since Ufotable, MAPPA and Madhouse have their work cut out for them.
You know Makanoichi isn’t human if he is able to completely stop his momentum like that, even after being so worn down, and then punching with that much power right after! Mans got steel cables for muscle tissue.

He has limited stopping power, he’s able to stop it, make it go from horizontal to vertical and has every possible angle. The Dempsey roll is a death sentence for all who fight it
i find it frankly a shame they didn't use animators which were used for Kamogawa and nekota final chapters of this season, then this fight would have been incredibly awesome.

Mashiba is also good counter-puncher.. but heavily reliant on his long reach.
I know but sawamura was supposed to be as good as miyata in terms of counters...
mashiba definitely was strong than him in a brawl...both cheats many time against each other.

この曲採用した制作陣有能過ぎる。高村イーグル戦で流れた時も鳥肌たった
この曲も良いんだけど初代の方の処刑用BGMとしても使ってたOPテーマのinner lightも物凄く良いんですよ
千堂戦で使った構成を目の当たりにした時は痙攣しながら泣いてた
