This prayer is based on the Exaltation of Inanna, written by Enheduanna, the earliest known poet whose name has been recorded. She was the High Priestess of the goddess Inanna and the moon god Nanna (Sin).
Inanna is the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, sensuality, fertility, procreation, and also of war. This 5,000 year-old goddess was known as Ishtar in the Akkadian pantheon.

I was expecting more of an expository, documentary approach to the origins, rites, legends, history associated with Inanna, but ok...If you wish to expatiate through liturgy and rubric, who am I to argue?
I believe it's hard to find documented materials on her, since she is considered to be the oldest deity ever worshipped we have any records on.
She is also goddess of trans people
