Exactly! I was going to say the same thing! But you already hit the nail on the head! We love you guys and if you aren't working 20 hrs a day to turn out a car in a couple days, we're OK with that. If you make a couple videos of working on a certain project we will still absolutely love it! We don't you guys getting burnt out and deciding to quit RUclips. There's only 4 RUclipsrs I watch ever video as soon as they drop. You, Cleet, VGG and Roman that's it. Also, if you know you can't keep help because of the over working, that's great of you to recognize that issue and change it, so you can get Help and keep them around. We all support you and love StayTuned! We don't want you to actually lose the shop!

The great thing about RUclips Vs. TV is that you have time to go into the actual details of a build. You don't go to a commercial, come back and half the car is done. You guys actually show the problem areas and pitfalls that you run into. That is valuable information to anyone that wants to take on project cars.
So, select any forward gear and let's go!

I've heard similar things before and it seems creators forget that we aren't fans of the vehicles and demand progress. We are fans of you guys. We are here to watch you. Even Derek gets nervous if he does a 3 video build without a rescue as if every video needs to be a rescue, which isn't true. Pretty much everything Might Car Mods puts out is a series so you don't have to reach a certain goal every week. Kevin Tet's channel is new but he's only worked on 2 vehicles this whole time.

Since the channel started I always thought they moved WAY too fast on builds. It makes for great content, but they were gonna get burned out eventually. They were doing full builds in a WEEK sometimes, and that's just not sustainable. I don't think any reasonable sub to this channel would complain about multi-part videos. Tony isn't the kind of person who leaves projects half done, so it's not like we'll be missing out. If anything, it'll give them time to be even MORE detailed and I think the quality of the videos can only INCREASE from them taking their time.

    • @hydrocarbon82
      @hydrocarbon82 3 часа назад +1

I was thinking the same last month, the pace has been insane. YT'ers are used to multi-vid builds, in most cases that's all you get. I'm sure his 10% effort will be more than most people's 110%.

Sounds like a smart plan. I'm far more interested in the builds that take time than the builds you jam out in a week... you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I would also add that while it's nice to have longer videos, don't feel like you're short-changing us if you put out a 30 minute video - some of these YT folks put out hour+ videos and I'm much more likely to skip chunks of it when it's that long.

I'm an aspiring grease monkey and would love a little more of your commentary, instruction, and reasoning while you put these cars/videos together. even if you put out a 30 minute video a week and get a little more in depth on what your putting together, parts selection, techniques, etc. I would love it personally, even if the projects took 3x-10x time to wrap up

Stay Tuned is one of my favorite car content on YT. I always like seeing more videos when you post them. It's the personalities, small shop, PA boys that thrash on projects that I can only dream of building. My trade has been machining (27 years) and formerly have owned a machine shop but after six years I had to close "loose the shop" so I can relate to the burn out feeling. It's real and it happens, take it slow and build your hotrods. I'll always watch the videos, like and support when I can.

I completely agree-this is a great move. The formula of introducing a new project in every episode was starting to make the show feel unreliable for me…. Also, if you think about Seinfeld for example, it was famously a show about nothing, yet it became one of the most-watched shows. Why? Because people loved the characters. I watch Stay Tuned more because I’m a fan of Tony, not because the car was running at the end. The cars and projects are just a bonus. I am a fan of more of a longer running series. I think some of VGG best content are the multi episode on the same car…

Most of us who follow you guys , watched Finnegan do 2 hour long vids of BlaspHemi get all new wiring & a 3rd seat crammed in the back and it was entertaining as all get out.

    OK Tony,
I make a lot of crazy comments on here trying to be funny, but I spent 25 years in broadcast programming and have done a lot of deep marketing and research along the way. I'd like to share some thoughts.
I'm a HUGE fan of yours, and Barb's, too. Way back when Barb filled in as co-host with you on Hot Rod Garage, the friendship and chemistry between the two of you was apparent, and was one of the reasons y'all were so compelling. Reminds me of when my buddies and I used to help each other with our cars back when we were young and thin ... OK, Barb;s thin One thing that's happened as Stay Tuned has progressed is, Barb seems to be getting less and less screen time, and when he's on, it's often not the two of you together. I think that's to the detriment of the brand. Two best friends working on cars is something really relatable to car guys, and I think it's a big part of the secret sauce of Stay Tuned.
What about if, instead of replacing Zack and Stone with another full time person, you split the budget up and hired someone part-time, behind the scenes to do the administrative stuff Barb is saddled with, and someone part-time to do some of the mechanical grunt work? Then you and Barb could spend more time together on-camera?
Hey, how about you hired a mechanic who's also a hot chick in a bikini to do the grunt work? I can see the views going through the roof already!
Seriously, is there a mechanic's school nearby? If there is, bet you could get them to provide interns for the exposure. If not, recruit some promising kid from there to work part-time and incorporate showing him or her how to do stuff as part of the show.
Another big area I think you could improve on is pace. You try and get a ton of work done every week for Friday's upload and work such long days ... why not slow down a bit? Build the LS one week. Build the 327 the next. Then test them the next. Work 8 hours a day. Take a day off every now and then. The anxiety racing against that deadline every week creates has to be incredible. It also causes you to sometimes make compromises. You could plan your schedule around wrapping on Wednesday with Thursdays for pick-ups or for when something goes wrong. Give yourselves a little breathing room.
I don't think any of your audience would mind seeing projects going over multiple weeks, especially if the individual episodes were a little more in-depth, but I do think it's important to finish the projects in a timely manner. I LOVE the 55 and I'm on pins and needles to see you finish it. I'm not as crazy about the V-12 Fox Body, but it's cool and I'd like to see it. I think you should set a rule that you stick with a project until it's finished. I think it's fine if you split it into stages, like maybe you revisit the 55 at some point and put a turbo or a blower on it, but I think each stage should leave the car running and driving and complete in that iteration.
I watched Stacey David for many years. One thing that always bugged me was the way projects would disappear mid-build for months at a time (even years!), then come back for a segment on making custom spark plug wires for it, or new weatherstripping, then it would disappear again. I don't think Sgt Rock is finished yet. It's been 20 years! He started a 79 Camaro project with a 70 nose and tail panel over 10 years ago, then never worked on it. Drove me so crazy I quit watching, and he did some cool stuff when he wasn't doing episodes that were informercials for toolboxes.
Along with shortening your work week, slowing down would also shorten episode length, which I think is an issue. There's a challenge with that with you, though.
I watch you every week. Also Frieberger, Finnegan and 12 Volt Dave. Watching their shows, I can see where 15-20 minutes could easily be cut out of each show with better editing and stopping when they go off on tangents and reshooting that scene. Frieberger is amazingly polished and articulate, but Finnegan and Newbern kind of wander a bit. Their shows would be better with more effort in editing and reshoots.
Your problem is, when you wander and prattle, the offhand comments you make are HILARIOUS. They're part of what makes Stay Tuned so unique and cool. It would be a horrible idea to cut them out for time.
Your average runtime is close to an hour. I think the ideal runtime would be about 25-30 minutes. If I was in charge, I wouldn't try to edit you down, I'd just cut the shows in half.
    Problem solved.
Hey, you wanna put me in charge?
I think it would also be cool to have more episodes where you do stuff with the cars, but cooler stuff than just going to Englishtown and doing 0-60.
What about if you went to a Porshe club meet with PowerKraut, set it up with cameras running and walked away, then show all the Porshe guys talking about what an abomination it is? Like when Finnegan did that with the fake Daytona, but with hate?
What about taking the 55 on Power Tour, and filming all of it, from when you leave the shop till you get back?
The episode where you took the 80s Trans Am on the drag-n-drive was awesome, but it would've been even cooler if it was you and Barb.
Stay Tuned is awesome, Tony, but the way you've burned out Denver, then Zack, then Stone could easily be the tip of the iceberg. You, Barb, or both of you could be next. I think you're making a great decision to address this now, especially when Barb's got a new baby on the way.
My Momma used to always tell me I was so lazy I'd marry a pregnant woman. Clearly, Barb doesn't have that problem.
(also, I really enjoyed the episode when Barb was working with his dad, and the one where you were working with yours. good stuff)

I’m here for the content, love everything you all do and think I’d rather see Castrol bring RFK up your way for pizza and grandpa Lincoln/v12 fox action. From my father/old man that refuses to quit brain. I’d rather see the full build happen and be 100% rippin over the quick running “lose the shop” moments. We all love you guys and pay to be here on early uploads. Every days a holiday when you live the dream!! ❤

Tony, people watch because of the fun personality you and your team have. Personally, I couldn't give two shits about whether something gets to completion in one ep. Take your time, have fun and build cool shit. I get that when you're starting out on your own, it's scary and exciting and you want to do as much as possible. But, I feel like you've established yourself. Time to switch gears for the sustainable long haul buddy.

You and Bard deserve it. Plus Tony I’ve been watching you forever. Bigger better more detailed builds is a great thing. You will be nothing but successful. Bless you guys and keep up the badass work. I absolutely can’t wait to see more progress on the V12 Fox!

By far the best car channel not because of the amount of work you get done(although that is impressive) but because of the attitude towards getting anything and making it cool. What ever you do I am here for a long term straight six vortec build. Take your time. Film more of the detail within the builds. It will be awesome.

Honestly I am super happy for you guys. It shows how much this wears on you to keep this pace up. People are going to watch no matter what. Smaller videos with more in depth work, get it done still, just more episodes to do it with a big pay off at the end in its own video

I like the idea of longer more in depth builds rather than hustling just to bring something new every week. I think bringing back some of the older builds every now and then is cool too. For instance the Pontiac Street Freak was a cool series and I’d love to see that car at another Drag and Drive event. You keep making content and I’ll keep watching!
