- Making a round bread lame of a scrap wood. It's used to score or slash bread right before it hits the oven.
Handle is made as two round surfaces with four notches on each side. Each side can unscrew from another, it opens up and you can fit razor blade in between by putting it on the screw. By screwing the sides together the razor blade is squeezed in between and and remains firm in place, so you can cut the dough nicely.

Nice work. Just what I need…
This turned out great! Love the extra details for the finger divot things. I just left mine flat. 🤪
I would make the blade holder the same size as the blade, and the scew small enough. so the blade can be slide in and out, just by loosing the screw a 1/4 turn. During not using time, blade can be hide inside of the holder, and safely place in the drawer. Not a criticism, just an improvement! Great idea!
thanks for the sub-titled barking - that helped me so much. 🤣
Tried to cheer up the video 🤣
Great job!
Do you think it would have been better not using an end grain piece? it looks great just wondered if it might snap easily compared to using a piece with the grain, if you get what I mean.
Yeah i think it would be stronger by not using an end grain piece. But the thing is, how strong do you need it to be? 🙂
I see what you're saying, but he used a hard wood, with very tight grain.
I’m sorry being so late to the party, but did you somehow drill a hexagonal hole? I have spent the last half hour scouring the internets and I cannot find out how you did that.
Hey, sorry for answering so late... I assume you mean hole for the nut. I drilled just a normal round hole, a bit smaller than the diameter of the nut. When you screw the nut and the bolt together, the nut will dig in to the wood and the traction of the wood will prevent it from turning. Hope it helps :)
What size screw did you use
Hey, i am not sure but i think it was something like 4 mm (0,15 inch) in diameter over the thread.
Watch them fingers bro
This looks like a terrible bread lame. Only half of the blade is exposed and there is no way you can cut at a good angle. Why not make a traditional, stick shaped lame?
If you want to expose the full blade, you can turn the blade in any direction and clamp it between the two pieces without hooking it to the screw in the middle. It should also hold the blade pretty good.
