  • I visited with the Fox Kits this morning and although I didn't see any activity at first the smell of Skunk was in the air so I knew they were probably "home". Two hours of staying near motionless and totally silent later they appeared. The fist two Kits came out and after a few minutes went out of view to the left. The second two Kits came out and after a while went out of view the same way as the first two did. I waited for the to reappear and was pleasantly surprised to see that there is a fifth Kit! Enjoy and stay tuned!

Red foxes are canines, but in some ways, they're actually more like cats:
Foxes are often mistaken to be related to cats because they have many things in common. First, both creatures can climb trees with ease. Second, the two carry a sense of elegance whenever they walk. They have long whiskers, retractable claws, excellent night vision and purr. Like cats, both can swim, but will avoid water unless it's necessary.
Foxes, like cats, use a death blow bite rather than shaking their victim while biting, as dogs do. Foxes hunt like cats.
Foxes hunt quietly (foxes stalk and pounce like cats and sometimes play with their prey). Foxes and cats both chase the same prey.
Evolutionary biologists suggest that the red fox developed certain traits for the same reasons as cats: nocturnal activity and choice of prey. Vertical-slit pupils are believed to provide daytime protection for the eyes of some nocturnal animals, and long whiskers may aid in stalking and killing small prey.
