Back in the 1980's I used to subscribe to Popular Photography Magazine. It was a wonderful time for me growing up. I didn't even have camera back then. But, I loved it. In one of those issues, I do remember having read about this marvelous man. I'm ashamed to say I had forgotten about him, but not about the pictures which trickered my memory just now. Yet, Mr. Joel Ulises has reminded us all of this gentlemen contribution to his art as well as his passion for it, and that of his peers. As well as to some of his images which I truly loved and have moved me. Images which he saw during his life time and continues to share with us all. We lost in 2020. Yet, somehow it is fitting to his vision in which he had 20/20 eyesight for photograph which he shared with us all. God Bless him in heaven. RIP Sir.

Thank you Joel for featuring larry's work. And there is so much more Great b&w imagery to see! It brings a few tears to my eyes seeing him noticed like this, after his passing. I was his student at SVA in 1975 or so and I worked with him at the midtown y gallery. It was an amazing little gallery and you never knew what great photographer might just stop in to show Larry some new work, or to look at a show we just hung. It was a whole different world back then in nyc. This makes me miss it badly. thank you.
Hello Roy! I'm glad you enjoyed Larry Siegel's video; undoubtedly, he had a lot of talent and was a pioneer at that time in promoting emerging photographers. From what I've read, he exhibited the work of great photographers like Garry Winogrand and Saul Leiter in his gallery, in addition to working with Robert Frank as his printing assistant.
