Welp, this whole video was basically just me channeling all my grief about Banana Fish. Man, I don't know if I'll ever be able to get over Banana Fish. I mean, it was tragic enough throughout the entirety of the series, but then... THAT ENDING! It just feels so unfair. I mean, I understand why the author did it (since she believed it was karma because he dug himself too deeply in the hole), but I disagree with the ending. I believe that for the most part, people can change, and someone like Ash Lynx would have definitely been able to change for the better.
I don't know if in the manga he did worse things that made more sense for him to die like that, but as far as the anime goes, I just feel so sad whenever I think about the ending. He was only eighteen, and I find it heartbreaking that the author felt that he truly couldn't be redeemed, even at such a young age. I believe that he deserved a shot at happiness and a chance to start over. I just can't accept that after how incredibly messed up and tragic his life was that he couldn't get another chance.
Anyone out there feel the same? Or am I just screaming out into the void, lol.
But all the sad stuff aside, I absolutely love this series and it's definitely worth watching. Honestly, it's kind of sad how underrated this series is because it is so incredibly good. Don't let the weird title deter you, it is honestly one of the best anime I have seen in a while.
(Also, I ended up deciding to enter this into the YRS 100k contest because they were looking for heartbreaking/emotional storylines, and I figured this video concept fits the bill. Dunno, how well it will do, but fingers crossed!)

Yeah, me too. I didn't see his death coming and so it was really shocking for me. He didn't deserve to die.
