Well my I think my thoughts on Kang have changed a little
but comic and mcu is different, especially with the multiverse concept there tons of weird variants and this one was the most badass one yet it's permanent defeat is hilarious. But in comics, at least the ones I read, this version always comes back and this badass version is the eternal thread not weird variants
but it's common thing that marvel massacres cool villains such as gorr, ultron or taskmaster so dissapointed but not surprised
Honestly I think the stakes would have been a lot more impactful if Scott and Hope got stuck in the Quantum Realm as a result of their sacrifice.

If I remember correctly in the original leaks this whole scripts ending basically played out in reverse, antman and wasp get trapped in the quantum realm and kang is the one to narrowly escape. This was supposed to pose a big threat because now he can travel freely through time throughout the multiverse now. I dont know why they decided to change it last minute , but that’s apparently what they’ve been deciding to do with the last couple of marvel movies.

I feel like it also comes down to the premise of the movie. You introduce Kang as the next major threat for the MCU and you decide to throw him into the lighthearted Ant-Man trilogy, and somehow have him lose to Ant-Man (one of the weakest, and less-serious Avengers). Not doing too much for building him up as a threat.

Keep in mind that these ants, as explained by the movie, experienced time dilation (1000 years) which led them to evolve into type 2 civilization before the final confrontation against Kang. So no, they were no ordinary ants and Kang is just a human if stripped away from his tech.

I remember ant man saying in Endgame when he was in the quantum realm that it only felt like five hours, but the world had passed five years. If they waited a few minutes before jumping back in, in Scott’s quantum time it would have only felt like nanoseconds and he barely would have taken a step. Right?

No they are in the deep quantum realm in this movie like hank explained that he’s been researching it for years and never heard of the civilization in the quantum realm, this is where Janet was and it’s the same reason she aged, the are scot was in in the first one and when he got trapped was a different area that wasn’t as deep into the quantum realm

Kang may have planned for this to happen, it was a little odd he mentioned to antman he talks to ants just before ants come attack him since antman isn’t the one who talks and works with the ants really, kangs plan may have been to appear dead so that the council can come after the avengers and for him to get rid of them and any other threat
He was referring to Hank Pym, he's definitely seen his variants from other universes knows what they can do. Hank Pym is a founding Avengers and one of the few people in the universe who can outsmart him.
Cool idea, except it completely ignores the scene after this. In the end, I think they'll come back to grab this kang in order to beat the other kangs.

What youre referring to is bad writing for the sake of comedic timing. Ant man barely if at all talks to the ants (like hank does I mean) and Kang knows that's not his power. It's the power to grow and shrink. He wouldn't say that but they wanted their daredevil "didn't see that coming!" moment

Kang without his armor is just a human. Why Scott - a man we know is very crafty and smart - never tried using his suit in the final confrontation is beyond me. How could've thrown a Pym disk and turn Kang into jelly. He could've shrunk down or enlarge himself and easily overpower him. Hell, he could've even let Kang go to Earth and let Hope and Cassie gang up on him. They just had to shoehorn a dramatic beat up scene when the stakes were already low for the sake of drama.
Quantumania had many good ideas but also a lot of lazy writing.
It May be lazy writing, but I think we should consider it as a scramble because they did just repurpose a Phase 4 Ant-Man movie to a Phase 5.

"Reed's first "Ant-Man" film from 2015 very clearly noted that its title hero must wear a helmet when he shrinks or grows, as his lungs would not be able to absorb air molecules of a different size."

Really solid movoe. I believe the problem was that kang should have been more developed as a character and more seens revolving him. Also ending shluld have been antman sacrificing himself and dissapearing with this Kang Variant (i think hes somewhere else in time)

People need to remember that Kang was defeated here not by Scott Lang...it was Hank Pym the original Antman...Hank's being doing this for a while so the techinque does make a huge difference.

He didn’t die, and the ants weren’t exactly ant sized plus they were technologically evolved ants.
I laugh at people's comments saying that Kang is weak, but we must remember that the Ants that attacked him were not ordinary Ants, they were advanced and technological Ants with an THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF EVOLUTION, besides that Kang was not defeated by the ants, they only weakened him, and we must also remember that this Kang does not have his advanced technology, he only has the armor, because he is in the Quantum Realm, and to summon his technology he would need the ship, but as the ship is without the core he only has the suit, so his defeat for me was well justified.

kang is not stronger than thanos. All his variants combined make him the threat he is.

Maybe it was his plan to appear dead at the end, we don’t know where his ended up going through that portal if he got out the council would be able to track him and come for him maybe he made it look as if he was killed and come back, afterall he did warn antman and since he’s faced many avengers he knows that the avengers always plan against an enemy,
right before he was rushed by the ants he also mentions to antman he speaks to ants but it’s hank who works with the ants and speaks to the , it is likely kang knew of the ants since they also transmit a signal and knew they had an advanced technology since kang has stolen and took advanced tech from multiple timelines, he must’ve planned to fake his death and come back at another timeline,, or his mindset be switched back to the victor timely timeline where we will see him in Loki season 2.

It's just an army of ultra intelligent giant-sized ants with tech to rival his own commanded by a founding Avenger who's one of the smartest people of the planet, created Ultron and has defeated Kang in the past. Nothing serious.
A civilization of communist ants at 2 on the Kardashev scale vs. Kang... (a comment below) Watch again Hank Pym said. His ants evolved and had civilization for thousand of years. According to Kardashev Scale, 21st humans are at 0.5 scale while ants in quantum realm reached to Type 2 civilization. So type II ant civilization can match Kang technology from 31st century. They are not pure ants anymore and some are robots with high technology.

True. This film did have its merits. However, it was kinda rough to follow because it didn't feel like an Antman film. It was basically a Kang and Janet movie and Antman was used at the surrogate but the problem is it is still focused on Scott and Cassie.
However when you look at Avengers Infinity War... that wasn't The Avengers movie, it was Thanos' movie. We found out his true motivations, we got to know him and followed his journey alongside him all the way to the end. From a certain POV, Thanos was the Protagonist, with Thor and The Avengers being the Antagonists of Infinity War.
... Then Endgame was The Avengers movie with young Thanos as the Antagonist. Unfortunately. Endgame could've been so much better with a different story.
This Kang variant is weak because he has been stripped of his powers and resources making him this weak

Nah. The major thing that makes them dangerous is their manipulation of time. We have seen just how powerful that made one variant in Loki. We did not get to see it in antman for obvious plot reasons. The Powers that come with the suit, the tech and all look next level too, but the time factor is the major threat. There is literally no one capable of fighting them except their variants hence the use of the council of kangs. It has been implied several times in Loki and antman but poorly executed in antman. The War is between the kang Variants no one else. Others are just pawns. Thats how powerful they are. My safest bet is there is going to be a Kang variant who takes down the other variants just like who he remains did and be the big bad.
It's his mind and tech. not physical ability. This movie didn't show that very well but maybe this is a younger version that hasn't met himself yet
Kang's character is similar to CLU's character in the movie Tron.
The first similarity: both betrayed their friends (Kang betrayed Janet and CLU betrayed Kevin Flynn)
Two similarities: they need a golden ticket to go (CLU to Kevin Flynn's disc and Kang to Pym particles)
Similarity three: both killed the natives of their land who were against them (Kang killed the people of Quantum Land and CLU killed the people of Grid)
Similarity Four: Kevin Flynn and Janet were both trapped in a long universe for a long time (Janet for thirty years and Kevin for twenty years)
. Similarity 5: CLU and Kang both have an incredibly large army of obedient and mindless people (faceless soldiers) and want to use it to conquer the outside world.Even their speeches are similar. Similarity
6: CLU has a right hand which is actually Tron and has lost his memory and Kang also has Darren Cross. Both of them betrayed their master and died as heroes. Similarity Seven: In Tron, there is a person named zuse, who used to be in the rebel team, and in front of us we have Crylar, who used to be Janet's friend and now joined Kang.
Similarity 8: In Tron, we have a devoted father named Kevin Flynn, who had to fight with CLU in the end for his son to escape from the Grid world, and both of them failed. On the opposite side, we have Scott Lang, who knows that he is not as powerful as Kang, so he is ready for both of them to fail and fail to leave the atomic world.
This movie, made in 2023, is a non-professional copy of the 2010 Tron Legacy movie.

Kang's suit was damaged. So they could let him escape to Earth and arrest him there.
If they did that the Council of Kangs or one of the Kang variants would've killed them all, while they were tired and Quantum Kang severely disarmed. So the best outcome would've been for Kang to escape with a fully functional suit or to get stuck in the probability storm with a broken suit, hence creating thousands of like minded Kangs and thousands others with functional suits to fight the Council.

@@kentan8536 It would have been funny to have hope and scott both stuck in quantumn since scott has been stuck in Quantumn realm before. Imagine he looks at hope and does the meme lol " Your first time huh?" lol that could have been gold.
Honestly I think it would have made more sense to have Scott, Hope, and Kang sucked into the damaged core. But having it just be Kang didn't at all feel right.
I watched ant man and then watched guardians 3 and it seemed like Kang and the Creator had very similar tech, not a massive fan so could someone confirm whether Kang is a creator or whether he stole or killed a creator to get the tech or if they are not related at all ?
It should just be a random coincidence or Disney was recycling some cgi/costumes, trying save some $ & cutting corners. Kang & the High Evolutionary should be unrelated--at least in the comics--although there have been multiple changes to the MCU versions. In the comics: Kang is a time traveling super conqueror from like the 31st century (It's been a while so don't quote me but Kang is from very far in the future); he's a human white guy who claims descent from Dr Doom, hence the resemblance & cape, & wears incredibly advanced armor that is operated by thought. Included in the armor are his 2 top abilities--time travel (can never get rid of him for good, another Kang always waltzes in from another point in the time stream) & being able to near instantly summon ANY weapon from ANY point in time. So he can go old school with the Lance of Longinus/Spear of Destiny or rock out with a future "multidimensional, variable phase reality ripping railgun etc." The armor also provides amazing defense too.
The High Evolutionary was also a white guy but he's from like the early 1900s & he's always been obsessed with genetics & its manipulation. Mainly he gets off on making animals into anthropomorphic humanoids as well as tinkering with some mutants like Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver. He's more of a mad scientist than a proper evil villain & has helped many heroes in certain situations while opposing them in many others. At some point, he experimented on himself, gave himself some powers & messed up his face etc. He also wears an advanced armor to cover his face & it includes multiple powerful abilities like super strength, size changing & regeneration.
MCU: It doesn't appear that Kang & the High Evolutionary have shared origins or gear. Their MCU portrayals are somewhat close to their comic versions & origins/motivations except for them being black now. There's still unsolved mysteries about Kang, but so far there does not appear to be any direct connection between the 2. Who knows, Disney will probably bring them together at some juncture. Sorry so long & hope it's not too confusing!

Ants at that size would be pretty fast and strong they are really powerful
