- The US is drafting sanctions that threaten to cut some Chinese banks off from the global financial system, according to a report. US officials hope that this will stop Beijing's commercial support of Russia's military production, as per the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Secretary of State Antony Blinken slammed Chinese support for Russia's defence industry, days before his planned visit to Beijing this week. US officials say targeting Chinese banks with sanctions is an escalatory option in case the diplomatic overtures fail, as per the WSJ. When a country can imposed sanctions and confiscated other countries' assets placed in their country for investment and whether movable or immovable assets it is a risky affair viewing the current scenario what has been going on as this amounts to criminal actions. Ukraine is another issue nothing to do with taking assets disposing off and giving these profits to Ukraine Israel Tsiwan etc. Just wonder what has to do with US ?

@@zezenkop412But that would mean that US treasuries will hold no value then. Resulting in an overnight crash of the US dollar as if China is denied withdrawing their own money, other countries will withdraw their money in panic as China is the largest holder of US securities.
This will also be considered as economic terrorism and the US would have no legal way to defend itself in WHO and other global institutions.
Moreover, China controls the supply of Chips, rare earth minerals and many other products to west. If China imposes retaliatory sanctions then western consumption-based economies could collapse as well since they do not have the capacity to produce for what they consume.
The US could not treat China the same way it treated the Russia. Dollar will have no real value if it's politicised.

We have already witnessed the closing of many chinese banks in Russia recently, and the turning away of russian oil tankers from many ports in India. For those who have studied a bit of history, remember the heavy sanctions that the USA and the United Kingdom inflicted on petroleum products on Japan, which therefore in December 1941 decided to surprise attack the USA in Pearl Harbor, sinking in one fell swoop almost the entire Pacific Fleet. At that time, no one believed that such a devastating and sudden Japanese military attack could happen. And in 1941 Japan didn't have thousands and thousands of nuclear warheads. Imagine if it had them.
