Powerful little buggers, aren't they? I didn't know standard-gauge engines got this small, but what little I know about these two is that they were made this way because of tight clearances on their railway, so they couldn't be any longer or taller than the wagons they pulled, 5-plankers, I think.
@123greatbritain i agree mate, they had a good work out at Tanfield, Down South there 2nd rate engines, to the GWR stuff. love to see them back there tho, great engines.

7' 6" loading gauge... In the 60s I used to weigh rakes of coal trucks hauled by these locos at Par Harbour - on the move over the weighbridge!
