Personally, you offer a fluff-free and genuine opinion on cool ass albums dude. You’re open-minded and not only dissect the music, but the lyrics as well. There’s tons of people doing music reactions/reviews on RUclips but this channel has been a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work homie! Some other albums for your consideration: Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam Animal Collective - Centipede Hz. Animal Collective - Time Skiffs Fiddlehead - Death is Nothing to Us 🍻
I don't know if it's your style really, but Iliinois by sufjan stevens is an album that I first heard a year ago and it consistently gives me goosebumps every single time. Amazing harmonies, amazing lyrics, amazing production. For me it's a 10/10
These comprehensive list videos are a really good idea, and i'm happy to see it looks like they will be a trend for your channel. Music is a medium where you often don't form your final opinion on a song/album until you've spent some time with it so its cool to see where these albums sit with you after some time. This is quickly becoming my favorite music review channel.
So happy to see The Cure so high up! Hope you do more of their discography, I quite like their album Pornography Also happy to see you enjoyed Elliott Smith, hope you listen to more of him too :) one of my fave lyricists
Feedbacker by Boris would be cool to see since nobody has reacted to it on RUclips. Its very similar to some of swans music and its only 43 minutes long. Will continue to watch your content eitherway❤
this is a really good list tbh. i think you should consider albums like elliott smiths XO or self titled, dave bixby’s ode to quetzalcoatl, or hi how are you by daniel johnston would be an interesting reaction. thank you for these reactions btw they make my day
Really appreciate you reacting to some of these albums that don’t get much RUclips coverage, and enjoy the chill vibe you bring. A special request for me is an album called Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain, its a collaborative album made by 2 of the best Japanese post-rock bands, MONO and World’s End Girlfriend, and its my favorite album of all time. Its not a very popular one at all, has almost no representation online, so itd be awesome to see you react to it.
Love the show! Album recommends: -Wild Beasts "Smother" -Mazzy Star "Among My Swan" -Sebadoh "Bakesale" -Calexico "Feast of Wire" -David Crosby " If I Could Only Remember Her Name" -Tennis "Swimmer"
Smags you're a treasure to people who watch youtube who have found you. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about music people want you to listen. I have a request: Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue
Grace is my favorite album. You need the expanded version of Live at Sin-e. The original ep was 4 songs. The expanded version is 2 CDs/1 DVD with 21 songs plus actually interesting banter. More covers than originals, but just him on electric guitar (and one a capella song) is enough. His version of Strange Fruit starts with a David Gilmore style solo. The Live in Chicsgo DVD is the best complete live performance, plus the original Grace making of oress kit. Sketches has a few great songs on it. .
you gotta listen to the dance of the moon and sun by natural snow buildings, if you didnt already like drone before this album might make you love it, absolutely gorgeous and perfect for autumn
u should listen to the thom yorke - the eraser or little simz - sometimes i might be introvert !! theyre both incredible :) also u should listen to some radiohead if u havent already :D and the ooz if u wanna listen to more king krule
Always happy to see someone truly enjoying music. U should try to give a listen to Athom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd, Ceres and Calipso in the Deep Time by Candy Claws and just to suggest some different stuff (classical music) The Planets by Gustav Holst.
Surprised how high you ranked some of these electronic albums, it definitely seems like some of your first impressions have evolved. Would you say you've been warming to electronic and instrumental music in general?
I’d recommend Hot Rats by Frank Zappa, Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan and Let Love In by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds some really great records I think you’d enjoy
Even though I’ve only known about you for a short time I’m very proud and impressed about what you’ve done and your concistency. Not gonna name my song reccolendations but I’m sure you already know 😉
Dude - your summary here for all 40 of these albums is probably better than most single reviews of each album. Love your channel, love that you're so passionate...and yeah, Grace is a good shout for number 1 I think. If you really want to geek out, watch Andy Wallace who produced Grace on 'Mix With The Masters' just silently listening back to his final mix of Hallelujah...very moving.
I found your channel some weeks ago and been enjoying your reactions a lot! You are genuine and open minded to music and you are definitely one of the best music reaction/review channels on this platform. Personal favourites of mine are your Aphex Twin reactions, I am a big fan of his work and its always fun to see someones first reactions to his stuff. Would recommend listening and reacting to Deftones - White Pony album!
Yo dude i’m 16 and watching ur channel is lowkey a highlight of my day. Me and my brother are about to release our second album and I hope channels like urs listen to 1 day
i may be stupid and have missed you already talking about it at some point but if you havent im going to be annoying and recommend I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You by Quadeca. no idea if you would like it but would love to hear your thoughts either way
This is sick, I’d recommend some of these albums, Melodrama - Lorde Come In - Weatherday Mercurial World - Magdalena Bay e - Ecco2k Deathmetal - Panchiko
Lilac wine is one of my all time favourites too. I think I listed to music very differently to you and most people I guess. My first hearing of music is the whole sound, instrumentation and vocals, if I like the sound of a song it is only then that I discover the lyrics.
honestly very good ranking.. i think i agree with all of this!! i would love to see more swans related stuff, my 2 favorite albums being white light from the mouth of infinity and the great annihilator .. they have a different vibe from eachother but i think you’d like both of them
I love these videos, glad you aren't picking the standard react bait even though I'd love to see some Opeth here. Have some suggestions for future listens if you're taking them (no particular order). 1. Voivod - Dimension Hatröss 2. The National Lights - The Dead Will Walk, Dear (make sure you have the lyrics here) 3. Madvillian - Madvillainy (You might have heard this so could check out MF Doom Operation: Doomsday) 4. Burzum - Filosofem (Maybe skip this one but could be interesting) 5. Mastodon - Leviathan (or) Crack the Skye. Oh! Editing to add 6. Mr. Bungle, self titled or anything that looks good to you!
I love how much you can appreciate so many vast genres of music with thoughtful analysis whilst still being funny! It's almost too good to be true lol (idw jinx it lmao)
What a great list! Very insightful and genuine. Although a bit sad for Illinois’ ranking (coming from a Sufjan fan), but it’s fine cause it’s honest. Hopefully, you consider reacting to his album A Beginner’s Mind with Angelo De Augustine. Basically, each song from that album was loosely inspired from movies. What Sufjan and Angelo did was watch a movie at night, then write a song about it in the morning. It’s really clever. Also, Sling by Clairo or Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves.
Appreciate these compilations and the effort they entail. I hae some recs: The Stone Roses - self title first album Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street Brian Eno - Another Green World Brian Enp - Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets Beastie Boys - Check Your Head Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde or Highway 61 or Blood on the Tracks
A few more; Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup Radiohead - In Rainbows or Kid A DJ Shadow - Endtroducing Joanna Newsom - Have One on Me Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca Fairport Convention - Liege and Lief or Unhalfbricking
Jeff Buckley had another album released posthumously called "Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk". It's a double disc. The first disc is amazing. The second is...less so. Either way, check it out.
TO RECCOMMEND ALBUMS THAT HAVE A DIFFERENT FLAVOR TO YOUR PREVIOUS REACTIONS JULIA HOLTER - YOU IN MY WILDERNESS KELELA - RAVEN JENNY HVAL - BLOOD BITCH AALIYAH - AALIYAH Prefab Sprout - Jordan: The Comeback My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One Ocean Machine - Biomech Gustavo Cerati - Bocanada Blood Orange - Negro Swan Klein - Star in the Hood Godflesh - Streetcleaner Ride - Going Blank Again Catherine Wheel - Chrome Cindy - Angel Touch Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted Verve - A Storm in Heaven Frou Frou - Details Broadcast - Haha Sound Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time Oxbow - Thin Black Duke
As always great video and ranking, was really interesting to hear your takes about these albums and can't wait for more reactions in the future. One band that would be really cool to see album reactions to would be the Beatles, especially Abbey Road and the White Album. Keep up the great work!
Man your channel was such a fresh find, keep up the consistency 😎 also dude please do more king krule! Man alive is my favourite album (fittingly an album about connection connected with me the most!)
Id say its a pretty accurate ranking, love it, keep it up dude, i love your videos! my recommendations are: Dean Blunt - BLACK METAL The Smiles - Bending Hectic (its a single btw)
It's unfortunate that you didn't enjoy Illinois all that much as it's one of my favorites of all time but I understand the criticisms you gave. I think you might like Carrie and Lowell by Sufjan more, as it leans away from the theatrics of Illinois to be a very personal and intimate experience. It's quite a sad album though.
You're doing a great job. Here are a couple of 70s funk albums for the master list - 'There's A Riot Goin' On' by Sly & The Family Stone and 'Mothership Connection' by Parliament.
Hey mate, keep up the good work! really nice to see someone as open and willing to give anything a listen as you. I try to do the same. It feels good to be completely surprised by new music! A few shouts from me based on what you’ve listened to so far: The queen is dead - the smiths tunes 2011-2019 - burial Ágætis byrjun - Sigur Ros I love you Jennifer B - Jockstrap American football - American football I could go on but I’ll spare you. Dude if u reacted to Marqee Moon by television u would LOVE it greatly. One of the most influential and fun albums with some dark lyrics to boot it’s a experience. Guitar work at its best and catchiest! Ur the best Smags! I watch ur videos while I eat dinner!!😭 it’s the best and such a vibe all the time.
Love your content dude keep doing this please. Also, these are some albums you should check: Weatherglow by Weatherday and asian glow Come in by Weatherday Joy as an act of resistance by IDLES
Another 40 down! Great thoughts on these albums. If you haven't heard it already(and this is just for you to listen to on your own time) but as good as Jeff Buckley's Lilac Wine is, i think Nina Simone's version is superior. Please check that out because it's heavenly.
You should listen to more swans like the glowing man or the seer both of those are amazing albums, I prefer the glowing man a bit more but the seer is still great
