Being trained and being strong has nothing to with abuse. You can train someone without it. I agree it’s the port mafia, its expected for them to have harsher methods. But that dosnt mean an apology shouldn’t be owed. We can agree dazai feels no remorse for him in the actual anime. but Akutagawa could have been just as stronger if that, stronger than he is now even if the abuse hadn’t of happened. This has also been shown in the manga and light novels.
Well in that merit, Mori did nothing wrong either. In my opinion, he was cruel in a way that was unnecessary to Akutagawa’s training and may have made him weaker in the long run do to overworking and over fatiguing himself to the point of coughing up blood just to prove his worth. In fact, what Mori did may have been even more justified than what dazai did, as he was preparing dazai for the sight and experience of death, and that he would lose his loved ones during the path he was on.
