So, my family owned a scrap metal and iron business from 1932 until around 2001 or so. My grandpa started it with fifty bucks he earned. That’s another story lol. But my father bought the business from my grandpa and this was one of their accounts. My dad says it’s where the petroleum was off loaded from barges into the tanks to be refined across the street where the refinery used to be. The pools are where the storage tanks were that got scrapped. Apparently we passed on the job so don’t be calling the EPA on me hahahaha. I just thought this was something interesting to add to the vid and give some context. 🫡
Thank you! That’s just from the O3 air unit. I don’t fly with an action cam. I know I’m gonna lose a quad there 😂😂😂. I was mostly flying it to look for power lines, access routes, etc before I take my 5” there. This is from my 2.5” Frankenquad
I can’t even imagine what kind of toxic shit is in those pools lmao. Another few weeks and I’ll be good to go with climbing around looking for crashed quads but I’m not there yet. Looks like some fun stuff to fly back there tho. There’s a couple towers too that could be dived right down the middle at about the 04:01 mark.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate the support especially while I’m still bouncing back from my surgery a few weeks ago. You guys are all like fam. It means a lot! ❤
Yeah probably. Most of the places I fly along the river are or were. Love Canal is about ten miles north of this location. That other spot I fly next to the river is about 4 miles downstream and was for sure a superfund site. This whole area used to be pretty heavily polluted but they’ve done an amazing job cleaning it up. It’s too bad they had to wreck the economy and close down all the factories to do it, sending all the jobs to China 😡
Check out the comment I just pinned. This was one of my dad’s accounts from the scrap metal and iron salvage company we owned from 1932-2001ish. He passed on this job lol
