- Me just showing a demonstration on how to change the spark plugs in a 2013 Honda Civic EX
I am nowhere near a professional nor am I trying to be seen as one
Just a fun tutorial I put together to help my fellow Honda family out there or anybody who wanted to know :D
Thanks so much for showing us how to do this, I got almost 101,000 miles on my car and my iMID display is showing it's almost time to change my spark plugs on my 2013 Honda Civic EX. The damn dealer wants to charge like $330 - $400 for this easy service.
Same to asking 500 here in canada😮💀💀. Fuck that
Spark plugs come up as a maintenance reminder? Mine only shows oil i think and tire rotation
@@AFatOcelot yes on certain models such as Honda it does come up.
Thanks great video, just did my 2013 civic with my dad, everything went perfect
Looks simple enough! Thanks for the vid!

Haha! Made you jump!
Bruh!
No Anti -Seize on the new plugs ?
my man thank u for this video 🙏🏻
"Sensor"? That is a "Coil On Plug" Ignition Coil ... "Housing"? That's the Cylinder Head ... a proper Spark Plug Socket has a rubber insert to hold onto the old spark plug so you don't need some rusty old needle nose pliers to fish the spark plug out of the cylinder head.
Bro thank you so much! I look forward to changing my spark plugs
Gonna be doing this to my Honda civic 2013. Thanks a bunch man!
The dealer wants to charge me $400 canadian dollars just to do this🤣
@@Nitsua2107 how did it go???
Thank you so much for this!
why you did not buy NGK SPARK
Alexis Chavez cause he’s cheap and didn’t want to spend $25 a spark plug🤣🤣
Do you need to change the timing belt along with the spark plugs or does it nor matter?
I believe that 2013 honda civics have timing chains, not belts. So they do not need to be replaced.
@@fifty5712 they have timing chains now.
You really should do one at a time so you don't have all four open to debris the whole time....
Spark plug socket is the correct tool never a normal socket. Also should be NGK plugs not champion :(((((((
What about BOSH spark plug?
What’s the spark plug size where can I buy it?
Champion? (NGK or Denso). Torque? (13 ft-lb) Check the Gap? (0.44”) Anti-Seize? Sheesh
You don’t need anti-seize it’s not recommended by manufacturer
What about the spacing of the gap? Antiseize compound?
I am a total noob lol. have a question unrelated to spark plugs, but tahnks for the video(changing mine today)....what is the thing that looks like a single large spark plug, in front of the spark plugs. goes into the silver color plate. has a wire coming out of it?
thanks
That's probably the front oxygen sensor. All modern vehicles have them; sometimes they're underneath in the exhaust pipe. This setup is better, as it's much easier to replace.
How miles are on those spark plugs?
Thanks for the video man
Not to nitpick, but the official size for the plugs is 5/8in, which is a hair smaller than 16mm. Might have been able to pull out without the pliers.
thanks for sharing, I've seen another video saying 5/8, and now this guy 16mm and I was confused, now I know.
Yes it's 5/8 and use a spark plug socket it has a rubber boot inside to help remove the old plug and protect the new one from chipping.
Next time use a short extension the extension you you're losing so much torque with a long extension and also I have a magnet to a makes your job a lot easier and definitely I will not use I will only use NGK plugs
Ngk come pre calibration?
Set the gap to .44 as that is spec
Set that gap first
Champion spark plugs are NOT an upgrade
We call that “plastic piece” the coil pack
🔧
I have a civic LX 2013. What are the best plugs
NGK laser iridium IX plugs (OE specs). Last forever.
@@jhendra83 thanks. I changed them out last summer at about 125,000 miles and the ones in there still looked very clean
@@dbluehorsedeboe5567 I replaced mine last week 176k later 😁.
@@jhendra83 I didn't know so I just put them in to be safe
My belt still looks good. How many miles is a good time to change it?
They guy doesn't even know common tool nomenclature, so.....
well he fixed the issue for probably less than $60 instead of letting a dealership upcharge him $400 for a 9 minute fix. I see mechanics are hating on youtube again for showing people how easy their job is.
0.044” sorry
