The reason the dish doesn’t “track” the satellites is because it’s using a phased array antenna this means by changing the phase of the antennas in the array it can “steer” the radio signals and therefore doesn’t need to physically move the dish. Hope this helps clear that up.
Thank you for once again for this video, plus the update. Very useful, I think I'm sold for when my current contract expires. Did a really good job at addressing the unknowns. 👍
We’re moving to a semi rural location in the next month and will have the same landline speeds as you and the same use case. Will order this as soon as contracts are signed thanks for the insight 👍🏻
Hi, many thanks for the videos re Starlink. We live in rural Somerset and the signal here is ***'*. We both teach online - frustrating at times. Looks like Starlink may well be the way to go. Looking forward to future videos. Cheers.
It’ll definitely be better up above the roof on a decent T&K bracket and pole 👍. Won’t need to have a long pole above the ridge, just enough to clear it. Or even a bit lower down the roof line if you prefer 👍😉
@@Doobrey good 👍. Bet it’s perfect now 😉. I’ve been a satellite and aerial installer for many years. Seen all sorts of home done installs that’ll make you go “ what, why & how” 🤣🙈🤦♂️🙄. Look forward to your update video 😉
Q: Are Starlink going to allow one connection to be shared between a community? Say a small apartment block, or some sort of remote Native American settlement, with all the residents splitting the cost? Or are they going to enforce one subscription per household?
@@Doobrey Yeah but it all depends on whether Starlink end up allowing you to do this, and ideally managing the cost splitting themselves. I think they could end up with a lot of customers if they did allow this. But if they don't, I think Starlink is going to be too costly and too impractical for much of the world (including the UK). You get a lot of bandwidth (for a lot of money) but most it's of going to waste in a single household
@@rxrepips4199 I would guess making some profit would be better than making none and going bust. But I guess you didn't bother to read my second comment
Hey Chad. As you know, we have a place in Greece. Currently we have satellite internet but is not quick and has a pathetic data download limit of 40Gb per month attached. Do you have a view of whether I could order a Starlink here - and take it with me to Greece and use it there?
On the issue of cost.... Compared to your former ISP, how much greater in cost was your Starlink equipment to your former ISPs equipment? Also, how much greater in cost is your monthly service fee compared to your former ISP? Finally how much greater speed do you get on average, over your former ISP? ....and can you express these comparisons in percentages? Many people don't mind paying twice as much for something if they're getting 3-5 times better performance than before.
I have just got a Starlink. I will need to mount it on the roof because the house has a number of tree around it. Do I need to buy the Starlink Pipe Adapter, can it be fitted using standard satellite mast fixtures?
Great informative vid thanks👍 sorry if you’ve been asked this before but can you run VPN over it (or is it,given it’s in space NOT geo restricted eg you can log on to sites you’d usually have to spoof your location to access)
Thank you for the videos on this. Seriously considering buying Starlink. Based in Norfolk and Openreach are delaying our fibre upgrade by an entire year. Could you do some gaming latency tests at all? I realise that's a hassle but that counterstrike ping was a little scary!
I play gaming on it all the time! Latency is about 30-40ms which for a non-pro gamer is fine. War zone, no issues, me and the boy both play at the same time with no issues
I would like Starlink to email me. I have paid my deposit weeks ago & receiving numerous offers to order, which the system is not allowing. It thinks I am in US, won't accept my phone number & is not recognising my paid deposit, help anybody.
ARGH! I am literally a mile inside a area where I can't get it! - I have seen some people say they can get it but they used another service address. Is this still the case? The local takeaway has said I can use their address to order it-and they are 0.9 miles away!

Not sure - I know you can obviously share a wifi connection, so the possibility is there...

What do you think they'll do? Which one generates more revenue?

Hi Gordon, it is geo-locked with approx 5-10 mile of the install address. You could order one for Greece? To your Greece address…
Getting real busy up there with all that metal floating about.
Have you done a video of your chimney installation and parts required? Would be very interested in this aspect
Hey, it’s on the roof !!! No video as I wasn’t sure people would wanna see that. I can send you a piccy if you like though?
@@Doobrey please show us the roof installation.

Thanks for the video. I was just wondering how you have connected the two routers, to avoid double NATing?
Straight from my router to starlinks, with a forward static route from mine to it.
Is it a set 12/18/24 month contract or rolling monthly contract? Thanks

Nope, I created an extension pipe then used a standard aerial holder. Works perfectly

How long does it take to arrive, I live in Northern Ireland and ordered Starlink just yesterday. Do you think that it will come anytime soon
How do you get the rings up? I can't find the option..
Options then rings

Currently getting between 100 and 300 meg !

, Hi Pete,
Forgive my ignorance, are you based in Coventry?
