Love the banter between you and Skye 😊 nice to get your opinions of the difference between the two countries. Nice to see Skye ❤ thank you Nicki and Skye 🤗❤ much love!
This is why Apiritivo is so wonderful. You can show and tell anything about everything. Today's chat with Skye was really interesting. Thanks again and again. Suzi
It was so nice to hear the mom and daughter chat. Sky is always a bit of a mystery so its wonderful to find out she is a well spoken sweet person. Wishing you a happy and peaceful week ahead.
I find that Skye is her own person - composed and independent. She was educated in England which accounts for her proficient bilingualism. She is definitely the best of both worlds. A lovely, polite and hard-working person. More Skye please! 🙏
Honestly, there are both wonderful and not wonderful things everywhere one goes . That's the beauty of travel.... not only are there great things to see, do and eat, but also the people. Even though we are all different, in many ways we are the same and it just takes a little getting to know each other. 😍😍
Thank you Nicki & Skye for the chat. Regarding hard water in Italy, I will never forget my first trip to Italy in 1970 and bringing my shampoo that I was using in NYC, where we have soft water. I washed my hair and the shampoo would not rinse out. From that experience, I learned that no matter where you travel use the local shampoo, for example in a hotel, which is formulated for that local water. Safe travels!
What a lovely mother daughter chat! Nikki, you must be a very proud mama as I'm sure yours is... You bring us great content in the glimpses of your life. Much love to all from Carmel by the Sea xoxo
That was so nice to see you and Skye together there in England and having a chat and sharing it with us. Thank you and may you both have safe travels back to Italy. I think your dad will feel lonely the house will feel big now that the two of you have left. Your dad is a lovely person. Have a lovely day.
My biggest observation about England vs mainland Europe (we moved from Uk to Spain) is Brits are POLITE, Italians and Spaniards are KIND. Brits are not kind warm hearted people but they have good manners which tricks people in to thinking they’re kind, when they really aren’t. Italians and Spaniards are not overly polite or nice manners wise, but they are so very very kind. If you need something they’ll help you with their full hearts. If someone loses their home or crashes their car or needs a child taken care of they’ll rally around and do everything to help as a community. So very very kind and authentic.
I see your point, but I don't think it is good to generalise. I know some lovely Italian people, but I have also heard of absolutely terrible treatment in Italy. One is in which the utterly cruel and barbaric ways in which women have been treated in Italian hospitals whilst giving birth and after birth. I have friends who just can not talk about the treatment without breaking down and crying. I also remember a video in which Nikki came out of an office distraught and crying bc of her treatment in there. Not all Italians are kind. Some, in fact, can be very cruel. They are kind and not so kind people in every country.
Everyone's experience is different. My Italian father and his family treated my mother like absolute s**t but an ex English boyfriend of mine was the kindest person I've ever met lol
That was nice visiting with Sky. She has always seemed so shy and said very little in other videos. She is a young lady now and her hair has grown soooo long from when she cut it several years ago.
A thing that shook me last year when I stayed in my house in Kingston, is how quickly night falls and so early compare to Normandy. The comparisons you made are very similar to mine. When I moved to Kingston in 73 it was so different, it was like a village where everyone knew people, but no longer. It is like a foreign town to me now....Drivers politeness and being courteous is unknown in France, as for customer service, the less said the better....Still, very blessed with the river walks and all the parks. Lovely to see Skye and get a glimpse of your Dad. Great little video, thank you.
How lovely when Skye called Nicki Mummy..I am very nearly 59 and still refer to my parents as Mummy & Daddy..Daddy passed away in 1998..Mummy is in a home in South Wales..she is 91..
Lovely chat today ladies, thank you for sharing with us. I love hearing about the differences between countries. Looking forward to seeing the both of you in Tuscany.
Skye is A mini- me Carlo face in Nicki body skin and hair .... beautiful blend .... and I love the Tea for today ..... 😊😋🙏🏻❤🇧🇷 PS: Have a safe trip gals ...🕊
I have the same water issues, so I add vinegar as the softener. And use woolen balls with jasmine oil (just a drop) Love the mother daughter review ! Glad you had time with Dad/Harry
The key to soft towels is to AVOID fabric softener, hot wash (removes detergent residue), dilute detergent, baking soda with wash, and as you said Tumble Dry.
I wouldn't agree.. the key is softener and drying in a shade . I never tumble dry my towels, and they are beautifully soft. As she said, water is the most important thing. If it's too hard, you can't do much as it stays in a towel and makes it hard no matter what you do I am glad if your way works for you 🙂
See Skye? Everybody misses you, it's nice to see you on video with your Mom. This was something a little different and pretty informative on the differences that are noticed immediately between England and Italy, especially about the antiquing prices and quality of the stock available.
One thing I notice about your videos in Italy is that the neibours all help each other sadly the UK is not like that anymore neibours don’t even know each other . I lived in Germany many years ago and the neibours all helped each other . As for hard towels I live in Bedfordshire and the water is very hard , our towels are also stiff as boards 😆. As for the heating many people in the UK can’t even afford to put their heating on it’s so expensive . You both find our supermarkets good but I find Italy still has naturally grown local food which is what a lot of the UK is now going back to because we are sick of being ripped off by supermarkets . I often wonder why sky was sent to a British school when she was brought up in Italy im sure their schools are very good our education system is sadly lacking now . I enjoyed your comparisons when I lived abroad and used to visit England it’s like we see things through 5he eyes of a tourist I think it’s called reversed culture .
Italy has got incredibly vast array of all kinds of culinary delicacies, cakes , sweet food , savoury, home grown vegetables , olive oil and pastas, pizzas , salamis , persuto, parmigiano and christmas panetones , pandoros and so on and on and on , traditional and apsolutely delicious food and ingredients . So what i like about Italy is delicious traditional Italian food and they do not have a need for foreign food only small amount . It's important to keep identity of one's country . But if we would be left in England only with "English cuisine " and ingredients God help us . That's why you find so much more food from abroad in the last 30 - 40 years in England. Before than it was tasteless meager food . Do not forget there was not much sunshine then and food was not grown in England but exotic food like tomatoes and other vegetables imported by plane from Spain and Italy . And as far as non alcoholic cocktails , I had my first one in Italian restaurant Carluccio in London and then another Italian restaurant Manicomio , non alcoholic Mojito , and that has been recent trend because people are becoming more mindful about drinking and wellness.
Skye is so well spoken, she can organize her thoughts and explain things easily. Just like her Mom!. I really enjoyed this episode. I'm Italy all the way. Nicki should learn about moctails that we're doing in the US. If I go out and don't want an alcohol drink I can pay 8 bucks for a lovely drink which is mostly made from the fresh ingredients that Nicki has growing in her garden.
Put some white vinegar in the rinse cycle and see if that helps soften the towels. We don’t use fabric softener but do tumble dry towels and they are soft. Maybe the vinegar would help!
yess I started doing this as well, putting vimegar into the machine AND as a fabric softener as the softeners contain so many chemicals I recently read! They still smell nice as well with vinegar!
Add White vinegar to the wash & the towels will be softer. Plus vinegar is antibacterial so it kills any germs on them. Of course you need to wash them with laundry soap too
Now that was a fascinating discussion. Regarding towels, I read recently that we shouldn't use products to soften the towels in the first place - despite the pictures on the front of soft fluffy towels etc.
I loved this lil chatty video. A lot of the ways from England we do in Canada, we say sorry all the time also, we say thank you a lot but less in big cities. I grew up in a smaller city so we tend to say thank you a lot more. Towels are soft also in Canada, just depends which kind you buy and its true if you live in the country the water is harsher. Costumer service has to be top also in Canada also, its plain rude to be ignored. If you decide to visit Canada one day you will see.😊 Someone bumps into me at the store or on the street I say sorry and they say sorry.😂
Great discussion. :) I love Italy (and Europe for that matter)... but the UK, and England, has always had my heart. 😊❤ (Words from a 'merican, married to a Cornishman.)
Love the discussion. Over the years, UK started putting in 'face towels' in hotels 40 years ago in Austria, Germany, France - NEVER! Kentucky versus Texas versus Quebec versus Key West Versus Phoenix versus Inverrary, Scotland - who cares?
I love your videos of the second-hand shops in Italy - OH the wrought iron!! If you can even find antique iron in the US, you can't afford it. As for the towels, when I was in Italy (Positano before your time) I didn't notice anything different about the towels. But then I like rough towels - good for exfoliating 🙂❤ Thanks for this video!
you want to talk about people who say sorry? come to canada ;) so nice to have Skye's perspective. she really has eyes like Carlo! hope you enjoyed your English time together
I’ve noticed the same thing as we travel between Canada and Spain! Here in Canada, we have great gas heating that keeps us cozy, but while in Spain last week, it was 21° outside, but I was freezing inside the house! 🤣
I would work at a non alcoholic based drinking bar! I’m the same as I don’t drink but occasionally I will enjoy here in New Zealand a Campari with ginger ale
So nice to see more of sky. That was very interesting to see the differences between Italy and England. I would really love to go to Italy to do thrift shopping as I watch another gal who is RUclips is about thrift shopping in Italy. But at 82 in a wheelchair I Don't Get Around Much anymore. LOL I really appreciate your new video blessings and love from New Mexico
I enjoyed this video. I know what you mean about hard towels (like sand paper) over here in Australia the sun is very strong and hot and it seems to turn the towels very hard as well, tumble dryer does help but some people have said by putting a little white vinegar in the final rinse helps, though I have not tried that yet. Enjoy both your channels, all the best.
It was wonderful to watch this chat between mother and daughter. It is good to hear Skye speak, she has a lovely accent.
What a lovely chat! Skye has grown into such a lovely and poised young woman. So nice that the two of you could have some time together!
Skye looks like her dad Carlo😍
Except prettier and more sophisticated. Did I say prettier? I think I did.
Yes she does.
I was thinking the same thing.
Like mother, like daughter ...you are both gorgeous, smart, kind and well spoken.
I see so much of Carlo in Skye. How fun this chat was.
Love the banter between you and Skye 😊 nice to get your opinions of the difference between the two countries. Nice to see Skye ❤ thank you Nicki and Skye 🤗❤ much love!

Well done Skye, thank you for your input ❤
It was so nice to hear the mom and daughter chat. Sky is always a bit of a mystery so its wonderful to find out she is a well spoken sweet person. Wishing you a happy and peaceful week ahead.
I always thought she'd be a lovely girl as she has nice parents. She went to school in England so has had good experience of both cultures.
I find that Skye is her own person - composed and independent. She was educated in England which accounts for her proficient bilingualism. She is definitely the best of both worlds. A lovely, polite and hard-working person. More Skye please! 🙏
Mother daughter chat much appreciated!
Lovely to see Skye. You have such a nice relationship.
Honestly, there are both wonderful and not wonderful things everywhere one goes . That's the beauty of travel.... not only are there great things to see, do and eat, but also the people. Even though we are all different, in many ways we are the same and it just takes a little getting to know each other. 😍😍
The time when a mother and daughter/son get together to chat is priceless.❤❤
It was lovely to really meet Skye and listen to her. Of course I have seen her in Positano on the channel, but she comes across very very well.
So good to see and hear Skye with you! What a lovely young woman, and I’m glad to get hear her chat with you!
Nice to see mom and daughter together ❤❤❤❤
Enjoyed the chat between you and Skye. You brought up some interesting subjects to discuss.💕
I like Skye’s English accent whilst speaking English.
I noticed the same 😉 whilst she was speaking.
Lovely to see you and Skye together.
Skye is just stunning!!
What a treat to hear from Skye!
So enjoyed that Nickey.. And lovely seeing Skye more confident with the vlogging. Would definitely love some more mummy and daughter chats!
Thank you Nicki & Skye for the chat. Regarding hard water in Italy, I will never forget my first trip to Italy in 1970 and bringing my shampoo that I was using in NYC, where we have soft water. I love when Skye pops in❤❤❤❤❤
I think with the towels, it is the sunshine that makes them feel so hard. Nice to see you two girls together.
The only problem with this episode is that it was too short!😍😍😍😍😍
yes 😄 , it feels like 2 min.
Agreed 💯 👍 💯 ❤❤❤❤

Lovely chat with Skye. What a beauty!

Really good chat. The -ace was just right. You both speak clearly and fluidly. I worked for years in presentation and speech training. Thanks.
What a lovely chat with you and Skye!!! Hope you are both well and happy!❤❤❤
I have the same water issues, so I add vinegar as the softener. And use woolen balls with jasmine oil (just a drop) Love the mother daughter review ! Glad you had time with Dad/Harry
I love Skye for many thing specially her determination and yes she does look like Carlo in more ways than one !!!...❤
That was a fun chat, mother and daughter.
Safe flight to you both❤
Great list. Truly highlighting the best of both worlds 🇮🇹 🇬🇧
Ah that was lovely chat with Skye. Both beautiful ladies 🥰 I am really enjoying this new channel 😊

Haha. I remember the towels in the rental we had in Italy. Yes, Skye is right, sandpaper.
Thank you for the video, Nicki. I really enjoyed it.
I assumed Skye would have an Italian accent growing up in Italy…..She’s so beautiful and kind❤❤

another great episode! We would like more of Skye!
That was so nice for you to have a chat with Skye. She is a lovely young woman! ❤️
Thank you to the beautiful mother and daughter, both so smart and so sweet !
Skye is absolutely beautiful!
Loved seeing/ hearing from Skye 💕
Yay!!! Happy Wednesday!!!

❤agreed and love ristorante carluccio my mom always treats me to a yummy tiramisu and expresso in uk ❤❤❤☕🍰
Thanks for sharing this video with us. How nice that Skye could join you and add her opinions 😊!
Gorgeous girl just like her mum ❤
❤I appreciate you two. Thank you for sharing your chat with us.
Lovely to see you and Skye together x
Sky is beautiful and well articulated.
Loved hearing both of you describe the differences.
You are both so lovely. Safe journey ladies.
Skye is so well spoken, she can organize her thoughts and explain things easily. Just like her Mom!. I really enjoyed this episode. I'm Italy all the way. Love seeing you and Sky together talking. America, well, where I'm at, we are very polite also, I enjoyed this video.
Americans are sooooo much more friendly than Brits.
Depending on where you live in America. South Florida not so nice. I live in south Florida but I lived in Texas and people are nice very nice 👌
Add White vinegar to the wash & the towels will be softer. Plus vinegar is antibacterial so it kills any germs on them. Of course you need to wash them with laundry soap too
The towels tend to be hard because of the water but also because people usually don’t use a tumble dryer🤷🏻♀️which as you say really softens them👍
If you hang your towels out but still have a tumble dryer, after your towels are dry on the line, give them a tumble to soften. It works!!
Love the chat with you and Sky❤
There you go you can open up a tea shop and sell cups of tea and the tea itself.
I really liked this one, thank you 🤩❤🎉
Now that was a fascinating discussion. Regarding towels, I read recently that we shouldn't use products to soften the towels in the first place - despite the pictures on the front of soft fluffy towels etc.
In regard to the towels that are hung to dry, they need to be ironed to soften them back up. Pain in the ..., but it does work.
So nice to see your daughter in a video with you.
More chats please ❤❤❤
I loved this lil chatty video. A lot of the ways from England we do in Canada, we say sorry all the time also, we say thank you a lot but less in big cities. That was a very nice discussion , not an interview and so pleasant. It was very informative and thank you for that.
Loved Skyes accent!! She is so beautiful as well !
Love the discussion. Over the years, UK started putting in 'face towels' in hotels
40 years ago in Austria, Germany, France - NEVER!

What a sweet young lady your Skye is (just like her mommy).
The nice book "The Road Less Traveled"
I love your videos of the second-hand shops in Italy - OH the wrought iron!! If you can even find antique iron in the US, you can't afford it. As for the towels, when I was in Italy (Positano before your time) I didn't notice anything different about the towels. But then I like rough towels - good for exfoliating 🙂❤ Thanks for this video!
Skye's hair has grown so long! Seems like she cut it short not too long ago but its probably been years! 😮
Skye is adorable! 😊
Love the new channel!!!
Love your thoughts and conversations Skye is a beautiful young woman
Sky looks very much like her father. Lovely daughter to you both.💕
If you have a water softener installed and then rinse your towels in vinegar, not fabric conditioner - they should be softer.
you want to talk about people who say sorry? come to canada ;) so nice to have Skye's perspective. she really has eyes like Carlo! hope you enjoyed your English time together

I'm in a hard water area of England (South West) and I have cardboard towels 🙂
I enjoyed this video. I know what you mean about hard towels (like sand paper) over here in Australia the sun is very strong and hot and it seems to turn the towels very hard as well, tumble dryer does help but some people have said by putting a little white vinegar in the final rinse helps, though I have not tried that yet.
