Really enjoy the minimalist aesthetic of this, also cool to see the sort of leaf spring o ring plate gasket mount on a 60%. Might have been in for this at a lower price point, but frankly for low volume, I doubt they’re operating with crazy margin
Yeah I do wish this board was at least 150 dollars cheaper, but I doubt that would have been sustainable for the volume they are cranking out. This will definitely be a small batch project.
@@alexotos Here’s to hoping that they sell well enough to lead to future opportunities for more high volume runs at lower prices (if that’s of interest to them).
That's a beautiful keyboard, but that's a horrible business plan. I was into the hobbies, getting a lot of Group Buys. However, pay 399, 499 or much much more in a keyboard that will be shipping someday after 2 or 3 years, with no after selling support for pieces, seems to be very stupid and non-sense to me. "oh, they are small company with a unique design", whatever, products like that should be available or in in-stock batches or should be, at least, less expensive than that, since you should wait for a long time of rthe production and shipping (with a lot of "sorry"from the designer/producer). That's why I don't put my money on that anymore. Again, beautiful design to put in a art event or exposition, but not practical to reach the consumer.
I dont disagree that group buys are a tough sell in the current market of todays faster turn around times and keyboards that are much better in value, but there will always been smaller batch projects that may only appeal to a handful of people. Every hobby will still have those, but i completely agree that this will only appeal to people with the cash to get something something that is more of an "art" piece to them and not practical when you compare it to the current climate of boards. The good thing is we can have both in the hobby!
The same is present in many other hobbies. Look at fountain pens, fashion, art collections, coffee, photography. This board is not even as expensive as others with less well thought out design.
A lot of people would have disagree with this comment a couple years ago, because people truly thought it was that expensive to make a keyboard. Now that we now it is not true (just look at what Node and others have been able to produce which is not only cheaper but top notch), we have to adapt. I also bought $400+ boards and I'm not sure I will ever again. And at the very very least, I would want an expensive board to have all the bells and whistles that I can find on cheaper ones. The one in this video is definitely not one of those.
@@Maxime-ho9iv I’m gunna be honest, this really isn’t fair to anyone’s time involved in making a keyboard. I get that maybe the RAW cost of something can be cheap and some companies with much higher MOQs may get some amazing prices on things but that just isn’t true for everyone doing boards. Plus some folk may value their time and labour differently and that’s okay to do so. Now does this mean you have to spend your money on that? No. But I think it’s rather disingenuous to say that not all keyboards are worth money. I do agree there are tons (TONS) of great alternatives at varying price points though, that’s the truth, but that may not be what everyone is after. I also have built tons of boards and I can tell you as someone who knows what they like in a board, I don’t think I need all the bells and whistles! It’s all preference at the end of the day and hobbies are meant to be fun.
@@alexotos I think it’s a good discussion to have. But to have this conversation you have to go beyond the typical argument used for way too many things nowadays that if someone can buy it, then it’s valid, since it’s kinda meaningless really, not only because it’s boring and sad but because it brings nothing really meaningful to discuss. I personally think the whole industry and community is way too opaque for you to be convinced it’s a fair price. I don’t think expensive is an issue, I have very expensive things myself, but I think it needs to have a meaning. And to have a meaning we need to be good critics at what is presented to us. « Oh yes it’s expensive because of this, that and that ». And again, looking at what people have been able to produce recently for such affordable price (affordable compared to what was presented to us not a long time ago) I’m not even sure my own barometer is even calibrated correctly.
Someone can't convince me this board isn't at least referencing xenoblade. My xeno pilled brain went to this after the board name and the 2 color ways aegis and elysium.
$400 USD for this? I have nothing against minimalism and simplicity. It can be quite elegant when done right. But this one is pretty dull if you ask me, super long feet make no sense and are actually pretty ugly imo, as well as the two perforation on the base.
Apart from the aesthetics and mount style, why they do all sound clacky similar to my ears? I mean, I expected noticeable difference between different switches and dampening material. Weird.
This was supposed to go into GB sometime in the middle of 2023 but was delayed to now. This price point wouldve make sense back then but not anymore. Also, might just be me, but Antipode's way of doing GB is getting long in the tooth. Gotta keep up with changing times, bud.
I've always loved flat side profiled 60%'s similar to the Tofu60 and CW60 and this one hits the same spot just as well!
love the xenoblade references for this keyboard, with the name itself and also some of the colorways!
Just bought one :)))) same color as yours as well probably going to get the same keycaps too
10:51 Switches witches? lol someone definitely should make Witches Switches :D

did you change the frame rate you record stream on?
I havent! does it look different?
@alexotos Just the beginning bit w the slide in lol.. besides that it's buisness as usual!
Colours are nice but I see no reason for this to be over $250 considering the design and materials.
Agree. Minimalism is cool, and minimalism is not always easier to produce, but I think that in this case it is and should be priced accordingly.
I bought a used unikorn instead of this board. Did I make a mistake?
you did the right thing

coming from a keyboard lover, these prices and group buys are starting to get out of hand.
What do you mean? Great boards have never been cheaper.
@SlickSpingo I guess I'm saying equivalent to this board. For value and getting the same things, are $250. Not $400 just for the case.
@@vadoiski yeah price-wise this is not worth it for another plain rectangle
Yea thats true, this aint bang for ur buck
Specially when most of these boards are just the same damn boring layout over and over again, but it's dark green and more expensive this time around.
YESS ANOTHER VID AS I WAS REWATCHING PAST VIDS ❤️❤️❤️
This stream made me by the Olive Noir set. $$$

what's that keeb pad? seems so gorgeous
cool board, just not worth the GB wait or the price tag though.
They managed to launch new stuffs every time when I was extremely busy at work, and by the time I found out, sold out... 😞
Yeah same lol
400 USD for this is just plain ridiculous.
i like his hair texture
already gone :/

Nu ma nu ma iei, nu ma nu ma nu ma ie
space sounds a bit too harsh
Geon feet bad choice, causes thudding sound for most boards, e.g., frog tkl & mini
I didn't really notice any thudding, but I have never built a frog mini, just the TKL!
still waiting on my derivative and petals sixty 🫠
