For anyone wondering, it's actually really easy to get high scores in audio racing games. They have a VERY VERY small community. I've got several dozen myself on Audiosurf 2 for most of my favorite songs. It's much more fun to do daily songs though that the system picks out and fight for the leaderboards for those.

Bowser Main You do get more points, but only if you get the 'super sync', so when you're before the first line (the one on the ground). You get a 10x multiplier instead of 4x then. Or if you're a bit behind it can help you recover (there are 2 more lines further back, for 3x and 2x multiplier). Basically, boost is boost, it works the same so matter what you're doing, but the effect is the strongest while drifting
Bowser Main Well, get ready for a shitton of bugs then. This game is quite broken sometimes. Also, it might get boring quite quickly, there aren't that many people playing it and not many song are actually enjoyable in this game. For me it's 3* and up with a lot of drifting, rest is just boring. Oh and some songs literally break the game
