Dr. Mann was never a "hero" but rather one chasing heroism -- his journey is an ego-play, basically chasing "looking great" vs "being great." When confronted with the actual hero's journey (which typically ends with an inevitable death both in fiction and in real life), he cracks. And it's understandable as well because most of us are also concerned with "looking great" vs the hard work of actual greatness.
I have always loved Dr. Mann's line that explains his character : "We can care deeply - selflessly - about those we know, but that empathy rarely extends beyond our line of sight." Shame viewers mostly ignored it as Hans Zimmer amazing soundtrack blocked out , and editing of that scene was not that good. Jonathan Nolan wrote the dialogues, so you just feel Interstellar part of some episode from Westword.
4:44 THAT moment when cipher wakes up, that is his judas moment in the movie. And the way the actor performs it with a revelatory gasping wake and then the subtle disappointment of being back in the real world is so effing brilliant.
Well done! Love the humility at the end... Yet, I believe in you for two reasons with evidence: You can face your darkside. And, you made this channel. Well done!
I see the deeper issue as being choosing between the good for the one(s) we love most (Trinity, kids, Edmonds, etc) versus the good of our species--Neo chooses Trinity over everyone, breaking the cycle that had kept the matrix working repeatedly, whether Cooper/Brand are making decisions based on what's good for everyone versus their personal wants is always at issue--arguably it's a very "western movie ideology" that these movies tell us it's OK to follow our hearts over logic
Dr Mann was the HERO. None of them knew a magic god was gonna save everyone later. All Mann knew was that he, and he alone, was acting to save MANKIND. Everyone else was willing to let mankind go extinct because they didn't have the fortitude to do what was needed to save the human race.. Later, some juvenile imagined God used a magic wand and everyone was saved.. Dr. Mann was the ONLY hero. He, and he alone, made the hard choice. He and he alone was willing to die to save mankind
@mr.g4099 I remember a trippy 3D prismatic fractal scene that I liked, think that had to do with the wardrobe. and I remember that interstellar and cloud atlas were both released around the same time and similar, and that interstellar was the ok watchable one while cloud atlas was an absolute mess that took much of the same problems of interstellar to the next level. otherwise, I thought the two movies were easily confused with one another, just one being longer and worse.

You point out Dr. Hugh Mann, but you seem to have missed Luis "Cypher" Reagan. Luis Cypher. Lucifer.

"A hero is someone who gets back up when he can't."
I wanted a scene of matt Damon's character surviving the airlock explosion and floating in frozen space alone

Interstellar is one of the best movies I ever saw. Great observations
I can give you a list of 200 superior films.
Loved your video. Also isn't one of the reasons we hate traitors is that we're afraid we wouldn't pass the test too?

World class exposition is lost in dusty volumes nobody will open again. Your channel I think will reinvigorate it.
...please to Biblical exposition. Let's talk if you're interested.
You could say they are volumes of forgotten lore...

The lesson from Interstellar is apparently science is magic and love is a fundamental force of nature.
I remember 0 plot of interstellar, no idea what you're saying
Dude stuck behind a wardrobe
