It would be cool if you did a "2025 revisited" style video summarising the year in soulslikes and checking any updates of previous games. Easy algorithm fodder.
@made-of-magic this is a great idea dude, I'd love to see how the unfinished games are faring now Also opera bad but get that bag ironpineapple as long as it's not gambling or something shady

Thanks for featuring the romhack i spent a lot of sleepless nights finishing for the hm competition. Curse of Moonlight was a showcase of what I had learned over a year. Along with my team I am proud to see this featured here.
I'm not sure how to express but this game seems to have it all when it comes to light hearted fun mixed with absurdly compelling combat, narrative and world building.. I'm looking forward to try that beauty, mate. big ups from Brazil 🤘🏻
@lovelydeedee0 okay but my pet peeve is how we all look the other way when we see 3hr videos that summarize classic books and and pretend those don't negatively impact literacy
I'm convinced that Pine only grabs Vaati to play games that he knows will be painful. Like he COULD HAVE brought Vaati to play the cute shrimp game, but grabbed Shar instead and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Vaati rage/salt is my favorite thing.

God damn i love dev comments like this. Whether pineapple’s review was good or bad, it speaks VOLUMES for a dev to comment on a random vid like this. Guys, Armatus is so addictive. I was sceptical as well, 'cause Godfall and me, that didn't work out as I thought. But than I saw a comment here on RUclips, where someone said Armatus is like if Returnal and Remnant had a child. Well, right now I'm 11 hours into the demo, did countless runs, trying different builds and I can't wait for the full release.
I think one of the more interesting things we've learned from this video is that Pineapple has an internal dialogue consisting of routinely saying to himself "F*ck my baka life" or 'chungus' respectfully.
thank you for giving Eternity Egg (+all the other games you covered) a platform. I really appreciate that you spent some time with it, despite being still WIP in early access and quite janky in places 😎 and also, for the thoughtful feedback, which I will take into serious consideration as I continue towards finishing this thing over the next few months/year!
Like Pineapple said, the aesthetic gives cruelty squad but I also think it it's like The Amazing Digital Circus in what the world feels like. Very unique and cool, I look forward to see more.
Okay, if I... if I chop you up in a meat grinder, and the only thing that comes out, that's left of you, is your eyeball, you'r- you're PROBABLY DEAD! You're probably going to - not you, I'm just sayin', like, if you- if somebody were to, like, push you into a meat grinder, and, like, your- one of your finger bones is still intact, they're not gonna pick it up and go, "Well see, yeah it wasn't deadly, it wasn't an instant kill move! You still got, like, this part of your finger left!" NO I'M NOT GONNA PUT YOU INTO A MEAT GRINDER. I'M NOT GONNA PUT YOU INTO A MEAT GRINDER. NO. I'm making a reference to the fact that, like, if I, like, if I were to get fucking KILLED... I don't know, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN'. If- if- okay, if you were to- okay we're gonna take humans out of this, if alien Globgobglobgo 1 fuckin' shoots a disintegrating ray at alien Globglo 2, if there's only fucking TEETH LEFT, it's- it's fucking you're dead, you're dead. "If I were to put you in a meat grinder," goddamnit, it's so fucked up! You understand what I'm sayin' though, I'm not actually saying that I'm going to put somebody in a meat grinder, goddamnit. Whatever.
thanks for trying Sunset Devils and giving it such a glowing review! super fun to see you pick up on all the nuances. sorry about the fence post getting you stuck (we fixed it since promise)
a cool system tp prevent just weapon spamming is tying the damage to how much mp u have, when empty does max damage but as you fill it up with attacks the damage decreases to 1 or something. making you then use the spells. add a bestiary so u can see after testing spells which one is most effective. idk just throwing thoughts out to prevent weapon spam
Unsolicited information, but Metaphor ReFantazio has a mechanic where you can kill lower level enemies in the overworld without starting a turnbased battle. Maybe that would help with the repeating fights?
Obey the Insect God is part of why I love these vids so much. Getting to see weird projects that I'd never encounter/look for myself bundled with the Pineapple charm. Thanks for every vid you make regardless of wait time.
@pawkeshup The original was a wonderful game thatwas slightly less plagued by some publisher decisions - the offline version that's coming soon-ish might be the best game out of the whole series
@Kituss14 It was far from perfect to be sure, but it was way better than either of its sequel properties. Even it was infested with microtransactions, but at least they didn't seem as needed as now.
The Queen's Domain segment post-super jump reminds me of how some older demo disks had entire unfinished versions of the game in there that you could glitch into by bypassing a trigger or timer, really fun bit
One of the Skate games had a timer in the demo but you could get out of bounds to see most of the map. Was one of the cooler experiences when I was young.
Thank you for playing our game :) (Mecha Legends) Just yesterday we just pushed a major update on the demo with all the improvements you mentioned but unfortunately you got to play a version from one year of development behind :) Great video! Thank you for supporting indie dev!!
I gotta say, I have been a long time armored core fan and your game scratched an itch that most mech games just dont, the weight. Every action the mech makes really does make it feel like its a 40 ton machine. When he got hit backwards through the buildings and each one breaking had hit stun PLUS the mech model actually having a "stopping" animation from that action just made it feel like a movie. Very excited to see what you guys make
naw, that box is just in the shop holy moly all the same though, i loved that demo but didn't realise that boost jump is a thing. i tried and i guess failed the timing and assumed it wasn't possible and there he goes
That shop is accessed by using the funny duck statue. I know it's kinda disappointing that he didn't glitch his way to it, but yeah. That's meant to be accessible in the demo.
The sheer unfiltered bubbly joy in Shar's voice while playing the shrimp game has to be the best possible advertisement it could've ever gotten Sounds and looks like an absolute blast. I'm definitely gonna buy it
almost everyone that played it did it too, at least the people that could pull the trick of. it almost feels intentional with how much is still active past the point you "cant" access. im preety sure the devs dont mind it. cause the trick is not easy to pull off and its not consistent, so for people to go to that lenght it means they got something special in their hands, it means people WANT more of it. i would imagine thats a good sign. theres still clearly a lot more that is completely blockd off still.
Thanks so much for checking out FIGHT-QUEST!! (and for generously calling it a "Soulslike" haha) It’s tough to revisit that older footage. I was in college and rushed it out for Next Fest, not knowing if I’d be able to continue development. Now that the co-creator and I are working on it full time, I’m confident we’re building FIGHT-QUEST into something special. Thanks again for playing and for the valuable feedback!
Oh r u the dev cause I have fight quest, it’s not perfect I think more upgrades and variation should be added but it’s fun to play when I just don’t know what to play, it’s good fun, well done!
For Fight Quest put in a grab gameplay mechanic, so for example you can grab and use the Frog Wizard as an offensive magic weapon, but it pops after 10 shots from expiry by you squeezing it so hard. Maybe you can grab the little gnomes and tear them in half ("rip and tear") so that Gnomes run in fear for some time. Punch the Mushrooms so they knock out any Gnomes that are hit by it. Just some food for thought.
You could really utilise a grab mechanic to do so much, even use smaller enemies as a baseball bat and/or via the pixie have cards that have you building up strength to hold them longer and to do crazier abilities such as tearing ememies in half. I think you guys have a cool game idea, and being able to grab things is a good idea.
i love you including more types of games. you are better at reviewing games than most, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on just more indie games in general, not just souls-likes
I know it might be a bit more work, but i'd absolutely take a video like this for the other games that aren't quite Souls Like. These videos have become one of my main sources for finding new indie games that nobody else is talking about, so another for the cut stuff i'd 100% watch!
Big same. On a more selfish note, I would appreciate it if these videos were broken up just a liiittle bit more. 30 mins to an hour is the sweet spot for me. Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch the longer videos because I love Iron Pineapple's content and think he's doing legitimately important work for the gaming industry with these reviews. However we're rapidly approaching "Pannenkoek talks for an excessive amount of time about obscure Super Mario 64 mechanics" video length and I think that'll turn folks off.
@webbowser8834personally I love the long length, I'll watch the video spread across multiple days to a week. I feel like the video lends itself well to it, you can easily just watch 1 or 2 games and continue with your day.
Razbuten nailed Pine's thing. Most people try the thing and say "meh not very effective". Pine goes "lets try this in these 5 other scenarios and see if it works better there"
I haven't watched the full video, but watching you break queen's domain is the best indicator that you love a game, when you like something so much that you can't just abandon it and you want to get every last drop of experience out of it.
Raz's little discussion / "callout" at around 2:05:00 was so accurate. When you were playing Sunset Devils and started geeking out about the mechanics I was thinking the exact same thing! You started talking about the game and I knew you would get all hyped about "oh this mechanic has LAYERS and is implemented in MANY systems" and that is 100% your "thing" that gets you going about video games. You then immediately did it in the next game, Spirited Line, "I wish this boss had like more mechanics in the first phase, like if one hand could hit the other or something". And then you did it again with Eternity Egg haha! You interact with games in actually a pretty unique and almost dev-tester way. It is definitely something I appreciate about you and this channel. It's something I want to know when it comes to the games I play. The complexity and layering of mechanics is not as critical for me. But I still respect that it's a big factor for you and I enjoy your analysis of games with that factor at the forefront.
I've always noticed this too and also think it's funny but informative! I've learned a lot about myself from these videos just by noticing the ways Pine and I think differently about games. Like I'm so much more willing to play a game "as intended" by the devs or maybe more specifically as a curated experience rather than getting enjoyment out of trying to bend and break things or "what-ifs." I genuinely think it's cool because it makes it easy to know when I'll also like a game on his recommendation vs. knowing ahead of time it's not for me.
Pine: *Dedicates a significant portion of his career to reviewing and highlighting small devs* Small Devs: *includes a Pine based Easter egg* Pine: "Oh I'm embarrassed." 😳 So wholesome!
What, you don't push the Caps Lock, the 'G' key and '8' on the num-pad with one hand to crouch? What are you, a barbarian who uses Ctrl? *Snorts derisively*
You did the BEST review possible for Queen’s Domain, as getting to see further than the demo intended, which was already so good, was truly the cherry on top to get us all excited for this game! Clearly the devs are extremely passionate about what they are creating and have put so much love into their project already! Can’t wait to see more and for all of us to explore its nooks and crannies!
@yourfriendtuskswhilst yes, you missed a banger section of the video, I fully support this choice, for you will adore all you’ll find in there, I think!
Same, i love the awesome indie games on display, and ive never watched lets play content, but their dynamic actually had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt
Hello, thank you for playing Menes: The Chainbreaker. The demo is very much improved by now, it is my first bigger game and it is solodeveloped, with help from friends. I will take all the feedback in and make it worth!
I dont know if ur still reading the comments. But ur game was intresting. But u did somethings better than other. You have amazing enviroments and world building. My unsolisted advice, is to make the game, split into stages instead of it being open world. Like dark souls. Make the enviroments smaller but still cool. Increase combat and add more enemies but not to many. Cut some of the tedious platforming. Basically do what the developers did with with dark souls 2. They tried to make an open world game, but had some technical limitations so they hacked the game to piceces and expand on it mid development.
@jimmytreant5699 Hey, noted, will see if and what I can do. What I can promise is that this is my first go at it and will have something really special in the end
One of my favorite side-benefits of this series is getting to hear folks like Vaati and Razbuten letting loose more than they do in their own videos. It's a nice reminder that these calm, collected folks with deep thoughts and gentle demeanors can be chaotic goofballs just like the rest of us :P
it's funny how you became my favorite channel to get new games, I always find something cool to play here, please never stop doing those (and you can add non souls like games, at this point i'm sure we're all fine)
I personally love these longer videos and my favorite parts are seeing you play these weird esoteric games nobody has even heard of. I genuinely look forward to these. Keep it up man!
Devora's inventory is screaming 'The Forest' to me. Had a very similar 'tarp on the ground with all your weird gub in it' aesthetic for its inventory and crafting screen.
You can tell Iron is a youngun; in Eternity Egg he didn’t recognize the audio screen as being a reference to Winamp/Windows Media Player skins from back in the day.
This series is genuinely important. Not just to me, because I adore them, but to gaming in Current Year. You're doing something nobody else can do at this scale, and you uplift games that we would never give a first glance, let alone a second. In summary, the algorithm demands engagement, and I'm doing my part to get this into as many eyeballs as possible. Thank you, IP. Thank you.
Oh I SUPER vibe with this kind of video. Was super stoked seeing how many games you were looking at in this one. I just don't have the patience to look for niche little indie projects, but honestly this brings me so much joy. This is where games being an art really shines. And I love how earnest a try you give each one. It's a delight every time. Devs commenting on your video only makes it better.
"Hmm it's been a while since the last steam dumpster diving, wonder if there's something going on..." The double length feature film waiting behind the next corner:
I actually recognized Sampo as being finnish folk/myth because the new Genshin region is based on finnish/celtic culture and some other areas and there's lore about a device called the Sampo mill. There's also little guys called Kuuhenki, but I don't know if they have anything to do with the henki you're mentioning.
I loved seeing all of these smaller, more niche, crazy concepts of games! I would watch way more than 4 hours of showcasing smaller weird experiences like most of these
Dude, that Gnome hitting game reminded me of that one video of the guy slapping a child and then everyone comes running towards him just to get slapped aswell.
I loved the range! Would absolutely adore seeing more types of games like this all the time. We all love Souls-Likes, but this series has moved beyond that scope, and that is not only okay, but part of what makes it so special.
Just do a separate Steam Dumpster Diving series alongside the soulslike one. If you already have the footage it's a no-brainer. It's worth a shot. Just call it "I've played X non Souls-Like games you've never heard of" and go from there.
at this point his channel is large enough he could post him recycling cans at a grocery store and people would line up and tell him how great it is lol. I wouldnt mind a deviation in that area but then we open a can of worms and he may not want that honestly
Thinking like that makes some channels just die. Algorithm assigns channel to different category, people don't see their subscriptions because algorithm assumes they won't be interested and... Well, hard to do much about it. YT is extremely volatile environment, part of the reason really huge YT content creators are selling their channels to some equity funds whenever possible - just for that little bit of a stability.
Gotta be honest, across all dumpster diving episodes, that Queen's Domain segment is probably my favorite game showcase you've done! I LOVE getting the hang of niche tech in order to push (and sometimes break) the boundaries of the games I play.
Absolutely delighted to see a long vid with plenty of variety. It's really oklay to try a bunch of different games out that aren't necessarily souls like. People like your content for you, I feel like, and you don't require any flimsy justification to showcase something. I love that you're always willing to try and meet a game where it's coming from, judge it by it's own merits, and find something to love about it.
17:00 insane design choice to put an enemy that takes 3.000001 hits to kill as the very first encounter, you hit it 3 times with the default weapon and it's left with 1 hp
I know you've made your brand as a souls-like reviewer, but genuinely, I'd watch you review anything you're interested in. I enjoy the weird little projects you surface and the very fair way you treat passion projects and small teams. I also think you give excellent playtesting feedback. Please consider doing a non-soulslike series!
I'd at least realy like to see the backlog of footage he mentioned. I feel like IP has such a good way with words and expressing opinions i'd love to see the other stuff too
Real feedback - i dont care bout the souls like theme - i just want to see u play alll these cool indie games. I have bought a ton of these games u showcased and had tons of fun playing them. Keep it up!!!
57:36 I ADORED the original Let it Die, especially for the music and high amount of content you could see without hitting a paywall. I’ve been considering Inferno, and am very sad but appreciative of your review saving me the time.
Can't wait for Queens Domain. I recommend trying out The Last Faith as its like a blasphemous x blood borne spinoff or Felvidek which doesn't really fit the "souls-like" tag but is such an underrated gem based on 15th century Slovakia
Yes bro love it. Love the length, the variaty in games, the coop shenanigans, the commentary and ur ability to pinpoint those obscure mechanics in games. I feel like i look at games and play them in a different way cause of you. Keep it up man one of the goats of yt en my eyes.

Opera sucks

Never seen such a high concentration of hype in the comments as for Queens Domain! Praying for the day it gets released
Your game is sick
Is there any way to support you financially? I have not had such a great experience as with your game. It is like playing a video game when you were a child and everything‘s new and exciting
I tried the demo, and it wasn't for me, but clearly y'all know what you're going for! And it is gorgeous! Good luck with it!!

SHRIMP GAME dev here. kriller video
You've made my year IP!!! 💓🦐
I'll be making all my friends get it 🫡
My best friend and I are already OBSESSED with Shrimp Game after seeing it featured here
They're just lil guys!
Did shrimp made this game huh??
You're telling me a shrimp made this game?

I feel like I'm being trained to watch progressively longer compilations of soulslike gameplay
Something has to counteract the short form content epidemic.
And I am absolutely all for it. This shit makes my month.
The dream is when he uploads a 12 hour video or longer , and I will love every second of it
@Kkhrys_exp23longman good :)
@lovelydeedee0 okay but my pet peeve is how we all look the other way when we see 3hr videos that summarize classic books and and pretend those don't negatively impact literacy
"You beat Radahn with summons" is so f*cking funny that he held onto it
came here looking for that exact comment lol xD
@mario.alarcontimestamp
No Vaatividyas have been harmed in the making of this video, and I am not ok with that.
no vaatiniohdyas was criminal
this got liked, we need at least 10 more co-op souls' likes you've never heard of :D
My fault, sorry.
EDIT: At least Razbutin got the knives out to compensate.
Iron owes us an extended video of him making Vaati play some cursed coop game now.
Just started the segment and came here to say the colour and texture work is gorgeous. What previous games did you use for inspiration?
I honestly cannot wait until Obey The Insect God gets a full playthrough here. That game is like a window into a madman's tortured mind
Seemed normal to me 😅
I'm convinced that Pine only grabs Vaati to play games that he knows will be painful. Like he COULD HAVE brought Vaati to play the cute shrimp game, but grabbed Shar instead and honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Vaati rage/salt is my favorite thing.
I love the Vaati vids lol the chemistry between them while they're in agony is 🤌
Yeah the dynamic of Pine trying to find the good in a game and Vaati being so over it is phenomenal.
Knew Vaati was good at lore, terrible at gameplay
Thank you so much for featuring my game in the video! (Obey the Insect God)
Bro, your game is so good and funny🤣
@IamFmPlaythank you!
Definitely checking it out myself
@zaloskog hope you enjoy it!
Its goated, keep it up man I will buy it 100%
It's 2030 and Pine has just released episode 43 of Steam Dumpster Diving. The runtime is 17 hours long, and it's another masterpiece!
"I played ALL the Souls-likes you've never heard of"
Ooohhh nice reference to one of the best blue boys in media.
(Watch all of sonic fans be confused)
At some point, a DVD box set is a more reasonable medium than RUclips.
I would watch it!
Hearing Shar having the time of her life in SHRIMP GAME was adorable
Yeah. Shar is precious
ty for providing a reason for mr spleen to exist
You are diabolical for christening the team the Bareback Brothers lmao
You guys were so funny!
Mr. Spleen should become a reoccurring character on your channel. Maybe it's time for a second V-Tuber model?
Truly, he was a genuine thug
the Bareback Brothers bit made me cry with laughter, immaculate

love the vibe and loop , please add DLSS it runs so bad on my 5070
Just added Armatus to my wishlist!

Wow, thats cool u like these videos

@benjamintjeltathey’re friends
I think one of the more interesting things we've learned from this video is that Pineapple has an internal dialogue consisting of routinely saying to himself "F*ck my baka life" or 'chungus' respectfully.

and also, for the thoughtful feedback, which I will take into serious consideration as I continue towards finishing this thing over the next few months/year!
i love eternity egg!, im very excited to see the finished product, one of my favorite visual directions in a game ever
I hope you'll be able to stick to it. The current version raises hope to incredibly high levels, awesome stuff!
I love your game so much like the style and movement is amazing!
It really gave me Kaiba vibes
Like Pineapple said, the aesthetic gives cruelty squad but I also think it it's like The Amazing Digital Circus in what the world feels like. Very unique and cool, I look forward to see more.
"oh that's a meat grinder.............can I jump in it....."
Whatever.
Mood
thanks for trying Sunset Devils and giving it such a glowing review! super fun to see you pick up on all the nuances. sorry about the fence post getting you stuck (we fixed it since promise)
This was my favorite game shown, so much style and unique mechanics, I will be giving it a try, it looks like a blast.
This game seems BEAUTIFUL!
Alright y'all upvote the dev comment.
Man, such a unique game, keep it up!
Straight to wishlist
Nioh 3 becoming firendslop when played in coop is definitely an interesting perspective lol
Yo
friend slop?
So when are we gonna get the "I played 24 buckbumble-likes you never heard of"
haha, underrated comment
12/10
Next year reliable sources say
GOAT start screen song
Hi, the Dev of Pilgrim: Unto Shadow here. Glad you played our game. Definitely a lot left to refine, but we’re happy you played and for your feedback
a cool system tp prevent just weapon spamming is tying the damage to how much mp u have, when empty does max damage but as you fill it up with attacks the damage decreases to 1 or something. making you then use the spells. add a bestiary so u can see after testing spells which one is most effective. idk just throwing thoughts out to prevent weapon spam
Sick
Just wishlisted ur game - reminds me a bit of the old Pokémon ranger games
Your game is begging for an enemy posture bar. Maybe your attack has a better chance of guard break the longer you hold it.
Unsolicited information, but Metaphor ReFantazio has a mechanic where you can kill lower level enemies in the overworld without starting a turnbased battle. Maybe that would help with the repeating fights?
"Shrimp are the bumblebees of the ocean." An Iron Pineapple quote.
"Stinky. Wow. What was that?" -IP
i dont watch this for the souls like games, i watch this for the indie gems you showcase, go nuts. thank you
Obey the Insect God is part of why I love these vids so much. Getting to see weird projects that I'd never encounter/look for myself bundled with the Pineapple charm. Thanks for every vid you make regardless of wait time.
it looks like 90s abandonware and i love it
It looks like the top down CD Zelda game.
Gives me big pit fighter vibes
It's such a weird game but like... good weird? idk if I would play it, but it's definitely unique and interesting.
It's like a trannie , rough to look at but it ain't so bad once you are in it.
That Let It Die game just screams “a few talented devs, and horrible leadership”
What's really sad is that Let It Die had such a strong premise. I loved my time with the original game, but every project since has just gotten worse.
@pawkeshup The original was a wonderful game thatwas slightly less plagued by some publisher decisions - the offline version that's coming soon-ish might be the best game out of the whole series
@Kituss14 It was far from perfect to be sure, but it was way better than either of its sequel properties. Even it was infested with microtransactions, but at least they didn't seem as needed as now.
the name is also quite ironic
@Kituss14 There's an offline version coming? Oh the original game or inferno? Where did you hear this?
"Queen's Domain": The Demo is only the Starting Area.
Iron Pineapple: *Queen's Domain Expansion: [Dev Name]*
metal fruit
..."And I took it personally".
Expansion: Skeleton Pose
I think that was the jack-o-pose lol
😊😊😊😊😊
God that Nioh part had me in stitches, you guys have incredible chemistry together, fckin S-tier content right there :D
The Queen's Domain segment post-super jump reminds me of how some older demo disks had entire unfinished versions of the game in there that you could glitch into by bypassing a trigger or timer, really fun bit
I'm glad I'm not the only one that got that nostalgic old school glitch vibe
If I remember right there was a zelda demo you could speedrun the whole game with, wild stuff
One of the Skate games had a timer in the demo but you could get out of bounds to see most of the map. Was one of the cooler experiences when I was young.
@janvangils5560 Thats the demo in smash brawl
Or one of the Spyro games that had an entire Crash Bandicoot game on the disc too.
Thank you for playing our game :) (Mecha Legends)
Just yesterday we just pushed a major update on the demo with all the improvements you mentioned but unfortunately you got to play a version from one year of development behind :)
Great video! Thank you for supporting indie dev!!
This was a fav from me, I’m excited to try it
Really nice, hope to see more
Dude, the art is your game is fucking rad. What we saw in the video is clearly pretty early in development, but it's already oozing with style.
Very excited to see what you guys make
Yo your animations and movement go SO hard dude.
25:11 what is insane is that the man reached this point out of bounds for something that was meant for him
naw, that box is just in the shop
holy moly all the same though, i loved that demo but didn't realise that boost jump is a thing. i tried and i guess failed the timing and assumed it wasn't possible and there he goes
Incredible.
That shop is accessed by using the funny duck statue. I know it's kinda disappointing that he didn't glitch his way to it, but yeah. That's meant to be accessible in the demo.
That's not what out of bounds means, but okay.
I really enjoy that eurothug is so serious in her videos and practically a different person when streaming/playing with you
The sheer unfiltered bubbly joy in Shar's voice while playing the shrimp game has to be the best possible advertisement it could've ever gotten
Sounds and looks like an absolute blast. I'm definitely gonna buy it
seeing this comment before getting to that part I am looking forward to whatever the fuck shrimp game is
Some dev for Queens domain is like "ah FUCK" watching you bypass the demo content lol
It’s been like that since the demo released, it’s been out for a while, I did the same thing a couple months ago, it’s pretty fun.
almost everyone that played it did it too, at least the people that could pull the trick of. it almost feels intentional with how much is still active past the point you "cant" access. im preety sure the devs dont mind it. cause the trick is not easy to pull off and its not consistent, so for people to go to that lenght it means they got something special in their hands, it means people WANT more of it. i would imagine thats a good sign. theres still clearly a lot more that is completely blockd off still.
@samuraibeluga3749 yeah this seems to be the same boat for stone too
Nah, prolly got at least 20 - 50 sales from that alone.
Given they put an Iron Pineapple in there, I think they assumed him to bypass it.
Thanks so much for checking out FIGHT-QUEST!! (and for generously calling it a "Soulslike" haha)
It’s tough to revisit that older footage.
I saw your game on Vinesauce, and I love your idea of a guy just going out into the woods and beating up gnomes. I hope future development goes well!
This video made me wishlist it, so don't feel too bad. The charm comes through!
I'm subscribing to Maria for the Mr spleen gag. Fucking genius!

Is that good
@AC-hj9tv Depends
"I wonder where pine is, it's been a while"
Pine - "I WAS PLAYING ALL OF STEAM"
Queen's Domain Dev: "that's all we have for the demo"
Pine: "who decided that?"
i love you including more types of games. you are better at reviewing games than most, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on just more indie games in general, not just souls-likes
I know it might be a bit more work, but i'd absolutely take a video like this for the other games that aren't quite Souls Like. These videos have become one of my main sources for finding new indie games that nobody else is talking about, so another for the cut stuff i'd 100% watch!
honestly if i could figure out how to edit like Pine id be making roguelite versions of these,
Not me though.
@ShinoaburameX3333you should just go for it! I'd watch, and you only get better through practice!
I might have to play the demo now, that looks fucking awesome
does anyone know if the devs were okay with him exploring out of bounds?
@PsychoMELONZThe out of bounds skip is well known. The devs have chosen not to remove it.
wait till you get to the back half, it really takes flight
@PsychoMELONZthey Said they’d add a secret item that works like the rusted sword in the demo
4 hours is insane.. in the best way
Raz's little discussion / "callout" at around 2:05:00 was so accurate.
Pine: *Dedicates a significant portion of his career to reviewing and highlighting small devs*
Small Devs: *includes a Pine based Easter egg*
Pine: "Oh I'm embarrassed." 😳
So wholesome!
This made me so unnaturally proud of our boy to see. Super good vibes from the indie souls like community!
ManlyBadassHero mentality
completely unrelated, but i love how youtube cut the message into the "read more" right on the emoji so it turned into the error symbol
Time stamp?
@Sobriquet0 24:56
Always a good sign when a games control scheme suggests the dev has never played a video game before
What, you don't push the Caps Lock, the 'G' key and '8' on the num-pad with one hand to crouch? What are you, a barbarian who uses Ctrl? *Snorts derisively*
I love it when you play with Shar. Her enthusiasm is infectious
The "Bareback Brothers" ended up becoming the basis of a tale about some horrible yokai amongst the people of the Sengoku period, I'd imagine.
That game looks so good
@louis559it REALLY does! And it being made by two people is INSANE
I had to skip that portion of the video because just from the first few minutes I knew i wanted to play it myself
@yourfriendtuskswhilst yes, you missed a banger section of the video, I fully support this choice, for you will adore all you’ll find in there, I think!
I'm already in love with Ratty Bug and Chicket. Merch when, dev?
The Bareback Bros live forever in our hearts.
I want to like your comment but right now it’s at 69 likes and I can’t break that
@Kittyy_cattyyI respect the conviction 🫡
The Nioh stuff with the Bareback brothers tm had me in stitches
razbuten and mr spleen need more air time on the channel. my face was getting sore from smiling and laughing through the whole nioh 3 section! lmao
Step aside Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King extended edition, a new sheriff is in town.
Man! That is high praise!
Step aside both of you: Mauler exists. You cannot surpass The Long.
"Is it a Souls-like ? Eeeh... Jenny the Witch, Zullie the Witch, something something..." is so far fetched but still checks out !
I love seeing Zullie getting mentions!
Jenny almost looks like an Armored Core like so close enough.
4 HOURS!? OK, GIVE ME THAT!
Lol
TONIGHT, WE FEAST!!
I personally love these longer videos and my favorite parts are seeing you play these weird esoteric games nobody has even heard of. I genuinely look forward to these. Keep it up man!
It's my sleepover, I get to decide the movie.
Ah, another Hbomb viewer
Devora's inventory is screaming 'The Forest' to me. Had a very similar 'tarp on the ground with all your weird gub in it' aesthetic for its inventory and crafting screen.
As soon as I saw it, I was like, "hey that's The Forest!" Neat.
You can tell Iron is a youngun; in Eternity Egg he didn’t recognize the audio screen as being a reference to Winamp/Windows Media Player skins from back in the day.
But why are Pine’s friends SO funny!?
This series is genuinely important. Not just to me, because I adore them, but to gaming in Current Year. You're doing something nobody else can do at this scale, and you uplift games that we would never give a first glance, let alone a second. In summary, the algorithm demands engagement, and I'm doing my part to get this into as many eyeballs as possible. Thank you, IP. Thank you.
honestly, at this point he has a lot of influence on the devs as well, it's great
this and credit the creators have been two of the best things I've seen to help smaller things get the recognition they deserve
27:40
That's the Jack-O pose. It's a meme from Guilty Gear from around 2020
There's also a Simpsons reference (Steamed clams)
The coin next to it is kinda making me think that this is a reference an Ultrakill animation that references the Jack-O pose
@JPAK_92 Steamed Clams? No, no. I said steamed hams! That's what I call hamburgers!
Old memes never die, the legend never ends.
Queens Domain is like going back in time and finding an unreleased fromsoft game, really kewl!
"Hmm it's been a while since the last steam dumpster diving, wonder if there's something going on..."
The double length feature film waiting behind the next corner:
Lol
mfer releasing a video longer than Ben-Hur lmao
Edit: It's even longer than Hamlet(96) lol. Perfect video to watch when eating for the next few days
This is literally me! I was just going back to these videos
i dont know dude it just seems to me like we got the same amount of wait time but double the video currently
@fentmaxxer2115 Pine tends to upload every 1 or 2 months, it's been almost 4 months since the last upload
4 GOD DAMNED HOURS? Papa Pineapple you treat us too well.
HOW MANY?!?!
Pine, i will literally watch anything you play. Please release the backlog!
Honestly I don't watch these for the souls-likes. I watch them for the "souls-likes". You know what I'm sayin.
you get it
Obey the insect god has loads of finnish epic Kalevala references. Sampo, tuonela, henki etc
@sogunuboschetHenki means spirit, so Kuuhenki is quite literally ’Moon spirit’
@NintendoNunthat tracks, thanks!
@sogunuboschet well, henki means spirit and kuuhenki is moon spirit. I don't remember kuuhenki from Kalevala, but it's pretty much just folklore
26:47 At this time of year, in this part of the country, localized entirely within this secluded cove!?
Thank you! I was looking for a reference
Yes!
1:57:26 Sounds like a bare back brother had a lot of genuine pent up stress accumulated for years just for this moment.
I’VE MISSED THESES SO MUCH THANK GOD YOU’RE BACK
I loved the range! Would absolutely adore seeing more types of games like this all the time. We all love Souls-Likes, but this series has moved beyond that scope, and that is not only okay, but part of what makes it so special.
7:26 Hunters do not normally employ shields, ineffectual against the strength of the beasts as they tend to be.
"Soft is Hard, soft is hard" - Peak wisdom
Poem of poems.
Just do a separate Steam Dumpster Diving series alongside the soulslike one. If you already have the footage it's a no-brainer. It's worth a shot. Just call it "I've played X non Souls-Like games you've never heard of" and go from there.
i second this
at this point his channel is large enough he could post him recycling cans at a grocery store and people would line up and tell him how great it is lol.
@andrzejnadgirl2029 no, im more on your side of it. Deviating from what made his channel work in the first place is super foolish
Yeah. Im sure steam has a ton great undiscovered games.
hearing the lain humming sound in the hovercraft one was perfect
Shar is so happy and present, I just love her energy 😭✨
17:00 insane design choice to put an enemy that takes 3.000001 hits to kill as the very first encounter, you hit it 3 times with the default weapon and it's left with 1 hp
it does mean that you dont have to fully charge to kill it in 4 hits
Devora should add a benefit to eating a boss; killing one of them and gaining extra health/damage after consuming an apex would be awesome
This 100%.
I was thinking the same thing. Think it would add a lot more
The absolutely jacked Mr Bean bit had me cackling
one of these days Pineapple's gonna release one of these videos being a week long and I'm here for it.
24 holy shit
I know you've made your brand as a souls-like reviewer, but genuinely, I'd watch you review anything you're interested in. I enjoy the weird little projects you surface and the very fair way you treat passion projects and small teams. I also think you give excellent playtesting feedback. Please consider doing a non-soulslike series!
I'd at least realy like to see the backlog of footage he mentioned. I feel like IP has such a good way with words and expressing opinions i'd love to see the other stuff too
These brothers will ALWAYS have your back.
Barely.
I think we watch this channel not only for soulslike man, its about good time with you
Real feedback - i dont care bout the souls like theme - i just want to see u play alll these cool indie games.
It's getting an offline version soon, pretty nice
Can't wait for Queens Domain. I recommend trying out The Last Faith as its like a blasphemous x blood borne spinoff or Felvidek which doesn't really fit the "souls-like" tag but is such an underrated gem based on 15th century Slovakia
Last Faith is a fuckin awesome game. I got it a while ago on PS5 out of pure curiosity and it absolutely slapped.
Yes bro love it. Love the length, the variaty in games, the coop shenanigans, the commentary and ur ability to pinpoint those obscure mechanics in games. I feel like i look at games and play them in a different way cause of you. Keep it up man one of the goats of yt en my eyes.
