- Joe "Frank" Ferguson on lead vocal, he switched off playing bass and singing with Joe Andrews, no idle time on the Bob Wills bandstand you know/Outstanding Bobby Koefer, Skeeter Elkin, Cotton Whittington
This is the way Country Music should be... Super!!!
Cotton plays left handed and he took a right handed guitar and flipped it around so that the strings would be in effect upside down! Obviously he is used to this because he plays amazingly! Thanks for the upload!!
I can't believe I found this. My grandparents had some of his 78's in their collection; I have them now (they're breakable), but I love to listen to them on occasion.
I had the pleasure to know Cotton Whittington here in Dallas. He played guitar left handed but it was strung right handed so he made up all his own chords. He was a Great player and a Great man.
Bob and his band could play anything. Jazz, dixieland, swing, all the popular music genres of the time period. Then they mixed them all together andgot Western Swing.
can't stop listening to this. "what is love but a prelude to sorrow?"
I didnt realize that BK was 80???
whoa-he still gets it
Amazing lap steel
His name was there, I just used too many characters so it was cut off after Cotton. I decided to trim down my commentary to fit in his entire name. Thank you for pointing that out, he was/is well loved indeed and a fine player. Thanks again.
@MutedStatic
Bobby is my hero! He just called me today!
@MutedStatic Thanks for a super comment!.....BK is the greatest!
exactly!
thank you
Five stars!!
Well now! I got here via Nina Simone's version, and well...I was surprised. Quite entertaining, in a surprising way. Music truly is a universal language.
@Sortsylic Sitting On Top Of The World appears to be of the same vintage and I believe the title of that one says MCMLI (1951).
Love it!
thanks for the great comment-
I don't have a video of Mr. Frerguson, but he lived two houses down from me in Ft. Worth and his daughter Judy and I were best friends. He used to take all of us kids to the snow cone stand in the back of his car(we called it "the Hearse"
I've lost touch with the daughter and if you know how to locate her, I would appreciate it.
Patsy
are you sure his daddy aint black? this rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not really a lap steel but most of Bob's steel men did play sitting down.
Isn't this Stevie Ralph Vaughn and Triple Trouble?
