Back in the 80s I got all my parts for my 68, then 69 charger rt out of the local junk yards. There was lots and lots of them, when pick a part first opened up in my area I wasn’t old enough to get in (had to be 18) I hated that I looked so young, waiting for the day I could get in! Bought my first car at 15 years old, 68 Charger, I worked as a mechanics helper all summer to get the $800 for it. The front right wheel bearing was gone, I can still remember when she pulled up and the wheel was wobbling about to fall off, all dark primer gray, she was beautiful 😍.
Scott and his friend Dean of ColdWarMotors here on RUclips restored an Edsel similar to this one. These cars have some unique electro-mechanical features that take dedication and time to get going again, but in the end getting one on the road again is quite a reward. Go for it!
That`s the beauty of stainless, no rust, that Edsel is cool, pretty straight car, it looks complete, you gotta do it, that would be a cool cruiser, Happy Holidays Chris.
There is a guy running around here, west side of Detroit, in the closest 'burbs. Last time i seen him was on Cherry Hill rd. In Westland. Its a green/white '58 2 dr. Post, running what i think is a 390 FE with a borg warner iron case 4 speed, Hurst shifter on the floor, probably a '57 chev bench seat style stick. Car was last seen sporting black steelies w/chrome lug nuts look. Dual 2 1/2in pipes coming straight out under the rear bumper with a nice mellow rumble. I tell ya' what, ive been a little jealous ever since seeing that car. A barrel of monkeys couldn't touch the fun one could have in this same car in the vid
Junkyard and country music 👍 I use to love walking through junkyards spending time just poking around but unfortunately they are far and few between here now , hell I don't even know where to find one that you're allowed to actually enter . Kinda depressing when ya think about it
Yeah, Chris. You're speaking my language! I love roaming around old boneyard, too! Depends where your at though. I went exploring an old Mopar yard down in southern Ohio this past spring. Besides having to keep an eye out for snakes, I ended up bringing home a deer tick. Fortunately, no Lyme disease. Stay safe!
Nothing wrong with that Edsel, never hurts to do something different. To bad private yards stay that way until the owner dies, then i tall gets scrapped. Lots of videos on yt of that. The song fits good, never heard that one before. Love the Hijacker sticker and the house carpet.
My wife has a complete rust free Montana life owned 59 Edsel ranger we are about to put a 351 Windsor in because the original v8 took a dump but we still have the original block laying around
The Edsel looks like it can be saved and rather complete. Get the old FE engine running! BTW, for the Mopar guys, FE stood for Ford, Edsel. MEL was the Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln mill
When I was a kid, we used to sneak into the local junk yard. We got chased out several times. We never busted stuff. We liked to look at cars. We sometimes played inside of them like we were at the racetrack. Sometimes we just walked around and looked at the wrecked ones and wondered how the people inside were after the wreck. They have u-pull places now where you pay money to get in and then you pull the parts you need and pay up when you leave. Most of the good classic cars have been turned to scrap metal where I live.
I would love to see the Edsel with a blower peeking through the hood. I would even leave it the Dusty Rose colour. Dusty Rose possible name? Also would love to see more on 68 GTO, working on one with my friend. I think we have replaced 95% of the sheet metal, but should be worth it in the end. Keep up the good work.
The Mopars looked rough, the GTO wasn't terrible but the Edsel looks solid. Would be interesting to get it going, hot rod it up and make a fast Edsel...just something you don't see often if at all.
oh boy a Charger, Challenger, GTO and a pink Edsel and i totally agree look at the stainless and no rot around the screen..Plus a teaser for the channel .Wot more could a petrol head want .😄👍
that Edsel is in Great shape and the thing that jumped out is already being noted out of Coldwar motors channel the teletype buttons in the column center are either all pushed in or missing and good on you for respecting their wishes on keeping their location private and can't wait to see the car you got out of there when it's time comes
Go for the Edsel! :D I have a 2 door Ranger Sedan here in Sweden ;) With a 500 hp 429 cui, with Edelbrock pro-flow 4 in it :) I have 2 videos on it here on youtube :) Only speaking Swedish , sorry :(
I'm looking forward to that Edsel. I do have a question though. Iwas away from your channel for a while and just got caught up. I haven't seen Daisy in a while. Will she be back on the channel soon ?
gotta do a pontiac I myself have 7 grand prix an 8 trans ams even love pontiac so much gotta pontiac emblem tattoo that's pure love when get it tattooed
I’ve got a 58 Edsel it’s in a lot worse shape than that one but has a 500 in something big block in it it’s pretty cool it came out of my grandpas junkyard which doesn’t exist now it went out of business in the late 80s and all the cars got crushed
Re the Edsel, the YT channel Cold War Motors restored a pretty good example over the last couple of years; that steering wheel gear selector was a pain to get working again. Might be worth watching a few of their Edsel episodes to give you an idea of what’s involved. Good luck with whatever you drag out of there.
Chris; Why is it that people who own junk yards don't want to be pestered about selling the the cars, isn't that the point of owning one to sell the cars ?
Cool cars. 68 70 chargers. I bet if some reproduced them as rollers with updated suspension etc or equipped with an LS or something they would sell like hotcakes like they did originally. Maybe after the USSA falls?
That Edsel is a very complete car, and looks pretty solid too. Looks like it's got all the Edsel specific parts, so I'd go for it.
Mental image of an Edsel done up as the General Lee...

I have a '70 in primer gray and I like it that way. People ask me "Are you going to paint it?" and I say "It's got paint on it."

We never got them in Australia so I'd have to take them all home and rebuild them. Old American engineering is fantastic .
If those cars could talk, imagine the stories they would tell. I'm diggin' it. More betters.
3 pedals and a big block is my favorite car 👍🇺🇸
That`s the beauty of stainless, no rust, that Edsel is cool, pretty straight car, it looks complete, you gotta do it, that would be a cool cruiser, Happy Holidays Chris.
that edsel is awesome. Love to see that video.
Each and every one of the cars would have one hell of a story.
Fabulous,, Amazing....for a french like me !
Thanks for this video......❤

Chris, you should definitely get the Edsel!
I can see the flat hood on the Challenger getting narfed pretty quick- and the instrument panel in that Charger is nicer than mine!

ITs hard to go wrong with a 58 Edsel Ranger.....or a Pacer like mine...
Found a Edsel Citation near my house, rusting away in the woods. Sad site

If you can get em,bring em back to life waiting for more build episodes

Was gonna say that. It would be easier to put a floor or column shifter in than deal with the unreliable push button crap.
Nice Edsel
I love Edsels
Save that gto!
I've always loved the ugliness of Edsel. Hell yeah!
Chris, Ive got a car you might be interested in. 56 Dodge Royal.?
