Classic DiResta
This Video first ran on the Rockler youtube channel in November of 2017
In this video I make 2 floating side tables from walnut and plywood. I build these in my old NYC shop and at the end of the Orignal video I installed them the wall of the shop to demonstrate them but at the very end of this video you can see where the tables are currently installed beside our bed
thank you to

the blade used on the drawer

the Spyke push stick...... love and respect for Spyke, the special cat .
Yeah I saw that also.
After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
Awesome video, Also my Daughter loves your show Making Fun...
My grandfather used to reinforce his joints the same way with a wood strip the entire length. He never had a biscuit cutter or anything so he just made it work like that. Very cool to see. Thanks!
OK .. that Rockler mortising stack is amazing for making 4 passes... and then just tack the drawer in place? That's a great product. Great work, Jimmy!
I think the credits go to Andrew Klein. ruclips.net/video/S074ke-EJ6U/видео.html
@@Karaon Yep. Watched and liked.
Not sure why I watch. The morticing stack probably cost more than all the tools in my shop I learned nothing from this. Unsubscribe.
@@paulbutchart5450 er... the dado set costs $300.00.. if your tools don't cost more than that collectively... you're doing it wrong.
I love watching your videos in an attempt to absorb some creativity. Beautiful work!
Also, major props to the engineer(s) that designed that saw blade. Coolest thing I've seen in a while.
Andrew Klein, you can find him here on YT. You're correct, he's brilliant 🤩
THE SARCASTIC JOCK HERE YOU HAD ME ON TIP TOES WHEN YOU PUT FHEM UP IN THE SHABBY SHED BUT A VERY GOOD OUTCOME IN THE END , LOVE FROM SCOTLAND CHEERS.
The chipmunks were busy talkers in this one! Beautiful pieces!
That's a really neat trick, cutting the 45 degree edges and putting a full length biscuit in the join.
I miss seeing Spike. RIP
Godfadda. Love the splines , old school and your mental planning in using them. You hve better shop drawers than most. LOL!
YT is full of these kind of builds ... but with Jimmy it not the destination, it's the journey ... Amazing.
I love all the full length splines in this.
Very cool walk down memory lane here. Shot in at least three different shops, including the old basement shop? Still a great build. Thanks for sharing!
thats what i was wondering, is it the NYC Basement?
Flippin yummy. Your accuracy is unreal!
Thanks for new video....and Happy Birthday James.
Took me a while to realize you were in the old shop, it's so nice seeing you work in the big one now
I love this build. Classic Diresta!
Wow didn’t realize the old shop really bring a whole different vibe to the videos! 👏🏼 beautiful work!
That’s badass dude… They look great!! I can’t hang my kids school lunch menu straight on the fridge, lol. Awesome video.
The god of NY and a bedside story... One of the best.
Amazing, Jimmy! Fantastic work! 😃
I never saw that kind of saw blade stack! It's brilliant!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
looking forward to see jimmy and john diresta tandem working together for future video!
I love the sound effects.
4/9/22; just watched u make those 2 floating side tables with soft-close drawers. Beautiful work Jimmy! 45°mitered edges with Walnut(?) splines...oh yeah! ..when I watch u do this level of craftsman ship, I think back when I watched 'ole Norm Abrham at NYWS...Both you guys are wonderful woodwork, furniture artists! Glad Rockler is teaming-up with you...they have lots of very nice tools for you to use & display to all us YT viewers 👍👍👍👍😊🛠
It’s tempting to write “first” but I’ll resist and say thanks for sharing Jimmy.
And folks beat you to it.
Try writing fourth instead 🙂
I think the original posting of this video was one of the first DiResta RUclipss I ever saw, and I still watched it all the way through. Still good stuff!
I made the exact same night stands about a year ago. I can't believe these are identical. I love them!!!
your creativity and skill is second to none! And that stacked blade that cut the dado and mitre all in one pass was really cool.
Mr. Diresta dropping knowledge for the uninitiated.
Tyvm
Have a sub
Also, TOT has been name dropping you for YEARS and I finally found you.
I miss Spike 😸
I see a Jimmy video, I hit like.
Today I learned that a planer thicknesser sounds like a radio being tuned in when sped up
These look amazing!!
Yes!!! Now this is what I call old skool Diresta. LOVE IT.
Glad I rewatched! Some good techniques I had forgotten you used. Nice build!
Great floating look to them, so much more attractive than on a base & much more useable space below. Thanks for sharing!
This has the old ny city workshop video feel. I feel like im watching a video from 8 years ago! Great job man
it *is* an old ny city workshop video (this is a repost from 2017)
Love the inclusion of the knot hole! Didn't realize Rockler had a stack like that. Guess I'll be heading to the Rockler store this afternoon lol. Great tables Jimmy!
They are simply gorgeous! Love the design and build!
DiResta, как всегда, Молодец, профессионал, золотые руки!!! Спасибо за Вашу работу!
I'm always impressed by the different joinery styles. Custom dado blade... your killing me!! So cool and inventive. I'm seriously jealous!
Why did I stop breathing while I was watching this? :-0 Absolutely amazing how everything comes together - thanks for sharing and giving us hope that one day we can do something vaguely similar! ;-)
A piece of art. I mean: two. Brilliant, and precise work, love it!
love the floating Total Boat sponsorship over the competitors epoxy 8-)
Took me awhile to realize that this was in your old shop,I guess DIRESTA CLASSIC should have tipped me off, thanks for the video.🤗😎🤗😎
So nice drawers
It's a good way to start the day, the wood is so beautiful
Beautiful Jimmy, just beautiful.

Gostei. Vou fazer parecida quando tiver um feriado prolongado e dar de presente para minhas filhas. Obrigado pelo ensinamento. Sempre aproveito técnicas suas. Abraço do 🇧🇷.

I like this style of video!
Amazing wood-work!
I got scared when I saw gloves at the beginning… but it was only for the collecting-from-the-shelf-time. He just continued with no gloves using the most dangerous tools 🤣🤣🤣 Diresta we like! ♥️
Very nice! Clean look and simple to make. I see that your pushy cat made an appearance. Cool!
Hi Jimmy beautiful job well done

So many tips and tricks in this video man, nice work as always!
Intense Jimmy! Love these! Kudos!
Well I think I have to help Rockler with reducing their Dado inventory by one more... I don't need the money.... 😂!
I love it!
Must've been annoying having that camera person wondering around, especially in the tight spaces of the old shop. Thanks for reposting this. Thumbs up as usual!
Extremely nicely done with an excellent result! ;)
Greetz from Germany!
Awesome...👏👍
13:11 Jesus wept, for a second I thought Tiddles was off to meet his maker.. beautiful workmanship.
Interesting methods of joining corners!
Mega stuff Jimmy !! As usual!!
Very nice
Great work on those floating side tables Jimmy! I always learn a little something from watching your video builds. Hope that you are doing well. 👍👍
Awesome precision! The only thing missing is a secret compartment for a "freedom dispenser."
Friggen awesome! 👍
Ok, that 8:33 was extremely satisfying to watch. Nerd!
Anyway, with this project you gave me a good idea, thanks Jimmy!
Good times in the basement cave!
Looks great. Nice job.
Hopefully your trip this week was successful. 👊👊
3:20 when I used an old Sriracha bottle it made my glue smell like garlic.
Also love the splines, I want to give that a try.
Nice!
Vey Nice !
That sound of that planer at ×5 speed totally gave me ptsd about my last dentist visit.
MUY BIEN.....GRACIAS
Awesome
Another top notch job, as always. You always make cool and interesting projects.
How about some more videos on your vehicles? Maybe the hearse, or the Harley, or whatever?
Thanks Jimmy. 👍

Wonderful dado stack Jimmy VERY ORIGINAL really !! In Europe we cannot use the dado blades for security reasons the saws are builded with shorts shafts..so no way ☹️
Beautingfull!!
you, adam savage, pete brown and path of fire should make something epic together, that would be awesome!
