SAME!!!! They didn't even TRY to defend him. They were just hoping the prosecution wouldn't meet their burden of proof. They didn't even lay an ounce of reasonable doubt. Didn't even attempt to!
The defense attorney's had no real connection with their client. No touching, hugging or pat on the shoulder. They hardly looked at him. He probably creeped them out.
Wow I thought I missed something with the defenses witnesses. They had nothing to fight because the Prosecution nocked this trial out the box with evidence
I have watched the entire court case from beginning thru sentencing. I am profoundly moved by the way in which Judge Hyland conducted these proceedings. I admire his upholding of the law, but with a compassion and empathy that is truly remarkable. Please thank him for me, if you are able to do so.
This judge is seriously amazing. He's thorough, articulate, very easy to listen to and he's got a very caring and understanding personality. Well done sir!
The doctor who examined him in the hospital after his “fall” testified in court… He nearly laughed when he was asked about some of the injuries Chandler claimed to have-there was no point for another doctor.😅
I agree. everyone was putting down the defense but how would you like to have that as a case to fight? All in All I think EVERYONE did very well and should be proud of the work they have done.
A great defense team? They didn't even TRY to defend him! They started the trial by saying he DID NOT murder his parents, however, they put forth ZERO evidence, ZERO witnesses, ZERO reasonable doubt. They barely did any cross expiration. They had next to no objections. Their job (which our tax dollars pay for) was to put forth a DEFENSE for their client. They did as close to nothing as they possibly could. And the unfortunate thing is that Chandler will probably use inadequate representation as a reason to beg for appeal after appeal.
Judge Hyland, wish you had a RUclips channel! Will miss you after 3 days in all watching this trial. I could not believe defense just rested, I know they had nothing to go on but geeesh, did nothing!?! Prosecutors were awesome, the best I’ve seen. So many details, research, etc. congratulations! Glad he is locked up for a long time! ❤️
He's not only guilty but he's a brazen liar who never went to school nor did he ever work. You shoulda listened when your dad said get yo lazy butt up and get a J O B
At 1:40 why is he saying that the alternate jurors' notebooks will be destroyed? If a deliberating juror needs to be replaced with an alternate, wouldn't the alternate need his/her notes, just the same as the original juror would?
@@peapotfairy OK. And a deliberating juror can be replaced by an alternate right up to the time that they reach a verdict, correct? For example, if a deliberating juror simply refused to vote.
@@jerrysmith5782 a deliberating juror cannot refuse to vote and I am not aware of a case where that has been an issue. Typically if there is a rogue juror it manifests as one juror voting the opposite of the rest. That is what is called a "hung jury" and no alternates are needed. In criminal proceedings hung juries are usually retried. An alternate would be needed if a deliberating juror got sick or did something improper like research the case or talk to someone about the trial/deliberations.
@@jerrysmith5782 but yes, the alternates remain under the same court admonitions as the rest of the jury and need to be available for recall up until the time a verdict is reached. If an alternate is rotated in the deliberations are supposed to start all over. Even if they had already been deliberating for a week.
@@peapotfairy I was a finalist for jury duty a couple of months ago, but when I informed the judge that I might refuse to vote (in an attempt to intentionally hang the jury), I was dismissed. In California, if a juror refuses to vote, it is contempt of court with up to 6 months in jail. I knew that if I refused to vote I would just be replaced by an alternate, but at least I would have TRIED to hang the jury. The scenario where I would refuse to vote would be if there were 11 not guilty votes and I didn't want to give the defendant Double Jeopardy protection by us finding the defendant innocent. In England, the prosecution can appeal a not guilty verdict based upon "new in compelling evidence", but unfortunately in the United States this is not an option. So if you find a defendant not guilty in the United States he can never be retried for the same crime even with new and compelling evidence. I wouldn't want to put an innocent person in jail, but I equally wouldn't want to free a monster onto society with a lifetime "get out of jail free" card. I definitely got the feeling that the judge was sympathetic to my position...he thanked me for handling it discreetly, and politely dismissed me. The crime was multiple rapes with every variation you can possibly think of...over 40 counts.
Judge Hyland could easily get a job narrating for some true crime channel on RUclips when he retires. I could listen to him read jury instructions all day long 😊❤
My jaw actually dropped when the defense rested their case IMMEDIATELY after the prosecution.
SAME!!!! They didn't even TRY to defend him. They were just hoping the prosecution wouldn't meet their burden of proof. They didn't even lay an ounce of reasonable doubt. Didn't even attempt to!
“Defense is asking you to find a verdict of not guilty…The last lie of Chandler Halderson…” 💪🏼strong work prosecutor!! That line gave me chills.
Yeah that was good
I’m gonna miss this judge I’ve sat through this whole trial and he has been exceptional throughout!
The defense attorney's had no real connection with their client. No touching, hugging or pat on the shoulder. They hardly looked at him. He probably creeped them out.
the defense was resting the whole time
Lol facts. They cared every bit as much as their client.
I wish every judge was just like this one. So professional, calm, kind and without any hint of pretentiousness.
Wow I thought I missed something with the defenses witnesses. They had nothing to fight because the Prosecution nocked this trial out the box with evidence
I think the defense attorneys took the right to remain silent a little too far…
It's going to be hard to watch another trial with a different judge. I am now biased about the judges I watch, lol
This judge is so incredibly well spoken ❤️ Definitely spoiled us✌️ Sir,you should narrate stories!!

Wow I’ve never seen a defense not have witnesses.
With all the evidence who would stand up for him ?
This judge is seriously amazing. He's thorough, articulate, very easy to listen to and he's got a very caring and understanding personality. Well done sir!
I was totally expecting the defence to have a Dr testify regarding his concussion or something..... But nothing!! I wasn't expecting that!!!!

I absolutely love this judge 👍🏼👍🏼
Yes. He should be elevated to the Supreme Court.
So unbelievably genuine, intelligent, well-spoken, relatable, empathetic, dedicated, and fair. An actual 7-leaf clover.
Great Judge! Decent Defence Lawyers, great respect for them! State Lawyers did very...very...well!!! Great Witnesses! Justice will be done👍🏼🙌🏽
I agree. everyone was putting down the defense but how would you like to have that as a case to fight? All in All I think EVERYONE did very well and should be proud of the work they have done.
Exactly! I feel for them! I bet they drew straws to see who would have to sit by that guy HOLDING A SHARP PEN!!!

This is a good defense considering the prosecution had it made in the shade drinking lemonade

Hopefully he will get hard labor in prison. He should.
Ok was watching closing statements and the video went private what happened
No defense? So why not a plea deal?
Why would the District Attorney offer reduction in charges or sentences in this case?
At 1:40 why is he saying that the alternate jurors' notebooks will be destroyed? If a deliberating juror needs to be replaced with an alternate, wouldn't the alternate need his/her notes, just the same as the original juror would?
They are held at the courthouse and destroyed after the verdict.
