Explaining The Perfect Elden Ring Speedrun [TAS]

  • Elden Ring is FromSoftware's biggest game, yet, it is possible to finish it in just under 3 minutes. How? This video explains a spectacular tool-assisted speedrun world record performed by the player ViRazY in great detail. It covers everything from the game-breaking Zipping and Force Quit Wrong Warp glitches all the way to the smallest differences between jumping and sprinting speeds.
    This tool-assisted speedrun uses perfectly planned sequences of inputs to complete several segments with frame-perfect precision, impossible for humans. It is a showcase of a theoretical perfect gameplay and displays how broken Elden Ring truly can be.
    Special shoutouts to everyone who made this speedrun possible. Blade, ModerateChaos and smelty for testing the Zipping Glitch and HYP3RSOMNIAC and seeker for their routing, and of course, ViRazY for allowing me to cover his incredible speedrun.
    Many thanks also go to Cadarev and rythin for their valuable feedback during this video's production.

      Very well done! So satisfying to see Elden Ring "shattered". After all those bosses have done to players, it's nice to seen them manipulated so extremely

    I find it hilarious imagining the tarnished running from Hoarah Loux in the last phase of the run, like he’s desperately trying to stop you. Amazing informative video as always!

    • @draghettis6524
      @draghettis6524 10 месяцев назад +40

      In the RTA speedruns, at least the old ones, the strat used at that point is letting yourself be caught and pilebombed ( I think that's the name of the move, it's the one where after the grab he jumps vertically with you ) by Hoarah Loux, because the timing is so that the God Felled message appears while you are dying. It doesn't even matter that he tries to stop us, for he is the one to send us to the platform

    • @catalystz
      @catalystz  10 месяцев назад +42

      That is correct! It is much more difficult to time a quitout for a human without it wasting time, so simply letting yourself get "powerbombed" ended up being the consistent strategy that does not even lose that much time (like 1s).

    • @Solibrae
      @Solibrae 4 месяца назад +2

      I'm not sure if Hoarah Loux, WARRIOR, would approve of becoming Elden Lord in this manner. There's not much strength displayed at all! ;)

    I think the amazing thing about this isn't what the TAS does, it's that humans are only 75 seconds behind. With how precise everything is, that's what's crazy to me.

    • @catalystz
      @catalystz  10 месяцев назад +53

      That is true! Both HYP3RSOMNIAC and seeker put quite a bit of effort into their Any% Unrestricted runs and pushed it all the way to the limit of human ability and fun.

    Also on around 14:00 you could mention that since we are gonna travel very long distance in very short period of time, even a slightly misaligned facing could lead to zipping be deflected way further than the point we wanted to go.

    I'm not sure if it's still doable on the current patch but you could actually abuse the deloading map glitch on the Commander Naill boss fight by jumping off the cliff to the left of the Fort, you needed to be riding Torrent and use his double jump as a normal player jump is too short to get past the kill box. Good to know this is technically feasible in other areas.

    Awesome job, watching these explanation videos is always a pleasure! I was wondering, is it possible to zip in any Dark Souls game? If not, what is the difference with respect to ER? I'm asking this because as far as understood the glitch is tied to framerate and animations, which are similar (if not equal) to the ones of the other souls games. Probably it would be impossible in DS1 PTD due to 30 fps, but what about the other games?

    Imagine this speedrun from the POV of the bosses. Godrick in his garden sees the tarnished fly across the sky. Then Maliketh sees him in his roof and the disappear and he starts falling because his arena vanished. Horah Loux just goes into 2nd phase even without knowing anything (the tree wasn't burned, Morgott didn't die, the tarnished didn't enter his arena) and the without touching him the elden beast dies and without any skill and violence a new Elden Lord rules over the lands between
