One advantage to the mezzaluna (rocker knife) is that it can be used for a variety of things. If they are sharp and heavy enough, and if you have a good enough chopping board, they are really good at chopping certain things finely, which is why they are commonly used in Italian pizza restaurants.

Pizza hut has been using the rocker cutter for YEARS! I work at one for 2 1/2 years. Faster and easier than the regular ones that *cough* little ceasars use!

When I worked at Pizza Hut in high school (yearssss ago), we used the rocker pizza knife because faster and easier to sanitize. The one we used had a solid wood handle that ran the length of the blade and about 5lbs that aided in downward cutting force. Speed was and still is key when you are bombarded by hungry teens on a Friday and Saturday night. I know for sure that Little Caesar's in my area uses the cutting wheel that's about 5in in diameter and about 2lbs. I'll always go back to the knife because you will always get a straight cut with very little effort. You can do the same with a wheel but you have to concentrate some to get a straight cut. But im only speaking on mass production assembly line term where cuts "should" matter. Great review as always Mr. J.W. 🤙

Also, it seems more stable than a traditional pizza cutter! The scissors are my second pick but I’d save the money and use my regular kitchen shears. Great video!

But I cut hundreds of pizzas so fancy is not an option for cutters. Great video though. That rosle looks like it would be useful for more than pizza cutting. Great idea to rank pizza cutters. Nicely articulated (what can you say about PIZZA CUTTERS!)? I've had 2 or 3 of those, I'm gonna go buy me Scizza! it's probably called Seat-za, as in Pizza.
I am in the mood for a five dollar pizza now. That doesn't happen often. I don't know why I rewatched this video again some 8 months later. I guess for the same reason I rewatched the ice cube/tray challenge again. Love and happiness is what we find here!
A lot of the fancy pizza places around here use the scizza to cut and serve single slices. The industrial curved knife design works well, but for home use, a large chef knife does just as well.
Bought a $3 pizza cutter from a dollar type store a couple of years ago. Stainless steel cuts clean in one roll. Circle blade in only 2inches. Its all about applying pressure when slicing I think. I've used the dullest pizza slicer and get clean cuts.
I deliver pizzas part-time (used to make pizzas too!) and that rocker-style cutter is what we style, and fairly industry-standard. Most kitchens will have a much thicker and heavier blade and we slam into the pie from one end to the other in one fell swoop for each slice. I don't know if I would slam into a pizza on a blade that thin, though.
Please *never* stop doing these quirky product reviews! They're fun, succinct, yet informative. I'll watch until the end of the channel, and then some. Thank you for your dedication and as always.. Cheers, Don.
that was fun to watch for my tops were the rocker for it just looks like a manly cutting tool that is a eye catcher , and the Rosle pizza wheel for just being a little more traditional but very efficient .. great review and thanks for showing the star trek for i never notice the engraving it has with other pics i have seen of it
Where was the blade located on the bicycle pizza? Front wheel or back wheel? If it was the back wheel that may have been the reason it did not cut well as you were applying all your pressure to the front wheel...
SET PHASERS TO PIZZA!!! I got a rocking cutter for about $3 at a dollar store.. it's a 16" cutter, with a rolled edge, and takes little space in my drawer. I typically put it on the bottom, with the handle at the side, and other utensils go on top of it.
whats with the little back and forth motion you do with the wheel cutters? a decent wheel should be able to easily slice through a pizza in one stroke across - also, leaving cardboard underneath is probably impacting how well they work
That's about how I would have ranked them, too. Also surprised about how well the scissors worked. When I eat pizza with a fork, I use the side of the fork to cut it.
I feel like it heavily depends on the sharpness of the blade vs the design of the product. The bike would work if it had a better grip and much sharper blades. Only one I'm baffled about design wise is the fork one.
Is he would have used the back wheel on the bicycle one it might have worked better. The solid back wheel looked more like a pizza cutter than the frint spoked wheel did. But yes the fork one...nope
Best pizza chain out there in my opinion, the 3 meat treat is such a delicacy if you ask me. Oh and the bacon wrapped deep deep dish is great to. I don't remember his name, but the founder deserves the Nobel prize. They're actually responsible for the conveyor pizza oven which has been a game changer in the pizza chain market.
I actually severed my little finger & the side of my hand on a #10 can long ago. So I was DEFINITELY feeling your anxiety about the most expensive cutter with the safety shield thing. Subscribing, btw! Facts are my thing & they’re getting harder to come by every day. Thank you!
you can use kitchen shears to cut pizza. Have you tried ZYLISS Pizza Cutter Wheel and Slicer Pizza Cutter Wheel and Slicer can also be used to cut pie dough to make lattice strips, cut crust off bread, cut tortilla into strips, ravioli cutter, mini marshmallow maker by cutting regular size marshmallow, grape splitter, herb chopper, quesadilla slicer, biscuit cutter to make monkey bread, dessert divider - cutting up brownies or fudge
I have the Starship Enterprise pizza cutter that my wife got me for my birthday. I used it once. It's sort of awkward to hold. I keep thinking my grip is going to break off the warp nacelles, so I decided to keep it as a collector's piece. It's one of those things I hate to damage by using all the time. And I love Little Caesars. It's always been one of my favorite pizza chains.
I have always used scissors for cutting pizza and I am 63 years old. My Mom did it that way also. I use those inexpensive multi-scissors - like you can get at The dollar store and they work great.
That pizza made me hangry. Little Caesars isn't the quality that use to be in the '90's, but it's still a good pizza. Little Caesars's Crazy Bread is one of life's guilty pleasures.
About the bicycle pizza cutter, having two contact points means the pressure is divided in half between each wheel. To get the same cutting power you would need to press twice as hard as a result.
1:30 That's the closest to what I have in my kitchen. I bought mine in the late 1970s after working in a pizza shop. Mine has two wooden handles that stick out on the ends.
My pizza cutter is the Tojiro Big Almighty Knife. It's a big melon knife, but it works great as a pizza cutter. I like multitaskers, and who can complain about having an awesome big ass knife? Plus, with the standard handle, it looks much easier to clean and sharpen than the rocker style cutters.
I'd put the wheel as number one if you just purely want a pizza cutter. It doesn't take up much drawer space, it's lightning quick, and it's easy to use. At the end of the day the giant blade takes up a huge amount of kitchen space, and didn't cut as well. And the scissors, while they cut really good and could serve, you're gonna end up hating having to chop chop chop for a minute just to get the slices. It almost reverses the whole point of a pizza slicer which is to save you a bunch of time.
Scissors are great for pizza. I learned that as a kid; in the school cafeteria they used these big offset (dressmaker's?) shears to cut the pizza and it blew my little mind.
There's a handful of pizza places around where I live - Dominos, Via Napoli, Crust and Bravo being the main four. I personally always go for Dominos, due to their home delivery being the most reliable (UberEats is ridiculously awful, as my brother and mother have discovered), being the cheapest of them (~AU$20 for a Meatlovers, $15 with a coupon; Via Napoli is in the low-20s range; Crust is $23-25), not taking forever to arrive, having the best sides, and having the best customisation options (I can't stand tomato, so that automatically rules out the 'traditional Italian' places). Dominos is king. Barbecue sauce pizza, being able to add pineapple or mushroom and remove onions and olives, the coupons being great, and being able to get chicken tenders with spicy barbecue sauce for under $30. Delicious.
#2 was similar to the cutters I've seen being used at pizza places (f.ex., Sbarro's and the local Casey's convenience store). I'll have to look into the Scizza, though; my spouse and son are both big pizza eaters, so a good-quality pizza cutter is a must at our house.

never thought i'd watch a 15 minute video reviewing different pizza cutters but here i am
The Scizza will not be ideal for hot fresh from the oven as you will have to hold the pizza to cut it.
If the pizza is in the box then you could cut it without touching it as it wont slide.
@@common_c3nts ya but pizzas come cut
@@hussainkhuraibet2220 Different strokes and all that... Where I live I've never had a pizza delivered precut, except from Pizza Hut...
😂😂😂 One minute, my man was chillin 12:00 the next, he's delivering pizzas 😅😅😅
Please *never* stop doing these quirky product reviews! They're fun, succinct, yet informative. I'll watch until the end of the channel, and then some. Thank you for your dedication and as always.. Cheers, Don.
I have hand problems and have a wheel one that cleans great in the dishwasher. Love it.
that was fun to watch for my tops were the rocker for it just looks like a manly cutting tool that is a eye catcher , and the Rosle pizza wheel for just being a little more traditional but very efficient .. great review and thanks for showing the star trek for i never notice the engraving it has with other pics i have seen of it
Great test for soft crust. How do they work for the really crunchy frozen pizza crusts.
The long blade remained me of a mezzaluna from Italy or a bet’leth from Star Trek
whats with the little back and forth motion you do with the wheel cutters? a decent wheel should be able to easily slice through a pizza in one stroke across - also, leaving cardboard underneath is probably impacting how well they work
That's about how I would have ranked them, too.
When the Star Trek one didn't work that well were you tempted to...
"Khan!!!!" 😵
The bike was so cute! I’m disappointed it didn’t work. Thanks for trying it out for me!
I have one similar to that rocker design from of all companies Char-Broil. I actually rather until using it it's pretty effective.
Have you tried ZYLISS Pizza Cutter Wheel and Slicer
Pizza Cutter Wheel and Slicer can also be used to cut pie dough to make lattice strips, cut crust off bread, cut tortilla into strips, ravioli cutter, mini marshmallow maker by cutting regular size marshmallow, grape splitter, herb chopper, quesadilla slicer, biscuit cutter to make monkey bread, dessert divider - cutting up brownies or fudge
I wish you would have thrown a regular chef's knife into the mix.
Bro i love your honesty.
Delicious.
The rocker/metzaluna can cut cheesecake and stuff like that too. If you run under hot water between slices using for cutting cheesecake it's amazing.
Witch pizza cutter about sliced your finger off? I noticed you had a bandaid at the end of the video.
the star trek one looks good, cuts good but it looks like sauce/food will get stuck in the back part. might be hard to clean.
It is.
#2 was similar to the cutters I've seen being used at pizza places (f.ex., Sbarro's and the local Casey's convenience store). I'll have to look into the Scizza, though; my spouse and son are both big pizza eaters, so a good-quality pizza cutter is a must at our house.
I thought at first, no way on the pizza scissor cutter, pretty impressive, love the Channel! Keep up the great review's!
