Perfect! I bought a used rod at a flea market yesterday. It had a broken tip and the price was dirt cheap. Your repair instructions make the necessary fix look easy. A heartfelt thank you for sharing.
Awesome video. Found my ultra light rod (I've had for years) tip broken after getting home yesterday... Glad I looked this up instead of retiring the old reliable stick!!!
Oh--KAY, this may be 10 years old but this instructional video is great for any year. My grandson broke a favorite small-gamefish Ugly Stik rod tip a couple of years ago, and of course I bought a new rod to save my Zebco 33. THEN I thought I broke my reel, and bought a new one. Of course, on another RUclips video I learned how to fix my reel, but no rod to fit it. My neighborhood Dick's Sporting Goods sold me an Eagle Claw (maker of hooks) Rod Tip Repair Kit just like the one you used here by Berkley. BRILLIANT! I'm not the handiest man in the world, but even I figured out how to replace that rod tip without burning myself or anything else, and I never dripped any of that glue on any unwanted surface. Damn! It was so easy following your instructions. Thanks, my savior Mr. Wired2Fish.
was at Walmart and the rod I wanted had the tip broken off (naturally was the last one). I brought it up to the cashier and ended up getting it for free. It's a few inches shorter, but in useable condition. Sweeet!
I feel ya, i have a limited edition rod, only 100 were made, its my go-to trout rod but of course i broke the tip in my truck door somehow, i will do this method to keep it going!
Great to find out a repair kit exists. I've got a nice graphite rod with the tip that got caught on the car door. Been real bummed about it. Now time to find the kit on prime. Not sure if it would be a good idea to just shorten the rod up to the next guide hole, since different size tips exist; I could use the shorter length rod. I'm just not sure how much that would affect the mechanics/bendability of the tip end.
I was looking on solution how to join broken parts together not how to use what is left of broken rod. I figured out how to use leftovers by adding front ring when I was 12 years old.
TheMemeSquadYTp's 100$ for a bait caster? I’m not professional at fishing in-fact I’m 14 and have been fishing for only a year and I think it’s better to buy a good quality spinning rod and reel than a cheap bait caster because in my country bait casters the decent quality ones cost about 250$ and the best spinning reels cost about 100-200$ the ones that can catch sharks tho as I said I might be wrong
why would you do that? I've broken several rod tips and I normally just use the file on my leatherman to file down the little piece to the next guide down (losing a couple inches) and then that's it...
If you only broke the tip the rod will not necessarily be weaker, I'd say that the rod might be stiffer since shorter than it was, the action will be a little different. :)
My rod snapped just above the second to last guide. If I just glue a new guide tip on the existing end, I feel like the action won't be right, because I'd be excluding about 8 inches of rod from the equation. You have a video of how to fix the skinniest part of fiberglass rod, without ruining it? Or anyone know what I should look into, or do?
@@PlusTheSkim not an option. Life has been interesting lately. Can't afford a new one. Lol. It's also my favorite pole. Got the most fish with it. It was only a $60 pole. Haha!
@@redeyestones3738 I feel you! I saw one method of a guy clipping a nail at both ends, and inserting them inside of the rod and coating it with some sort of cement glue. Won’t be perfect but if you have all the pieces of the broken rod you can definitely bring it back to life that way
@@PlusTheSkim ya, I saw that video as well. That's what I'm probably going to end up doing. I've been hesitant, because it's right where the rod goes from carbon to regular fiberglass, which has a much thinner wall thickness, so it's the most flexible part of the rod. I worry that if I use something too rigid inside like a nail, it might snap at the end of the nail.
Just did this. I used a lighter to remove the left over blank and melted any glue left inside the metal tip. The reglued the metal tip back on the rod!
just snapped about 5 lnch of my rod tip ,; i panicked and instanly ordered a new rod , then found this soloution for a couple of pounds . Gutted , i will have to buy another reel now lol
You should have first heated up the old tip off the broken end and removed it to see if it would fit on the new end. There’s a very good chance it would have. And you would have had the original tip instead of that big clunky new one.
The rod tips strength is already compromised after it snaps. Why not just cut it down to the next eye and glue the cavity. if the eye's aren't far apart just deal with the rod being shorter. If it's a nice rod it should have some sort of warranty to send it in.
or you can just pull out the little part of the broken pole out of the top tip with some pliers and take that tip and glue it on the top of your pole with some super glue and it wont cost you anything except the glue, but i already had glue laying around so ya.

thanks! The rod Ive used all my life broke in the car. It was sentimental as my grand father gave me it a long time ago. Glad I can keep using it!
Good deal! Yeah we've salvaged a bunch of rods with tip replacement and guide replacement.
I have the same situation

Fuckin hell this just happened to me. Rods just going to be a bit stiffer. Mine basically went from ultra light to light.
Thanks This helped out a lot. The food maybe a little shorter but it beats buying a new one.
oh me goodness! needed this video loooooong time ago. glad I found it. Thanks for a great video and thorough instruction!
I’m glad this is so easy! I just broke the tip on my favorite rod 😭
Thank you.I had a broken tip and first video I watched of how to repair and ordered the kit online and.It work perfectly.
Do the last two guides being so close , affect castabilty ?
This video was awesome. I'm about to go buy the rod tip repair kit
I was looking on solution how to join broken parts together not how to use what is left of broken rod. I figured out how to use leftovers by adding front ring when I was 12 years old.
haha yes
Google, see what people did. This late, but you could use cement then need to brace the spot
In the Texas weather that glue well melt again and detach ur rod tip. I had JBL weld laying around and that did the job.
I broke my tip yesterday and a looked this up on here. Good as new. Now I have and SBR. (Short Barreled Rod) lol
New to fishing and the ring inside my tip top some how is floating around loosely. I think this video is the solution so thank you so much.
I know how to replace a rod tip. I was looking for REPAIRING one that is broken about halfway between the last two eyes. Any idea on that? Thanks.
Your video just saved me! Thank you so much!!
thank you so much im 12 my $100 baitcatsing rod that ive saved up for so long to get broke and now i think i can fix it!!!

Easy money. Thank you
I'm glad I saw this video because I was literally gonna buy a new rod
same
I didn't see this and I bought a new rod

Matt McNicholas that’s what i was thinking about doing, does that way work well?
Can I used the piece that broke off?
Will the glue last and does the rod becomes weaker with this method?
If you only broke the tip the rod will not necessarily be weaker, I'd say that the rod might be stiffer since shorter than it was, the action will be a little different. :)
nice master

At that point I’d just get a new rod. Unless it’s a g loomis, bite the bullet

Thanks for the vid
You're welcome, Nicholas. Hope you found it useful!
what if the ceramic has just fell out what should I do then?
Any disadvantages to cutting down to the next eye? And using it
Good question
is the glue included in the package ?
Yes usually. You can buy just tips but they make all in one kits that have multiple sized guides with the glue.
thehegt Tr - yes, both in the Berkely kit and the kits that Walmart sells.
Is there no way to attach te broken tip back to the rod? Like stick a thin pin inside both parts, then glue it, attach and maybe tape it around?
Just did this. I used a lighter to remove the left over blank and melted any glue left inside the metal tip. The reglued the metal tip back on the rod!
I did this but the pin just snapped
Ayos yan lods ..
Thank you I was about to buy a new one.
nice
thank you.💪👍
Why can’t you remove the tip with heat off the broken pice and use it ?
Awesome. Thanks for the video. You look wasted👍🏼
I swear it’s like I’m the hulk or something when it comes to snapping my fishing rods.
no help
Is there any way I can get the whole piece back on?
SkillRex probably not. since the actual tip is so skinny, it would break under relatively little tension if put back on rod fully
Dang it!
Thx
Hope it helped some! Merry Christmas.
but now the rod is 3 inches shorter...
Better accuracy 🤣
Ok
And it's lost a fair bit of the action it had.
just snapped about 5 lnch of my rod tip ,; i panicked and instanly ordered a new rod , then found this soloution for a couple of pounds . Gutted , i will have to buy another reel now lol
this is like painting your skin with the color of your pants to "repair" the hole
How so?
I've caught several fish with my "repaired" tip. Worked well for me, mein Herr
Just the Tip?

Any just small tips ? Never use the bigger ones. Wasteful
I just used some Elmer's hot glue and boom perf
Or you can just use Super Glue like I did.
Ok oggi le ho testate ed ecco il risultato 8kg x 145 centimetri
They wanted to charge me 40 bucks to do two of them
I just used a hot glue gun and put it on the tip of my rod
The action will be gone if you break the top of the rod ..😊😊..better buy a new one ...
"repairing"
time to buy a new rod when it breaks like that
🤣🤣🤣
This is not repair. The real repair is to join broken parts together.
