This is the best live version I have ever heard, admitting I haven't listened to ABM with this yet. 13:05 I am getting the sense that he is quoting Debussy's _"Claire De Lune"_ here. _P.S.: I _*_have_*_ meanwhile heard two versions by ABM and they don't get anywhere near Pogo. The only version I know that remotely gets close to Pogo (and all of his versions are the best) is one by Samson François 1958._
Trifonov?? You are joking, right? I really don't understand the admiration for him. His playing is definitely not anywhere near the level of Pogorelich.
@@j.vonhogen9650 How can you be so sure when didn't listen to his ondine? please, know what you‘re talking about before calling someone's opinion a joke
@@andrewkimpiano- Just so you know, I did not call your opinion a joke, I just asked you if you were joking, since you seemed to be trolling about Trifonov and Pogorelich and I wanted to be sure about your intentions. I always listen to pianists before I form my opinion (to which I'm entitled just as much as you by the way), and I always make sure I meet them in person whenever they visit my country, which over the years has lead to several friendships with leading musicians. Also, I obviously did not criticize Trifonov's interpretation of Gaspard de la nuit, since I've never heard him play that piece. Maybe it's good, maybe it's bad, I just don't know. Based on the many performances of Trifonov that I have heard though, I must say that I don't really care how he plays Gaspard de la nuit to be honest. Whether you like it or not, it's my opinion that Trifonov is an overrated pianist who can't hold a candle to Pogorelich in his 1980s form. He seems like a nice guy though.
Pogorelich was phenomenal in his rendition of this work.
Ah Pogolerich dans les annees 80. Quelle nostalgie!
Pogorelich is a genius. BRAVO..
Dream....dream....dream.......
Sognando Ivo........................
Sontuoso come pochi...........
Great. Genius🤍
Stunning. Stunning. 💖💖💖💖💖

Insanely, amazingly great!
Love the staccato accenting at 1:33
Incredible!
ОЧЕНЬ!!!…
Благодарю!
19:09 the tempo! Hes genius
The amount of control at 23:24 is insane
👍👏
I heard him do this in the RFH shortly after the Chopin competition fiasco. I will never hear a Gaspard that approaches it live again, I fear.
Saw him at the same venue several times from '84 onwards. He was a phenomenal pianist in his prime. Made the Schumann toccata look/sound easy!
A Ondine gravada por Lazar Berman também é um excelente registro. Pogorelich, Argerich, Perlemuter e mais recentemente Debargue são mestres na obra.
Et Samson Francois
Aaron sent us here. This was beautiful
Wow. New York? Amsterdam?

Yesterday I had the chance to see Daniil Trifonov's rendition, and it was on the level of pogorelich! Especially ondine
He comes to my country with this piece and several other crazy works. I’m not quite sure if I should go…
