HOW TO CHANGE THE CODE ON THE KEYPAD OF A GENIE GARAGE DOOR OPENER
So, you’d like to know how to change the code on the keypad of a genie garage door opener. Great question! Well, it’s actually very easy. Here’s a short three minute video tutorial to show you exactly how. The first thing you have to do is reset the keypad back to factory settings. This information can be found in your genie garage door opener “owner’s manual”, but like me, I’m sure you can’t find yours. Ha (that’s why we’re here). So, what’s the secret to resetting the keypad back to factory settings? Simply press three buttons simultaneously: Program, 6 and up/down. Now the keypad is totally reset and ready to program with your new code. Yea!!
The rest of the steps to change the code on the keypad of a genie garage door opener are actually found on the inside of your keypad cover….if that’s available. If not, I’ve got them listed below.
10 EASY STEPS TO CHANGE THE CODE ON THE KEYPAD OF A GENIE GARAGE DOOR OPENER
Step 1- Press 3, 5, 7 and Program (PROG)
Step 2- Enter your new desired code and press Program (PROG) Note: Your code must be 3-8 digits.
Step 3-Locate the black wire on your genie garage door opener.
Step 4- Push the black button above the black wire and watch the red light start to blink.
Step 5- Return to the keypad and enter your new code again, followed by pressing the up/down button.
Step 6- Check the red light on the garage door opener and make sure it is now solid red.
Step 7- Return to the keypad and press the up/down button
Step 8- Check that the red light on the garage door opener is now unlit.
Step 9- Wait 30 seconds for the backlight to go out on your keypad
Step 10- Your keypad is now active. Enter your new code and press the up/down button to verify it works.
Now you know how to change the code on the keypad of a genie garage door opener. Yea!! So, save these instructions for future reference in case you have to change the keypad code at a later date.
