Up north we always eat walleye, perch, crappie, and Bluegill all from good Ol' Lake Erie.
Seams we can only fish with Googan clothes or Googan rods if we have a private pond these days lol

This year I cleaned 322 crappies from 12-15 inches and over 100 walleye from 15-23 inches did catch a 25 incher but let him go

Crappie are one of the best tasting species hands down. Almost everyone I know that fishes likes crappie the best.

Googans need to come ice fish walleyes during ice season in Wisconsin. Ice fish taste better than open water.
Even the MinnDak boys could turn them on to some ice walleye. Come winter it seems like that's just about all they catch lol.

This is what I want in a pond. Multiple species that aren't only fun to catch, but good to eat. Luckily I'm in Oz and most of the species we catch for sport are also very tasty.

If you haven't tried walleye you're missing out. It's the closes you can get that tastes like salt water rock cod in fresh water but better. That was a nice harvest. Eating like barbaric kings, lol.
not in my opinion personally but still tastes good I prefer eating Largemouth Bass I just rarely eat them

Man I love seeing southern boys try walleye! And they got to have crappie with it as well, this is literally what we live for where I’m from (Kansas).
Dads been taking me crappie and walleye fishing since I can remember and teaching me his secrets to frying his way. Nothing quite like going out on the water with some buddies and catching your target species to fry up or cook however you want. Definitely some of my fondest memories for sure and plan on making PLENTY more to come.
One thing I haven’t tried and want to is walleye caught fresh and then making it in a pan with butter and lemon right there on the shore. Any of my northern anglers out there done that? If so, how was it?? Worthwhile?

We pan fry walleye in the ice house all the time here in ND, a little butter and lemon pepper. I highly recommend giving it a try!!
Watching southern people catch a walleye and enjoy it is funny to me. Up in MN you can go to almost any lake and catch 3-4 good eating walleye in a night. 3-4 is only a decent night. If you find a good spot you could catch like 20-30 . You boys gotta make a trip to lake of the woods.

Flair if you want that sauce recipe (dipping) I can taste and decode the recipe. Do it all the time since I was a kid. I make organic vinegars and marinades, rubs, and barbecue sauce all the time. So many years ago you had to if you wanted something good. Couldn't pick up market brands in the store like you can today.
Walleye is like aquatic waygu. I love crappie but nothing compares to walleye except maybe orange rouffe. But those aren't sustainable.
best coating ever....put in flour (seasoned), egg wash, and then saltine crackers crushed, fry. Enjoy!

3 Tips for novice fish eaters
1.kill the fish immediately (knock em in the head)
2.bigger fish(striper,walleye) kill em and rip a gill out to 'bleed' the fish
3.Throw fish in a loaded ice chest
Those three little steps will keep the fish from stress bleeding into the meat,and the ice will firm the fish up keeping the meat fresh ,cold and much easier to clean

i caught a lot crappies using 1.5 to 1.75 inch s-fin for lunker city, with a bobber 2 to 4 feet and 1/32 to 1/4oz jig heads
And I've been accidentally been growing monster trophy bass in my backyard ponds for the past two decades with zero maintenance. Downside is that the water moccasins are also freaks of nature huge.
I am from Saskatchewan and you have to go to fishing lake one time it is worth it me and my friend Under 1 hour caught we’ll just me 80 walleye 20 jack and jack taste so good trust me

My dad and I love catching pan fish but I never thought to use a crank bait. Might have to rig one of 4 poles for that. I always call pan fish fish sticks. Just need to find out your batter/seasoning preference.

My main fish I'd walleye and I love to see other people excited about them, you guys did forget to zipper out the y bones in the middle of the fillet which would make the experience more enjoyable

If you like the soap strat try spraying your lure box with original old spice and see what unfolds scents are vital in my area when the bite is tough
