I think a lot of us just want the quality look and feel to go along with the large price tags that come with many of these high end bags. Feels kind of lame if I pay a lot for something and it has sort of a mediocre look to it.
Liked this bag in use from the start, not too big so I should not get too heavy. The look fits in most environments and use cases. Can also be used as an over the shoulder bag (fabric loops to attach strap). The material picks up dirt quite easily though...
Only a few backpacks are looking also good in briefcase mode. A plain and functional look is an advantage. Fancy and fashionable means it is out of date in the next season. 😉
I own the bag for a while now and for me the big downer is upper handle which is narrow and thin. Since it is a bacpack and not a suitcase, I would love to grab it from the top, not from the side. I would love to switch places of those handles, then it would be perfect. :)
I see. The "problem" with top handles for me personally is my own hight. Usually a bag is really close to the ground whenever I use a top handle, which is why I prefer sidehandles. So to me this is the perfect combination of top and side handle. But I can see why you would prefer it the other way around
I prefer minimal than boring. 😉 i love this backpack! The reason for me is that i prefer to go for this style of very minimal "pack any way you want" backpack rather than a super tech/ultra organization heavy. Bags that are that way seem cumbersome and don't allow flexibility if you don't pack exactly how it's layout is in my opinion. Great video!
I 100% agree with you. I prefer simple layouts that adapt to my packing style. However, a certain amount of compartments is needed, especially "in a horizontal way". Mesh compartments or slots that keep stuff at the top, help a lot to distribute everything inside. But too many pockets overwhelm me as well. This bag to me has the right amount of compartments in a way.
I enjoyed the video. It’s a minimalist bag so it may be boring to some who aren’t into minimal design. I personally love this bag. Just one last comment whatever filter you used to make this video isn’t improving the viewer experience. Thanks for the video though.
is 1680D a much better material than the one they used here? I'm between some Aer bags with 1680D and this one, and I think they picked this material on this one for the lightweight
Can you please check out the Ozuko “The urban” backpack? it’s quite new and it seems really interesting and stylist with its options to change its capacity to 25, 30 and 40L
Hello Bo! Thank you for all your great reviews, for sure subscribed on YT and IG! I watched almost everything from your YT channel))) I keep my choice on RFF Battalion 24h, didn't find review on your channel, but hope it will be good)) what do you think?
That's a really good question, that is really difficult to answer. I have so many different use cases (edc, gym, riding a motorcycle and more) and every usecase needs a different bag
Great review! I have had the Minaal daily for about a month or two and I love the thoughtful design and overall functionality. However, it is not the most comfortable bag to wear and picks up a lot of dust. I would recommend, as you point out, this bag for a work type environment.
Thank you for yet another excellent review. I like the bag and I particularly like the 'boring' aspect as this doesn't attract attention like some of my other gear. I really appreciate your getting the review done in much less than ten minutes, too, Bo. Nicely done.
The "Office Functional" look is a plus for me. I have been thinking about the Mystery Ranch 3 way, but I think it's too complex. I will forget what's in the bag... I have been thinking about the Goruck GR1 for simplicity, but your comment that it does not sit easily on it's bottom is a problem. back in the day we had RETAIL STORES to figure this stuff out... But now we also have more (and better) stuff and features.. I am still using my $20 East pack from back in the day... ...20 years ago I think! IMHO
I've used this bag off and on for a couple of years. I kind of like the under-stated look. And the bag is very flexible. It's good for basic everyday carry, travel and work, but when I have to carry my camera gear as a part of my normal carry, I reach for a different bag.
Thanks for another great review. I would have overlooked this "plain" bag, but now I'm going to give it some serious consideration for my fist bag of 2020
I had that bag a few years too, but sold it last year. Organization is realy good and as I worked the bag was great, as I did not need to carry as much as I need to carry now for university. It could handle the amount I carry, but under that weight te straps became super uncomfortable for me. Also I did not like the zips. They have these extra holes to attach them to aech other with a lock to prevent pickpockets. But because the material is so thin, the zippers often overturned themselves and it was a pain to close that main compartement sometimes.
Thanks Bo, i love your reviews and i love using this bag. I have been waiting for you you to notice it and give us a review. It is and awesome bag and i agree, it could seem boring, but once you have it you rarely want to use any other.
Thanks, mate. Yes, I was pretty much surprised as well. As I mentioned in the video, at first I was rather underwhelmed to start using it, but once I used it I started to love the bag.
I have the bag, have been using it for the past 2 years. Only really negative thing for me is the disgracefully bad water resistance, even with a small amount of rain your stuff will be soaked unless you use the rain cover. Minaal could have used a better coating for its bag to make it at least water resistant if not waterproof.
I got their new Rolltop backpack via the Kickstarter and it is an amazing daily carry bag. Get your hands on that and do a review. I currently switch between the Minaal Roll Top and the Bellroy Classic Backpack....both in black. Both highly functional and streamlined.
Thank you for yet another excellent review. I like the bag and I particularly like the 'boring' aspect as this doesn't attract attention like some of my other gear. I really appreciate your getting the review done in much less than ten minutes, too, Bo. Nicely done.
Ho Bo, Thanks for another great video. The functionality appears great and I actually do not mind the look - in fact I actually quite like it. I do like a top grab handle but if I didn't I would cut it off! Looking at it I might consider it for a one bag carry though my preference is about 25-30 litres for that purpose. For a daily work bag I find that I don't like clamshell opening (opposite for one bag travel). This is because of space really as I don't want to lay the bag down to open it in the office or in public spaces where everyone can see the contents of the bag such as expensive noise cancelling headphones etc or my lunch. Also I want my work bag to stand up on end which this bag doesn't look like it can?
Thanks, mate. And thanks for sharing your opinion. That's a very interesting point in regards to clamshell in public or office spaces. Never actually thought of it that way. Obviously, you can just half open the zippers of a clamshell and treat the bag like a toploading, but there is still the chance of the bag opening completely due to the weight of the contents and gravity. Therefore I totally understand your point. The Minaal needs to lean against a desk to stand up, so I usually just lay it flat on the ground
It would make a nice Commuter-Office bag, I have seen this bag before and it should be for what they cost. You look like got the same weather we have in Los Angeles its 44 ° F/ 11°C with rain on the way.
That's the Alchemy Equipment AEM105. You can see it in this video ruclips.net/video/H-XsQfMH2i8/видео.html For insulation I wear a patagonia nano puff jacket. At the moment it is pretty cold, so I wear two patagonias underneath.
It's a high pricetag. However, considering the build quality, the Efficiency of all of the features and considering all of the stuff you can fit into such a small formfactor, I believe this to be a justified price IMHO.
My fav bag ever. I've tried a few others that have come out but always end up returning to the Minaal Daily. It just feels right and is so well thought out. Works perfectly with my set up. Love the ability to tuck the sternum strap in place and the quick access is perfect
Design follows function. It makes no statement of its own on the outside but some nicely thought out features inside. Good review, like the backpack compact effective and useful :)
@@Youknowthebo hoping you're able to get one of those! They're pretty tight and I'm curious to see what you think of them! Definitely an opponent of peakdesign, Lowepro and other camera bag brands! 😁
Why am I watching this on my commute on the train while wearing my Minaal Daily 😂🤣. Great review! I do agree that it does look abit more plain than the many other stylish options out there, but I keep finding myself going back to this pack because of its well thought out functionality and organisation. After some time, you do begin to appreciate that it has its own charm in a certain way to in regards to looks.
Funny how you seemed to dislike it for being 'plain'. I actually LOVE the minimal designed bags that blend in and have no logos or minimal logos.
I think a lot of us just want the quality look and feel to go along with the large price tags that come with many of these high end bags. Feels kind of lame if I pay a lot for something and it has sort of a mediocre look to it.

That looks pretty decent in my opinion. It's just too pricey, tho

I like the look of no non sense of this bag. It would look more slick if it comes in jet black.
Would love to see a SALZEN backpack review. Especially the SALZEN Triplete

nice review. one question though: what coat are you wearing at the 1:40min mark? looks awesome
Looks like the Alchemy Equipment AEM105 Performance Rain Coat.

Kinda reminds me of the Nazca 24L from cotopaxi.
Iron rangers review would be nice too 🔥
I might think about it. Could be an interesting video
What has happened with colors on this video? Looks like black is replaced with a gray color :/

3:14 Good info. Showing how it fits under seat in front on a plane.
Thanks, Mike. However, thats a seat inside a train here in Germany. But I believe that the bag would fit underneath an airplane seat as well.
IDK, it's a little spendy. Kinda like the Goruck GR1 better. :-/

Collin is correct. That is a Trakke Pouch. You can see it in this video ruclips.net/video/l29KJ1HDhL0/видео.html

It does show dirt and dust quickly, but it is easily to brush of. And it is not a hair magnet.
