SWFL Eagles ~ E18 Discovers The Pond & Takes FIRST BATH! 😊 E17 Joins Sibling & They Rumble! 4.25.21

- E18 flies down to the ground and discovers the pond and a whole new world of fun and enjoyment opened up today! E17 was perched on the DSPS and watched as E18 played along the bank and then waded into the water and began to hop and run with wings outstretched! E18 found some palm fronds to play with and took sips of water for the first time!
M15 had taken a bath was seen drying his wings on the old cam tree while keeping his eagle eye on E18 down at the pond. E18 does a butt dip and wing dip and then will dunk into the water enjoying her first bath! That must have felt wonderful!
E17 is watching the whole time and finally can't stand it any longer and flies down to the ground and comes over and stands on the bank while E18 is enjoying the water at 17:31 E17 did not attempt to come to the water's edge but was content to just watch E18 splashing around. E18 comes out and shakes her wings and then E17 lunges at E18 and we have our first ground rumble at the pond! It was short lived with both E17 & E18 just throwing their wings around at 21:10. A few seconds later, E17 lunges once more at E18 and they rumble again! E17 will fly off to the DSPS and E18 will head over to the fence and perch there overlooking the service road at 23:44.
E18 stays on the fence preening and perching until a truck comes by and startles E18 into flying to the fence on the office side of the pond. What an exciting day of new adventures for both E's but especially E18 who was brave enough to venture into the pond. Who knows, maybe E18 will become our new pond princess this season! Hahaha!!! I think E17 had it coming from E18 for a very long time! Rumbling today but one day they just might share a branch to sleep on together one of these nights.😉

On a sunny day, E18 took her first refreshing bath in the lake! Under the watchful eye of E17, E18 discovered how fun it is to take a refreshing shower, drink water and play in the lake. This was E18's "baptism" in the fantastic new world to be explored on the ground. Everything happens as a family. Well done, E18. We are proud of you, little one. Wow E17 backed off which was good to see. I really thought it would be E17 that would hit the pond first but it appears once E18 fledged from the tree s/he is willing to try all there is. Now the fun starts between those two.

Lady Hawk, this vid is an extraordinary articulation of Learning...watching E18 learning...trying a part of the experience, just a little at a time, tasting it, entering it, retreating, re-entering, the beak IN the water, many repeats of beak-in-water, later beak and head in...adding the underbody, a bit at a time, but then making sure the wings still work, until finally wetting everything, the full-on leap of faith, the full-on immersion, the rise up and out-SUCCESS! A wonder to behold.
I could hardly wait for you to catch all this Lady Hawk! I just got to see a second or two today. Looks almost like 18 was holding her skirts up when she got into the water! Lol! Thanks for this!

Wonderful watching 18 take her first bath! And what a good job at it too! Watching them rumble is pretty cool, important lessons once they are around different eagles.... glad to see 18 get startled by the truck! This is one of my favs when they take that first bath! So cute playing in the sand. Then on the fence. Reminds me of E9. And the truck going very slow on the lane. I really appreciate the Pritchett's for providing this amazing experience that no other nest I've seen has. From birth to leaving, we get to see them do it all. Thank you so much Lady Hawk for providing these video's. I can't watch normally due to work so this is the next best thing!!
I was also thinking of E9 up on the fence when Andy Pritchett drove his truck by!! That was classic!! This bath and pond time and even the rumble was so much fun to watch today! They are really living in paradise!!
This pond holds beautiful memory pictures of the eagle family playing and bathing. It's where I saw them swim for the first time, M & Harriet together, then their babies. It's so peaceful to me. Thanks for your videos that introduced me to this window of the eagles.

Oh my gosh I know!!! After e17 had fledged and 18 was still on the nest whoever was running the cam did a close up on 18 and noticed the nest was infested with thousands of tiny little bugs EVERYWHERE. So much it made me squirm a bit! 😖😖 it's kinda hard to notice if you dont look closely bc at first I thought it was just the wind until I seen the close up. I wonder if CROW can help do something about it or if they will go away on their own after awhile.
@@onlytymewilltell it's very common and happens every year especially when it's getting warm. It doesn't seem to be more than a minor irritation for the birds and all a part of nature! Glad to see them able to get some relief on occasion though!
Wow, you can really see how much bigger E18 is than E17, even with her soaking wet...definitely a female. A little sibling dispute over territory. No wonder the babies don’t want to leave...their flying playground is ideal, pond and all💕

They know that the juveniles are now flying around the pasture so are always very careful when coming down the driveway. We have seen some people stop their car and take pictures with their phone though!

What a monumental day for the E's. I really think E18 is a girl she looks much bigger than E17. I watched the close-up video of them and E18 has a larger beak which seems to be a female trait. I felt like a parent who sees her child walk for the 1st time, so happy
