I can't say I didn't enjoy the snowboarding videos (I will probably still watch even if you start reviewing tractors) but I'm happy that surfing will be back in your next video!

Hey, since you like making this kind of tutorial videos, and since we're in the snowboarding business: maybe you wanna make one where you give us (me) some basic tips and things to know when you're planning a trip to the snowy mountains to try some winter sports for the first time!!
In other matters, would you like sharing your insights about new board materials and configurations? Like epoxy, carbon fibers, multiple stringers, peri rail stringers, channels (a no fins episode would be nice, like some Derek hynd theories) etc...
    Cheers, keep it up!

Hey Chris, agree with the comment below. You have such a talent for this you could review anything and it would still be fun and informative to watch. How about using the snowboard format for surfing? Taking my 16 yr old son surfing in CR this year thanks to you.1st time surfing in boardies after 20 frigid years in the uk. Whoop, feel like the oldest grom in the world, frothing!!!!!!

Hi Chris, what software do you use to edit your videos? Also any chance of a music playlist for the episode? I really liked the first track. Keep up the great work!

I find your video's very inspiriting end would love to learn more how you started. I have some RUclips ideas myself but don't really know how to start. Any tips? What kind of camera would you suggest and do you do all the editing yourself? What program do you use. Is it realistic to make a living out of it in the end or is it a side thing?
Love your board reviews specially the ones that meet with the shaper. Love to learn more about shaping. Specially al the tricky stuff like flutes, belly channels, and venture bottoms.
    keep up the good work.
    cheers Bart
ps I live in the Netherlands and all these snowboard clips makes me very, very jealous.

+Bart de Rooij I'll try to hit all these quick: general tips - figure out who you are and then be that person on camera. This is actually hard. It's a craft you hone. Most people (me included) have an urge to change when the camera turns on. It's something you've got to get over and get past. Try instead to be who you really are because that's who your audience will relate to. Cameras - doesn't really matter. What matters is telling a story or conveying something with enthusiasm. If you can show your audience something they will find interesting in a way they find engaging, camera and audio don't really matter. Your iPhone works fine. My videos have been filmed on iPhones, Flip Cams, Canon SLR's, GoPro's and a Canon point and shoots. Dont' invest in a camera until you've got a show format because your camera/audio equipment should serve your format. For example I can't use lapel mics in black studio Shred Show episodes because I'm moving all over the place and throwing surfboards everywhere like a crazy person. Instead I use a Canon 60 or 70d with the internal mic. I don't even use an external mic for those episodes. For editing I use Final Cut Pro X. Once you get the hang of it it's easy. I dont' hate it, but I don't love it either. Making a living - yes it's possible, especially if you have a massive audience, or a niche audience in an industry with huge profit margins (i.e. tech, women's cosmetics, video games, etc). Being able to sell sponsorships without aid form a network or agent helps as well. So does selling products directly to your audience. But it can also just be a side thing that enhances your life. If I never took sponsors, charged consulting fees or earned ad revenue, I'd still never have to pay for a surfboard ever again, and I'd still have access to my audience. Shred Show viewers have given me some opportunities I couldn't have imagined.
