I have a conclusion. This layout seems to look like the sole survivor had died or left the commonwealth. My reasons are; the broken Mr handy(possibly codsworth) the laser musket outside (given by preston) the power armour with the broken pieces scattered around the room, the personal belongings around the room, and the most important one, the pipboy on the table. I mean, no one else had one in the commonwealth, except vault dwellers, but you never meet any of them in the game (except in 81, but they state they never left the vault). This is just my conclusion, thanks for reading, have a great day. Edit:Oh and also the music is kinda a sad piano tone.
If you look closely, nothing happened to the sole survivor, that is the same power armour from the start, nothing new, except the broken mr handy. And all those laser weapons show that the sole survivor isn’t someone to be dealt with, and it also shows the laser musket Preston garvey lets you take after the raider attack on the museum of freedom
After the destruction of the institute, the sole survivor, after all the promotions of the brotherhood, comemorations, come back to the red rocket, dogmeat is waiting in his little house "how you doing buddy" he say in a nostalgic way, the dogmeat lick him in the face, "i did what i had to my friend", the sole survivor lay the laser musket and exits his power armor, storage the broken parts, he removes his pip boy, lay it in the table, remove every equipment he had and the memories he had, as he proceed to play the "hello dear" tape in his pip boy layed in the table, he pets dogmeat and say: "take care of my stuff buddy, you were a good boy", he then with his nostalgic first 10mm pistol, he walked off the scene, the tape ends, the pip boy turns off, the sole survivor disapears of the map causing comotion, leaving one tape to his loved one, "i'm sorry it had to end that way, but my mission is done, haha i'm not gonna kill myself, just going for a mission, do not follow me, i love you"
I love how good the Power Armor goes in tone with the theme, it's as if the music is saying no matter what age, gender, weight, height, or ethnicity you are, once you put on this suit you are a FUCKING FORCE TO BE RECKON WITH.
I remember when it was after high school that I got this game, all the hours I put into it. My last semester in college, this theme is gonna play in my head for graduation.

This was the first Fallout I played, and I’m glad they dialed back the learning curve for this one (compared to the others). 4 gives you a steady introduction to the world and progression system and all that. I went on to play New Vegas after, and I think if I had started with that it would have been difficult to get immersed because it was all really foreign to me. I mostly played FPS games before.
