I was in a similar situation for about 6 months (not pregnant) but I was tired of driving and breaking down every couple of weeks on the way to work. Ended up refinancing and got a much better deal all the way around. Dropped my payments more than half and went from 24% to 6%… It is doable but takes a bit of extra work and a lot of patience. I thank God that he gave me the strength. Now I have a great reliable vehicle and don’t stress every time I head to work wondering if I’m going to make it.
I can't say that getting married is the right answer. Having a child with someone doesn't mean that you should get married. I understand the benefits of marriage etc etc but I can't agree that getting married because of a child is the right thing either
It’s not a lot of children from married families have a twisted concept of love because when couples are forced to stay together because they have to it screws up a child father being unmarried if they’re unhappy they can leave and if they’re grown up enough won’t take it out on the child and focus on them and themselves
I just financed my first car (brand new, ordered) almost a year ago at 23 years old. I got a 72 month loan at 3.9% interest (they offered the 60 month loan at 2.9% but I chose the longer loan for lower payments despite the interest) and I thought that interest was high. I can’t even fathom paying double digit interest on an auto loan.
An easy realization would be, 3.9% on 20k is about $2 a day in interest, a 25% on 20k is about $15 a day in interest. $60/month vs $450/month it’s insane
Time for the reality check on this caller. You and the baby daddy are in no position financially or mentally to raise a child. Give the kid up for adoption and get your life in order first. I think driving for Uber you need a nicer vehicle but there’s DoorDash and post mates she can double dip and she can get exercise from walking up the porches for the baby but once her feet become swollen it’s going to be a pain for her
I call that the million dollar car, it will help you become a millionaire by not having a car payment so you can instead invest that money. I have a million dollar car.
This is what happens when kids have kids. No 21 year old should be having a child in this day and age. Especially, not one that makes decisions like a 26% interest rate on a car note. Gimme a break. Also, that boyfriend doesn't care because he's too young to care for it. She's simply another girl for him at the moment. The same goes for her. That's why she didn't even mention him until Dave asked. I wouldn't be surprised if they break up in a couple of months. What a mess!
@@saulgoodman2018 this is a false belief. Many i know can make over 40k without. I'm not against educating & learning skills. I walked through a repo auction yard yesterday. Every single one of the cars were beat down, high mileage, toilets. Interiors were filthy, body dented/dinged, damaged. Mechanically broken in many ways. The people who financed them put themselves in that position (there are a few exceptions) to get their cars repoed.
Recommending a 1500 car is a weird proposition for someone with no money. Where would they get money from to pay for repairs? What would they do when the car is sitting in the shop? Pay for uber to go to work? I think one would be better off buying a car for 5k, even if that means financing the other 3.5k.
That's exactly what I was thinking. And this is exactly why playing house is a bad idea. It leads to be situations and then inevitably the relationship fail and now you have to spend your time in custody disagreements. It's just generally a path to things that are not good at all.

@@erwina4738 If you have to money to Buy a good car, well good for you. The problem is most people go in debt to Buy one.
1500 will buy you a car that you will be constantly repairing
I can't say that getting married is the right answer. Having a child with someone doesn't mean that you should get married. I understand the benefits of marriage etc etc but I can't agree that getting married because of a child is the right thing either
It’s not a lot of children from married families have a twisted concept of love because when couples are forced to stay together because they have to it screws up a child father being unmarried if they’re unhappy they can leave and if they’re grown up enough won’t take it out on the child and focus on them and themselves
“Take the bit in his mouth.”
A perfect metaphor for men getting married.
She bought the car at a buy here, pay here place 😳
She gonna struggle for a long time in the situation she’s in.
I hear onlyfans is paying
She would probably make more money than she's ever touched in life too
If that was the case then only fans would be nothing but black 20 years old for people with knocked up fetish

I bet they kept the car. He stayed in school. Now they still owe the car but it is reliable and they're not giving it up.
One of very few videos where Dave didn’t know what to say and asked the Ramsey personality to help him out lol
Time for the reality check on this caller. You and the baby daddy are in no position financially or mentally to raise a child. Give the kid up for adoption and get your life in order first. No reason to bring a kid into your disaster of a situation. From the sound of it the are many years away from a stable life on their own.
Sad but true. I can’t imagine giving my flesh and blood away, but they should have been more responsible.
Papa Dave advising a young mom to drive her baby around in a hooptie. Solid Advise.
I always say join the military. I join when I was 25 y/o and don't regret it one bit. family is taken care of and make decent money. not rich now but will be when I retire. thanks you Mr. Ramsey.
Come on guys, she works 40 hours and is pregnant. Telling her to get another job is wrong.
they didnt realize she was living with the father of the kid
I have to disagree with Dave on this one. This is not his problem, he needs to get his education asap to better his position. If he has to pay child support, well it would be pennies on the dollar from his minimum wage.
Why is Dave telling them to get married? That’s terrible advice just because you have a kid doesn’t mean you need to get married
"The car needs to go. Bye bye!" Simple as that.
With a $1500 car she can do deliveries for auto stores or Uber eats. You don't need a nice car for that
I think driving for Uber you need a nicer vehicle but there’s DoorDash and post mates she can double dip and she can get exercise from walking up the porches for the baby but once her feet become swollen it’s going to be a pain for her
I pray to God my daughter will never have to go through this, I have been broke and I know what it’s like.
holy train wreck...... man i'm so happy this isn't me. I hope she can pull it through, gonna be a tough road.
Married by Friday? 😆. He gone. 😆🤣.
Love the calls where the car or student loans are close to or exceed the callers annual income.
"Get married by Friday" 🤣😂 I'll use that line on my next boyfriend.
$500 says she keeps that car
Bought cash cars only from 18-27 years old . Best financial decision to start my adulthood

Preach! 110% agree
Boyfriend needs to marry her tomorrow and then join the military.

Grocery store wont pay bills. He needs a better job no natter if in school or not. Get out from under car, share a car if possible.
@@saulgoodman2018 yes but needs job(s) that pays bills in the mean time too.
@@saulgoodman2018 this is a false belief. Many i know can make over 40k without. I'm not against educating & learning skills. But work ethic will ultimately determine what you really make & really bring home at the end of the day. So yes, i'm glad he's trying to better circumstances for the future. But that doesnt pay present bills. And he has a little one on the way. It'd benefit all three for him to improve job now & not wait til child is already born. The dad is a creep .... got her pregnant but wont put a ring on it. You need to raise your standards, ladies. Get a man who commits or get out of there. In the end it is the child who suffers.
We have no idea the circumstances or reasoning for them not being married. and against Dave's teachings the dad from her saying they were living on minimum wage job(s) means that he is helping her financially even though they aren't married, and he has brought no debt into the relationship. Perhaps you could tell me what in this call gave you the information that he is a creep.
What more can go wrong for this lady @ 21.
Hope the guy doesn’t take off and lives up to his responsibilities.

Wow. A Trifecta of mistakes. A car, a baby, and a forced marriage! 😱

Recommending a 1500 car is a weird proposition for someone with no money. Where would they get money from to pay for repairs? What would they do when the car is sitting in the shop? Pay for uber to go to work? I think one would be better off buying a car for 5k, even if that means financing the other 3.5k.
Do those people know what contraception is?
It comes off like she doesn't want to marry this guy. Which I could understand but then you shouldn't have had a kid with him eather lol.
That's exactly what I was thinking. And this is exactly why playing house is a bad idea. It leads to be situations and then inevitably the relationship fail and now you have to spend your time in custody disagreements.
It's just generally a path to things that are not good at all.
Clearly getting that car was not a smart move but I wish there was something that protected young people from being taken advantage of like that. Aside from common sense.

Not to mention EMT's also don't make much more than grocery workers...

Suddenly my 3.9% interest rate on my 24k car doesn’t seem so bad 🥲
21 y.o. pregnant, thats beyond stupid. She was desperate for something else too, other than the car..
That interest rate is criminal. Honestly think the age for applying for car finance should be increased to avoid young people getting suckered in by shiny new cars. They’re not ready emotionally yet
Then all it will be is older people doing the exact same thing. Look around, older people do dumb things too. If your an adult, you have to be treated as such.
Arizona law allows any interest rate if it's contract. Some states have certain limits and guidelines (which I think Arizona SHOULD start standardizing)
Also same time I'm going to play the devils advocate and blame the girl for not reading the contract guidelines that state the monthly payment, length of the loan with all the fees included and or bringing someone with who's experienced car buying before (like their parent(s) that may have saved them from getting into it) It's not the dealer's job to tell people what they can/can't afford. It's the banks at the end of the day that pay a underwriter to give loans the OK or not.
Absolutely no one:
Dave: ....so where's the dad? 😭😭😭
This is why my first car was only 4000 dls. I was 18 yo at the time.
