Question: Why do we measure it as billions of years, but the Qur'an explains it as days? You probably know that time does not pass the same way for everyone, (theory of relativity). For example, if you are will be a near a supermassive black hole (it is very heavy) at least for a week, several years will pass on the earth. The greater the mass - the slower time passes, the smaller the mass - the faster time passes. In the Qur'an, Allah mentions his Throne. So the frame of reference for creation is the Throne, not Earth. The Qur'an uses the Throne as a reference point. Our Prophet ﷺ gave to us a visual example of the size of the Throne (Al-Kursi) of Allah. 7 Heavens are like a ring from the finger thrown in the Sahara Desert, 7 Heavens are like a ring, and the desert is the Throne of Allah. The Throne of Allah is a super heavy, huge and great creation that embraces everything. And so in this way one can know that in the Throne of Allah time passed more slowly than on Earth. But this does not mean that Allah has time. Time does not rule Allah but Allah rule time. Allah is above all existing. In the Throne of Allah passed 6 days, but for us it was 13.8 billion years. And besides, in the 7th century there were no concepts of multi-billion numbers. Allah explains to people so that they can understand.
