Here's a brief video on my favorite art historian: Aby Warburg. I talk about his early years, his famous trip to America where he studied Pueblo culture and finally the creation of his masterpiece: the Bilderatlas Mnemosyne.
    Names mentioned:
    Ernst (EH) Gombrich
    James Mooney
    Franz Boas
    Fritz Saxl
    Raymond Klibansky
    (Erwin Panofsky)

This was a fascinating introduction! I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for any/all books on Warburg. Bilderatlas Mnemosyne looks so esoteric and bizarre and fascinating. Thanks for this - I now know why he's your favorite art historian...

If you love Aby Warburg, you would love "A History of Arcadia in Art and Literature" by Paul Holberton (a Warburgian scholar) Volume 1 & 2. I truly believe that two volumes edition on arcadia by Holberton is a masterpiece. I hope you will get hold of a copy while you can. It is a worthy companion that should proudly sit next to "Saturn and Melancholy: Studies in the History of Natural Philosophy, Religion, and Art" by Raymond Klibansky, Erwin Panofsky, etc on the bookshelf. I hope all is well with you. We haven't seen your new vblog for some time. I love your taste in books. But creating these book review videos, one can imagine, takes a great deal of time. Happy thanksgiving.

PS. The book was published by the author's own publication company that produces high quality art historical books. The quality and the standard of production is exemplary. He spared no expense to achieve the highest quality in terms of paper and reproduction colour images in both volumes. It's a joyous experience to be transported into the world of arcadia when reading these two volumes. Highly recommend it.

@@Pacabelle Thanks for such a kind comment and such a thoughtful recommendation. I hadn't heard of this book before and it seems to be exactly what I would be interested in.
My current reading has been circling around Chinese literature, Native American history and thought and ecology and have been gathering some thoughts on these subjects and their overlaps. Perhaps I will be able to make a video about all of this soon...
