    The two tracks i've heard so far from his new album are joyful, exuberant & refreshingly organic-sounding. Springsteen proved that he could do country-rock without making it sound like a pastiche on his excellent "Western Stars" album. He's always drawn influences from many genres to inform his own work so he's more than earned the right to do a straight-up covers album. By his own account he made this album to keep himself occupied during lockdown & threw out his first attempt, so it's not just a cheap cash-in.

  • @Peppers19781978
    @Peppers19781978 Год назад +25

    Bruce has been doing covers of soul songs since he started. So doing an actual album isn't unusual for him at all and I love he is finally doing this. A bunch of his own original songs have been directly influenced by soul much as well. I will say though the timing is a bit odd considering he will be embarking on a tour with the E Street Band next year and this is a solo album minus the E Street Band members (though he has done that before too). Makes me wonder if he will do a little set of these songs next year because they will for sure fit the E Street Band style as well. I was hoping for maybe a surprise mini tour to support this new album. He has a bunch of new stuff to play next year with this album, Letter to You, possibly E Street Band versions of Western Stars.

    • @joeciorciari1114
      @joeciorciari1114 Год назад +1

      Actually, it IS unusual. A concert setting is an entirely different forum for covers than a dedicated album. Having kept covers to an absolute minimum on his recordings, previously, this is a step far out of his usual lane.
      Unfortunately, Springsteen squandered much goodwill, by embracing Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing, for the upcoming tour. For the past 20 years, his audience has been devolving and dwindling to people who only want to hear the classics and go on their perpetual beer and bathroom runs during newer material. As such, this album will play like a fart in church at the concerts.

    I have to say that I find it really refreshing how, despite any ambiguously clickbait-y title, every single video you post ends up being about you being pretty positive about whatever you're discussing. I was ready to get angry on behalf of the Icon Bruce Stringbean for your blasphemy, but you were spot on about everything you said. Him making a record based on the Great American Songbook and releasing this song as a single is kind of like your grandpa rocking out. Whatever criticism you may have takes a backseat to the fact that he's having a good time and it's harmless. And since in this case grandpa is Springsteen, it's also well performed and not simply fun.

From obscurity and revived by the northern soul scene it's great that this brilliant song will get the greater airplay it deserves back in the good old US of A. Thanks Justin love you show indeed I do.

Only two 45rpm copies exist, and they are worth lots of money. It was never heard or charted in the States. Someone in Bruce’s camp must be a northern soul fan that introduced him to this.

One day me and some other session musicians were accompanying this wanna-be Camilla Cabello type girl, very loud, very expansive singing... Anyway, she was belting out one track with such "voraciousness" that she couldn't keep herself from moving away from the mic. Obviously the sound engineer informerd her very politely that her voice was almost inaudible at some points, at which she replied "Just compress it, then". I almost pissed myself laughing... Well, poor girl, I hope she achieve her dreams some day.

    Of course is a Motown bassline.
    🤭
    Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)" is a song and single by American soul singer Frank Wilson first pressed in 1965 on the Motown subsidiary label Soul.[1] It is Wilson's only Motown single and is a prized item among collectors.
    Approximately 250 demo 45s of the song were pressed in 1965 and scheduled for release on 23 December 1965. Owing to a combination of Wilson deciding that he would rather focus on producing and Motown's Berry Gordy's lukewarm reception of the vocals and wish to prevent his producers from having a successful recording career, the demos were destroyed. At least two, and maybe as many as five, copies survived, one of which fetched £25,742 in May 2009. One is rumoured to be owned by Berry Gordy.[3] Due to its scarcity it remains one of the most collectable discs especially by followers of Northern soul. Owing to the demand caused by it being played at the famous English Northern soul nightclub, Wigan Casino, it was first officially released in the UK in 1979 on the Tamla-Motown label, and again in 2004 with a version of the same song by Chris Clark on the B-side.
    On CD, the mono Frank Wilson version was issued on The Complete Motown Singles, Volume 5: 1965 (Hip-O Select), while the stereo version appears on the British compilation This Is Northern Soul: The Motown Sound Volume 1 (Motown). The Chris Clark version (in an alternate mono mix) was issued on the British "A Cellarful of Motown!", the first volume of four double discs documenting unreleased Motown songs.
